  1. When we were getting my T500 up and running we had to solve a number of small pesky problems with electrical issues. Most involved changing the earth return leads to dedicated wires rather than looping to a harness. Seemed to do the trick in the majority of cases. I would look in that direction first. Pud
  2. In my view if the information is available on the website (or anywhere for that matter) then it must be up to date. My aircraft was re-registered last year but still appears on the deregistered list. I don't have an issue with the details being available, only the currency of the information. Pud
  3. Seems ok here Ian Pud
  4. Hehehehe
  5. I'm with Col, can't vote 'cos I dunno. As long as I can come here and look around, contribute when I can and reference stuff when I want, I'm happy. Don't like the instability over the last few days but hey, change always has teething problems. I'm easy Ian, just don't close the site down!!! Pud
  6. Come on over robinsm and I'll shout you that coffee!! Your post is on the mark for mine. Pud
  7. No worries, I didn't stay long as I was "on the payroll" so had to go. Pud
  8. Some tanks can't be dipped because the internal baffle holes do not line up - can't get to the bottom of the tank. My 2 methods are knowing how much fuel I pour in, and the site gauge of clear plastic pipe on the front of the tanks. Works for me. It does seem to be a widespread problem in a lot of different aircraft - accuracy of fuel gauges and knowing what's in the tank for sure. Pud
  9. Lasted exactly 1 minute and that was it!! Went to bed:boring: Pud
  10. Yep, just got back on at 10.40pm WA time. Pud
  11. Yep problems for me yesterday Ian. I could log on and start tooling around, and then i'd want to go to thread and it would say site unavailable. Very spasmodic. Pud
  12. Well a number of posts here have allayed my concerns regarding plastic fuel containers of an approved type. I'll continue to use mine and probably not store fuel in one for any length of time. Pud
  13. I didn't know that Tomo. Thanks. Pud

Great stuff Tex. Makes me want to take off right now for a fly, but my aircraft is 3 hours away. Anybody who has the convenience of their aircraft in a hangar just 'out the back', walking distance from the house is indeed a lucky puppy. Pud
  15. I'm using Castrol Active 2T which meets the specifications from Rotax and is recommended by Bert Flood. I'm using it in a water cooled 582 blue head rotax though. Pud
  16. What oil has the 503 been run on up to this point Bacon? It seems to me that if the engine has been using X brand for ?00 hours with no problems then why change. Pud
  17. VERY nice machine there Ballpoint. How about the 'Baked Bean'? Just kidding!!! Pud
  18. Hey FT, they are both no good - no bloody tail wheel. Pud
  19. Well I called in to Narrogin Airfield and sat in on the briefing - very interesting, especially the amount of detailed weather information provided. I spoke with a couple of guys including Denis Macneall, ex RAAF pilot who did a tour (s) of duty in Vietnam. He was competing in the championships in his Pik 20 (I think??). Her's a couple of photos of his self launching glider. Denis says this is a 505 Rotax It winds down manually (15 turns of the lever) into the fuselage behind the cockpit. Couldn't help myself - I really like these tugs. Pud
  20. Came across this unusual aircraft in a hangar at Northam yesterday. I'm lead to believe 5 were imported from Russia into NZ with this one finding its wy to WA - only one in Australia. What do you think? I found some more info here http://www.vvv-avia.ru/about-elitar-sigma.html Pud
  21. Do you store fuel in the plastic containers for any length of time? It's interesting your experience with metal vs plastic containers - I've had no issues regarding sealing with my metal jerry cans, but the plastic ones left in the canopy of my Hilux for any length of time definitely release some vapours. This happens with 2 different containers. Pud
  22. Thanks Iggy
  23. Nup, its just a gut feel I have about plastic and fuel. The containers are fully approved ones - or so it says. Pud
  24. I know that plastic fuel cans are approved for use eastmeg2, and I use one, but I don't like the idea of fuel being stored for any length of time in one - I just reckon the plastic must react with the fuel, and possibly cause the fuel to lose some of its octane rating. Do you have any misgivings like this about plastic containers? Pud
  25. Anybody know the co-ordinates for the Marree Man? I spent an hour last night on Google Earth trying to find it. Pud
