  1. I didnt say you had to be involved with the SAAA .Nor is anyone complaining about the freedom we have. The whole purpose of this is so dont kill yourself & some other inocent party. Not sure if you have finished building your RV as yet but if you do get an AP from CASA to issue your C of A it will cost you more through them than it will through the SAAA. Back to my original comment this is why the RAA should have structures like this not to add more regulations but to give assistance to builders.
  2. The RAA should be doing what the SAAA is doing in regard to inspection. The SAAA also have TC technical Councilors within each Chapter the builder of an aircraft can get good sound advice on their build. Part of your C of A is you need a minumin of 3 TC reports. Gives you good peice of mind that your aircraft is built sound. Cheers
  3. Just looking at your picture first thought would to run a grader blade to level off as much as possible in doing that I would put a slight fall on both sides for water run off. See what grass grows back you might have to sow some grass seed in places, but from your picture it looks like you have a good growth happening in your soil. Cheers
  4. The answer on the web site as of 10.40pm........NONE!
  5. Im glad Im not caught up in this s@#t fight. I feel sorry for you guys that are & I know some of you have posted on the forum that you will continue to fly. I hope you guys really consisder your actions by posting your intention to fly an unregistered aircraft on the forum for the world to see not a smart move. Just ask yourself would you drive an unregistered car on the road??? . Remember CASA do ramp checks. Dont think because you are in a little rural airfield they wont bother you! I think the longer this goes on the more likley hood the inspectors will be out in force. I know its frustrating but please stop & think! Hopefuly this will get sorted out real soon.
  6. Welcome Phil this is why I enjoy being part of this forum doesnt matter where in the world you are if you need to find out about anything aviation you will always get an answer here. Enjoyed reading all the posts for this thread. Well done to everyone. Cheers.
  7. Great looking Xair Bruce. I haven't had any punchers as yet all my flying is from sealed runways. My be instead of a bigger tyre size get a tube that has a thicker wall or higher ply rating than the ones you are using now. Cheers
  8. Yeah I have a 38 pitch prop I built mine the 80lt tank is standard for Australia. Max weight here is 540kg
  9. Yep I run a jab 2200 first test flight was march this year it has 21 flight hours. Cruises @ 80 knots Im getting fuel burn of 17 litres an hour at 2850 rpm that will improve when the engine beds in more. Climb is 900 ft min. these figures are all one up & full of fuel 70-80 litres. Did you build your Xair?

  15. Camden or even Pipers Airfield out at Bathurst.
  16. This is Des Porter's Dragon. Very sad news hope all are ok.
  17. Thats one reason why I decided to join the SAAA instead of RAA. Having Chapters makes it a lot eaiser to find out info & get answers to questions. Something RAA should look at setting up.
  18. 10 year old! How many landings in that time.
  19. In my workshop I use turtle wax. Most polishes have silicon in them. If you need to do touch ups just wipe the area with a wax & grease remover before doing the touch up. tonkariaviation.com.au

  23. I dont think its a matter of the RAA to introduce a CTA endorsement, Its a matter of CASA changing the rules & I wouldnt bet your house on that one happening. My Xair is VH reg I have to have a instrument 8 every 2 years. to calibrate the transponder, ALT, ASI.
