  1. Get him to join this site would be a good start and home built airplanes.com. If he speaks English, if not Google translate helps. A wooden design like mini Max with free plans would be a good start, he has a V twin and redrive already. Suitable wood should be available in Cambodia cheaply. Wood is the best candidate for his local. Some knowledge on physics of flight would help a great deal. That is where I would start, need to get in contact through BBC I guess.
  2. Maybe try Ole Hartmann at AAK Taree. He should be able to help or point you to someone who can.
  3. Hi Carlos, How about some shows on local manufacturers like AAK at Taree. Lots going on and might get the word out to buyers overseas. Same with Jabiru and Protected etc.celebrate the locals. Just a thought. Keep up the great work
  4. That must be the "yellow peril". That Howard was worried about
  5. Both are great ,. The Jabbawocky are my choice
  6. A case of he/she with the biggest bladder wins.
  7. Great Goulburn girl, one of the noteworthy locals. As is George Lazenby aka James Bond. And some forgettable ones like me.
  8. Aero commander..........drool
  9. True but it is cheaper to go RAA then upgrade and you have more experience more hours same costs etc. I am sure it made sense for him to go with avion as they have sponsored him I am sure. They can afford a marketing budget to suit.
  10. I can see the school's view but as a industry and sport the RAA needs to be pushed as the starting point that is cheaper and less intimidating for potential flyers. Given the cost of many school and after school stuff like sport, a rec cert is not out of the question for many. A high school down south coast NSW was doing something like this. Given the option of a flying course or business studies, I think It is a no brainier.
  11. Yes a damn lucky lucky lucky ...........barstard. Sponsorship and crowd funding are much easier these days - but he may still have to pay something. But a well done facetwitt campaign as he goes should sort him out. Now how can I get folks to pay a greying bloke like me to do the same? I will fly anything that stays off the ground but the slower ones mean more stops, more beer as consumables. I will happily do talks on anything to anyone if that helps. Any sponsors?
  12. I like anything above stall speed plus 10 knots, being in the air is what counts. But if doing the big circuit of Oz, speed on a tank full does reduce fatigue and is better on the bladder. It is a long way and extra distance per hour is your friend. I always like a bit of grunt and range in reserve for comfort. 30 plus years of motorbikes has taught me that. A bit like touring on a 250 compared to a BMW flat twin, both fun but one is much more relaxed to really enjoy the trip, at any speed. Mind you I am happy to have a postie bike with wings.
  13. Catholic actually . At school we called em penguins. I will just go back to my box.
  14. Sounds good. But you need lube when giving a Nun a squirrel or use a muffle.
  15. . Which at 110 knots is plenty really, that's still a long way between fueling and a lot better than slugging away at 90 and a lot cheaper than a Cesspool 172. Yes it would be more sports car then Cessna taxi but that is the point, more of a adventure . And at a price of training and costs that are accessable compared to a Cessna. For the young crowd and their sponsors- parents that can be a deal breaker. Also you have to really try to kill yourself in a Jabberwocky. So in mind much safer
  16. I agree big things are coming. Creative uses we never thought about.
  17. That repo show is pure crap A perfect example of Trump's fake America
  18. Ok I admit Vmar were the worst but it comes in a close second
  19. The 430 can do a easy 110 knots.
  20. Yep, If it can't kill you real easily it is boring for most youngsters these days. Good on him but he should be using a Jabbawocky J430 which given normal hire prices would be half paid for if second hand. And showing a young bloke doing the trip in a local design and home built plane would be a better inspiration in my book. But good on him anyway.
  21. I put this in RC as it was remotely controlled. Want to base jump without a big tower or cliff? Here is the solution............ Besides the benefit of more height and potential to do it without getting arrested for climbing a tower/building etc, it gets you away from the structure and the risk of slamming into the tower- as has proved fatal to many a dare devil. Peeps just keep getting more inventive with drones and their uses.
  22. Looks and sounds the part. Maybe the Pheonix models have improved a great deal- must have or it was strengthened a lot. I remember early ones built from poplar and any other wood except for balsa and spruce- truly a self exploding machine. It must be better or he rebuilt it and added strength then recovered. This brand was really shoddy last time I used one- self imploded on low g turns. That was 4 years ago so maybe they are better. He must have faith to put that motor in it.
  23. Spoken like a pilot who knows the real world uses and abuses of such a beasty. I agree, the Superstol might be great as a party trick but the Hornet is mighty handy and has a enormous cargo hold. Ole is in my opinion the best maker of tough stol planes in the world- built for real world bush conditions and strong enough to survive mishaps. The Superstol aircraft are a bit fragile in my opinion esp if all goes to poo - that lovely light structure is not a great friend in a crash. I am a big fan of alloy covered aircraft with a substantial cockpit structure- the Hornet is all that and more. Ole will even do a very cool full shock absorber suspension rear for you, if real hard landings are your thing, or towing gliders etc. He also has all the other designs including the new Flamingo- If that machine is not Super stol enough, I will eat my hat. Do yourself a huge favour and have a trip to Taree, call before and I am sure your will have a fun time and get a flight in one of his machines, plus a factory tour. I am sure you will leave with a new understanding of these Stol aircraft. Then you will be in a much more informed position to make a decision. If the Rotax thing is a bother- he can do a radial Rotec, a Lycoming, your own engine-say a car motor or even a turboprop if you can afford it. If it is just cost you could consider a used engine instead.
