  1. Airport privatisation and CASA rules hurting businesses, owners and expert says - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
  2. And there is always a problem getting the flaps to stay on one setting.
  3. The Lightning Aircraft of the Gods. That would be worthy of a airshow. Now I am jealous. Damn red you did it again
  4. And since they buried the F111's that means no glorious dump and burn. Everything is boring after that.
  5. Welcome aboard and have fun back in the air.
  6. I don't love crowds nor being part of the herd and been ripped for crap food drink etc. Just like riding bikes I rather do than watch. A bike rally for eg. Is about the ride not destination same with flying.
  7. . Nor should you. If you piss some off and that group changes from time to time then you are doing the right thing
  8. I like the RAAF style ranks. It is a private recreation air force and no disrespect to the actual RAAF. It is fun like Ian said.
  9. Finding the spirit of Australia on a motorbike with wings. They were interviewed last week on radio national Good stuff
  10. Looks like a interesting way to get a Darwin award. I reckon he might succeed. But he might know what we don't: that he will not black out from blood pooling in his brain. As his brain is obviously in his arse.
  11. Wow- That is incredibly cheap for 95hp
  12. I would swear he went backwards a couple of times. Well done, now he can change those undies.
  13. I went to school with two notable young fellows Constantine Dominico ie Condom And Wayne Cockburn naturally he insisted it was said Coburn
  14. Hey for my money- If Bex can do a 10 grand kit- good on him. I could then add some cheap instruments, grab a BMW motor for 2 grand add redrive and bingo I would have a sub 20 grand aircraft. Not everyone wants or demands a new rotax up front or Jabiru. Damn give they guy some credit for what his is doing. Not everyone has $100k to splash around nor should they.
  15. I can only comment about in bike use. They are bloody tough motors but the early ones had box and drive unit problems. But that is irrelevant for a aircraft. I would happily have one in a aircraft and given a choice between a rotax and a BMW even at the same price- (they are far ,far cheaper). Would go the BMW.
  16. Close Red but no cigar. The Fugly Mk1 is actually quite a bit different to the Burnelli. Have a look at the tail, and the engine nacelles. You may be thinking of the Buutt Fugly Mk11
  17. Yes the Fugly Mk1 is a interesting design. If you look carefully you will notice it does not have engines just props. After testing it was decided engines were not needed. The looks been sufficient that the Earth repelled it from the ground. It was only when employing attractive stewardesses who could flash out the window were the looks improved enough to allow mother Earth to permit landing. Sadly chaining the girls to the aircraft to keep it ground bound between flights was considered poor form. Alas it did not prove a commercial success. This caused the end to the promising career of chief designer Dr Rectum Ring Spitter. Although rumours abounded that he was noticed by Stalin for his undoubted genius and was whisked away in the middle of the night. It is thought he headed Russian Car Design team for 40 years.
  18. I expect the Rotax 915is will be easily in the $35-40,000 range when landed and has the FWF bits added. But could well be a lot more.
  19. That would be a twin engined Fugly Mk1
  20. Well it is quite simple really (cynic alert) Avmed specialists and sleep specialists love to send their mates work and it is the same from most specialties in medicine. They and some in CASA also probably have shares in RESMED which makes billions out of this new area of medicine- ie sleep, snoring and aponea. And to top it all the (I assume) private hospital you had to do the sleep study in also makes a packet of dollars and probably gives some kickbacks to the referrer. Then there is the bloke you bought the machine from- could be any of the above. It is a great way of boosting economic growth for medicine and buck passing and everyone above wins but you and the taxpayer.
  21. It matters not if climbing or level it is the difference in lift between the tail and wing is what does it. The attitude of the aircraft is to a degree irrelevant- as long as the tailplane is still generating a greater amount of lift than the mainplane (wing) which is naturally not providing any lift at all in the stall. The ability of the tailplane to overcome the lift of the tail and provide a pitch down movement by applying the elevator full stick back when in a stall a) is overcome by the complete loss of lift from the wing b)and the fact the angle of attack of the tailplane obscures the elevator when in a nose high attitude. The greater the angle of attack the greater the loss of effectiveness of the elevator. That is the way I think about it- but could be wrong
  22. Well said . Essentially the tail is still creating lift and the wing is not. Wing tips down as tail continues to lift. Like a seesaw. Which is just as it should be. If the tail failed first to provide lift then recovery could be a huge problem and you could plummet tail first to the ground.
  23. Certainly is eyecatching. Looks like the love child of a aircraft and Mork from Ork's spaceship. But is cool.
  24. Contis did sound nice but the best was always a good open reverse cone pipe. On the Guzzi it was explosive fire farts for starting and volcanic when riding. Pure heaven But the neighbours really bloody hated it. Such sweet music
  25. Finally a easy one Harman Rocket Radial RG:cheers:
