  1. I haven't seen it read altitude higher on a Samsung/Android tablet/phone - can you provide an authoritative link? Maybe the iPads read low.
  2. Or they are neutral with the way the organisation is being run and are unable to form an opinion about who to vote for.
  3. Nah! but. I'm happy with the cheapy - Tab a7 Lite. It recently flew me from YSBK to YHID without missing a beat. The Tab S6 Lite stayed in the bag and I never felt the need to watch Hi-Def movies. And I have also done lots of planning to Carnarvon and Tasmania. The downside of any EFB, regardless of cost, is the inability to control the winds and rain. RWY works best with at least 64Gig and mapping across to an SD card when you first buy is both cheap and easy.
  4. The Tab A7 Lite 4G can probably be picked up for less than $400. It has enough grunt to run RWY but needs to have an SD card installed to expand the capacity beyond 32GB. Maybe if you wanted to watch hi-def videos spending $850 might be justified but it is still like watching TV on a teeny-weeny small screen. An extra $400 buys a lot of beers or AvGas.
  5. Samsung Tab S6 Lite is a good choice and you get a stylus. It works well with RWY. Make sure you get the LTE (4G) version so you have a choice about using Mobile Data (Telstra if you want good coverage off the beaten track) I'm also using a Samsung A7 Lite 32GB LTE (with an extra 120GB of Storage) The A7 Lite (8") is great in a crowed cabin and performs reasonable efficiently.
  6. Will things change now that there is no longer any protection from the LNP for this private enterprise boondoggle?
  7. Both the Hex code and rego can be changed in the SkyEcho and should follow the codes in the transponder (hex Code) and the plane rego. If there is no transponder in the plane you use a Hex code supplied by CASA and the plane rego (XYZ or R1234). The SkyEcho serial number is unique and police, CASA or EBay might help. I use mine on a variety of planes and change the transponder/rego codes or the CASA Hex/rego as required. I once forgot to change and my friends friends were asking why he had flown to Cessnock when in fact he was down at Griffith.😘
  8. What are NAND Hard Drives? - Easy Tech Junkie https://www.easytechjunkie.com/what-are-nand-hard-drives.htm
  9. The 0.206" and 1/4 inch plugs/sockets are not metric - both probably American. The Inch and English are both imperial not American or French.
  10. Or the two plugs are a carry over from the Wright Bi-plane comms and, like imperial measurements in the US, have never been superseded.
  11. In what way was the call for nominations not in accordance with the rules?
  12. But it is the conspiracy theorists who most stridently defend the indefensible - the difficulty with leaving them unchallenged is that, emboldened, they will come out with more outrageous claims which will be raised to the level of holy writ by their fellow travellers.
  13. Reserves can only be built up by achieving a surplus of income over expenditure (profit). RAAus doesn't have poker machines or a liquor licence to create the rivers of gold that you seem to imagine RAAus is achieving. I don't know what the reserves policy is but I imagine it is confidential so as not to attract the attention of greedy litigants and avaricious legal firms. If you read the Annual Report and attend the AGM you could ask the board - or better still run for a board seat.
  14. "The shit might happen" and the unspent portions of members subscriptions reserves have to be invested somewhere. Why not property? It would be unwise not to get the best returns on members funds.
  15. It might be a company but it is a not for profit owned by the members. There are disbursements, like wages for the staff, but the members get no dividends and the directors (elected by the members) might get lucky and score a Vegemite sandwich at the board meetings. You do have choice, you could go GA and I don't see anyone with a gun at your head forcing you to go flying.
  16. Mine works fine. Lodge a support request with RWY. They are pretty responsive.
  17. A given but the transponder and SE2 details should match, including the both Air raft Id and ICOA code, when the transponder has no ADSB-OUT and the SE2 IS transmitting.
  18. Make sure your Trig is set up with the right aircraft Id - ABC for GA or R1234 for RAAus and that you code the same into the SE2. FlightRadar24 can then see you properly and you can search it for your trips.
  19. Most organisations are subject to laws/rules that provide access to the membership register (in some way or other). Expulsion can, sometimes, be a bastard act of executive tyranny or an act of organisational self preservation.
  20. You could buy at The Oaks - not a bad little town - and enjoy the conviviality of Dave's Flying School.
