  1. Yep, youse are all lucky buggers. Sydney is a morgue at night. Friday I went to catch a trail from city to wentworthville. No service only a express train after 11.30 pm. Have to get off at black town for a return service which they announce will be along in 2 hours 45 min. The bus to cover track work, wait one hour. Three hours to get home on a Friday night. F##kin hopeless.
  2. You know it is a bit marginal when the pilot handbook quotes climb in... Feet per hour
  3. "Curvature of the earth", that is funny. But they are not quite that bad. A Cherokee 140 on the other hand relies on the madly sweating pilot and passengers stink to repel from the ground. Even mother nature has a sense of smell.
  4. As a motorcyclist of over 30 years, not all of us are idiots just like not all car or truck drivers are f**kwits. There is a huge difference between a crashed bike and the gyro. If you came across a bike accident where the frame came apart and the headstock and thus the front forks and wheel separated from the bike whilst in use and didn't occur from hitting a solid object, then it would be similar. It is incredibly rare for frame failure to cause a bike crash. If it was to happen you can be sure it would be a very big deal and the model would be grounded instantly. Modern bike frames are extremely strong and very overengineered. Just like in a aircraft accident it is very apparent if a frame breaks apart to cause a accident. Akin to a wing falling off. And lane splitting increases the traffic flow and reduces travel time greatly for a bike. It also means you are in front of the traffic which is the safest place to be, given the tintop drivers looking at GPS, playing with radios, bloody phones, doing makeup etc. If you drive and don't like bikes been faster in traffic from lane splitting, simple get a bike.
  5. No Phil, its what happens when strapped in the seat and you decide not to keep flying the aircraft. It is because no matter how much you try, you can not kiss your are goodbye.
  6. Also they obviously hit the water, so any injuries may have stopped them getting out and then drowned. Sad
  7. I reckon at that size you might be a bite o. The heavy and wide side.
  8. Well said Nev. Aviate, Aviate, Aviate.. .......stare at your bellybutton after you get out if the aircraft.
  9. Only problem is the Chinese would take control to protect their "assets and personnel" and fill it with fighters and missiles. Then we would discover some pollies allowed that in the contracts
  10. In the end he did well, and looks survivable. Looked like there were better spots though like a road alongside one of the fields. But that is easy say after the fact. Looks more like a modern version of a thruster.
  11. Damn that is a good parking job Just needs a buff and polish. .....
  12. Electric engines certainly are a very bright future for transporting us feeble humans. They are also damn fast and have huge torque. Friends laughed 20 years ago when I said man will fly electric and their use in cars would be common in 20 years. It was obvious when you understand the technology.
  13. The need for food etc at home is irrelevant. It is the idea of moving such a massive climate controlled moving city across the plant for a tiny human weight fraction. It is a incredibly wasteful way to travel.
  14. If comparing the ship to aircraft, it depends on what we measure. If it is passengers then the plane will always win. Why? The ship is 99.99% not passengers by weight, it carries a massive bulk just for luxury, staff, food, grog, entertainment, pools, casinos. It is incredibly inefficient, however if it is airfrieght vs a cargo ship the opposite is true.
  15. I have seen one with a rotax and radial cowl on web, looked great and apparently a lot faster. A 582 would be the go I think or a verner twin or the triple.
  16. My money is on it been hit by Russian rebels with something. Damage is bit too specific on rudder also burn damage on other rudder and in front on rudder by looks of it along the fuselage. I reckon some damage from a missile, where it explodes in proximity. They are a tough bird , the missile was possibly a partial dud. I reckon damaged undercarriage as well. Hence landed off field in snow to not stuff up the runway. Things are pretty hot in Ukraine since Putin went on ego trip and he knows Trump will do nothing but kiss his arse.
  17. It has a very large chunk of the left rudder missing. Curious
  18. What about the poor who don't have a spare two hundred?
  19. Bit crap that a diet from CSIRO which is owned by us charges for a diet that helps reduce health costs to the nation. Typical neo capitalist crud.
  20. True, but you have to get the bugger started and that is a risk, that I like to avoid.
  21. They are not toy jets...………………………………………..they are for roasting marshmallows. That's why the canopy opens from a rear hinge, so you can reach.
  22. Don't forget that," Jesus Christ superstar, burned around the corners on his Yamaha, the cops where there but he didn't care". We sung that at school, so motorbikes are ancient
  23. Ah the golden old days if my fading youth,.......... I would happily give a kidney( someone else's as I only have two half ones) to have my r100cs (worked) and mk3 guzzi le mans back in the man cave. I kick myself daily for ever selling them.
  24. French cars rock end of story- as long as they are made in France. A lot of seventies ones sold here were made CKD as kits in the same factory as horrid Toyotas, leylands etc. Had quite a few awesome 504 pugs and a crap aussie made one (better than any ford, holden etc but not a French made one). Also had a reggie 12 and bro has a citroen c5 wagon, absolutely awesome wagon.
  25. Don't know of any here in Aus. But and here is the big but- they have a design flaw in how the loads are transmitted around the pilot esp in a crash. Have a read on homebuilt airplanes forum- lots of discussion about it on there. Have a look at the Texas parasol while your at it, probably a much better design and lots flying
