I read the magazine to be informed and entertained and you can turn down the corners to keep your place. With 10,000 members there is a wide variety of expectations and biases. PS at the strip it is called "mogas" to distinguish it from "avgas" with an expectation that that description wouldn't include E10 - bad stuff for planes.

    Have a link to a wavelength table. https://www.cumulus-soaring.com/files/antenna_lengths.pdf 121.5Mhz might be a better frequency as it is the emergency frequency and the 1/4 wave (24.3" 617mm) is only 1" (25.4mm) longer than 126.7 (23.31“ 592mm)

    Try a shorter push on the on/off button. Mine turns on very quickly such that I put back in the case face down in case I accidentally turn it on as I push it into the case. A push of less than 2 sec. will activate mine. Height and speed should not impact the on state, but may impact whether the transmit state is active.

    Users of other EFBs will only see you if they have an ADSB-In connected and operational. Some EFBs may access and distribute position info but that info is not authoritative and may have holes, usually because the connections to the mobile network is dodgy.

    Did he have ADSB in or was he relying on a 3rd party product like flightradar24 or your operation of an EFB being broadcast to other users of that particular EFB system?

    There are 2 (or more) charger standards 1. QC - Qualcomm 2. PD - Apple? The SE2 conforms to the QC standard. Apples conform to the PD standard. If you want to "properly" power an SE2 (or Samsung kit) choose a QC compliant power pack. I have attached pics of 2 car chargers that have QC compliant ports and std USB -A ports. The white one also supports IOS but I'm not sure about the standard

    If your Mode S transponder has an active ADSB-Out you are not permitted to allow your SE2 to transmit ADSB-Out but you can receive. Enjoy the flying - the weather is stuffing us in the Sydney Basin.

    uavionix claims a 12 hour duration. We know (but I forget) the battery specs but that should indicate the battery drain over the batteries rated capacity. From that you should be able to work out (roughly) the current supply required to keep the batteries floating at full capacity.

    Mea culpa - Col, RTFM 8-(. ignore the rubbish above. I was thinking of another dongle. but while you can connect WiFi to the PingUSB you can't hotspot at the same time. Same with Skyecho. But it does look neat for connecting to a PC as a Hub or Server.

    You also need connectivity to mobile network data in order to receive traffic data from OzRunways, AvPlan, FlightAware, FlightRadar24, AdsbExchange et al. If you don't have a mobile connection or it is out of range you won't get any traffic data seen by these services. ADSB-in is independent of the phone network and only depends on other traffic transmitting ADSB-Out. ADSB-In wont pick up transponders.

    PingUSB requires a USB connection to your EFB which "may" preclude connecting your EFB to external power (battery or cigarette lighter) or sharing ADSB-In with your trusty co-pilot over WiFi. SkyEcho is a much better investment as it is much more flexible. Admittedly using a PingUSB enables a EFB WiFi connection to your phone for hot-spotting for mobile data and there is probably a $20 dongle from Cygnet that allows the mixing of the USB port on the EFB for both power and data.

    My latest Telstra AGM permits For, Against, Abstain. Maybe we should get the RAA Board to change the constitution (while they are fixing the 9 year rule which caused an aborted AGM last year). I find the whole Corporation powers to be a smokescreen for the government and public service and the means to protect useless boards from shareholders. Super and investment fundd are encourage to either not vote or prop up their mates and in the end leaving control of the company in the hands of the board. That is not to say that the committee of the building strata isn't immune from jiggery-pokery.

    I have voted and cant remember the ballot paper but it may well be that you can vote for or against and if a candidate gets more nose than yeses they are excluded. If it is not it should be otherwise we are open to defaulting to duds on the board.

    Ah is for heavy equipment - car batteries etc. MAh is for the electronics and light industries AAA, C, D etc. It has always been thus!

    You need RPC to fly RAAus, but you need GA Licence, or training exemption, to fly controlled airspace.

    Sue gave me a guided tour last year. Not as busy as email/westinghouse at Orange but you could see the quality and professionalism going into the planes.

    Simca Veddettes, beloved by public servants because they were only 2.4L but 8 cylinder and qualified for the highest level of travelling allowance when used for official travel.
