  1. It was Christmas eve and Santa was getting ready for his flight operations He checked his load was all secure Checked his weight and balance Checked that all reindeer were healthy, full of fuel and had no leaks and properly secured to the airframe. He walks back inside and gives Mrs Claus a big kiss and cuddle, grabs his flight bag and walks out to his sled. Suddenly he notices some bugger with a clip board and CASA on his shirt. The inspector explains he is doing a ramp check and needs to see his log book and permit. Santa starts to sweat and hands over the documents. Mr CASA looks over Santa's check list, weight and balance calculations, log book and permits. He checks over the aircraft, feels the undercarriage of the reindeer and seems satisfied. But then says "I am sorry mate you can not fly until you have your BFR" Bugger exclaims Santa, the kids will be spewing. Mr Casa looks at him, sees his distress and says " look how about we do a short flight around the Arctic circuit and if you skills are current I can sign you off" Santa with great relief agrees and they climb in. Santa does his taxiway checks and rumbles down the runway, and gently takes off under full deer power then starts to climb. He looks across at the inspector and sees a sly grin on his face and thinks cool, I am going to nail this review. All of a sudden Santa hears a large bang and Rudolfs head is blown clean off and the sled is covered in brain matter and blood. He turns to see the inspector has a shotgun and a huge grin on his face and screams- " What the f..k did you do that for" Mr Casa calmly states " Engine failure after Take off"
  2. And the Saudi's are apparently funding ISIS as well. The violent Wahabbi sect of Islam was a invention by the Saud family and a gut called Wahabbi in the 1730's as a means of taking control of the area. It really took root after WW1 and they have openly used oil wealth ever since to fund its spread around the world. Don't forget that the twin towers attack was by mainly Saudi's. But they got a free ride and Afghanistan and then Iraq copped it.
  3. NO quite obviously If you are cuddling the man next to you- you are not safe to cross
  4. Worrying about a bolt leaving your engine is not over reacting, irrespective how it happened. Unless you are 100% sure it was left loose- you have a potential problem, and it could be a fatal one. Aircraft do not suffer fools.
  5. News from Gizmag- The FAA has mandated that all recreational drones must be registered fro next near with penalties and jail for those that do not comply. http://www.gizmag.com/drones-government-registration-faa/40906/ Seems pretty sensible to me, but naturally those who have criminal intent in mind will not.
  6. Also mention that a trial flight with instructor is quite cheap and a great way to have a good time and something most will never experience. It is a great present for a loved one as well.
  7. Hey sex is meant to be messy, or you not doing it right
  8. So that is two 9 series rotax motors throwing a throughbolt. I would be worried, if they have done it once then will likely do it again. Have these problems been reported? Has anyone else had this happen?
  9. Which one, the radial or lycoming? Radials are sexy
  10. More mention of the real world cost associated with purchase new or second hand would be good. Ie. for the price of a average fishing boat, motor and trailer you can get a factory built Jabber. Or for the cost of a basic new 4wd and camper trailer you can get a flash new aircraft etc You can travel australia far cheaper than in a 4wd per km travelled. Aircraft don't loose 45% of value after only 3 years ownership like a car or 4wd. In fact the actual cost of ownership after depreciation, other fixed costs etc even if hangered is less than a new 4wd per year. You can get a nice single seater for the price of a new jet ski or motorbike. Those sort of comparisons to put things into context cost wise. The fact you will pay less for a service/inspection than many common cars. That a folding wing aircraft can be trailered home and kept in the same spot as many caravans or boats. There are no speed limits in the sky just fly to the conditions. Your safety is not dependent on the drunk or distracted driver coming the other way etc.......... Lots of good arguments why it is affordable compared to many choices for recreation we make. And it is FUN.
  11. Do not tell anybody- they will say you have a Jabiru engine, as we all know Rotax engines are perfect:stirrer:
  12. I hope you fellas are putting down a deposit any time soon. But it is feasible compared to Mollers skycar. I fear it is just vapourware
  13. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh..... might be onto something there. That must be why Tony Abbott runs around in budgie smugglers, he wants the rest of us men to feel well endowed
  14. A leadwing is very smooth- but I would think quite heavy. Geoff has one I think. Maybe he can volunteer his motor for weigh in.
  15. Yes apparently it is a myth- but a good one and well deserved. They are a aircraft engine maker and have a long history building them. As do Mercedes, Volvo, SAAB and even Alfa Romeo.
  16. Did I read correctly they had some inflatable mattresses in thw ings but not inflated? And had no life jackets?
  17. Here is a ABC report on Japans Cabal- http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-02/lifting-the-lid-on-one-of-the-most-influential,/6996204 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-02/nippon-kaigi-and-the-rise-of-nationalism-in-japan/6994560
  18. Unfortunately for the Japanese people, there is a tiny group who deny anything wrong happened and wish to return to the ways of the old Japan. They also happen to be the ones in power and totally disregard the wishes of the people. The grouping is a few thousand people and could only be described as a cabal hell bent of making Japan a militarist power. Shinzo Abe is one and prime minister.
  19. Solicitors and and prostitutes in the same street- how could you tell the difference?
  20. A Tucano and a beautiful female pilot, much more fun than tweeking some computer.
  21. Why would be done by CASA be double jeopardy? I don't see the relevance, as RAAus can not send you to court or fine/goal you?
  22. Obviously for a man to fly is against God, and he has been smitted
  23. But what if you don't want sex with a Queen?
  24. I could hardly call it cowardice to attack military sites nor immoral on japans side. They did declare war but the timing was stuffed up. And anyway slamming the enemy as or before you declare is common practice. What was immoral for me was bombing with Nukes when it was civilians that died, Japan was already toast power wise and could have been starved out quickly at that stage. Just because the soldiers kept fighting does not justify mass murder of ordinary people. That is a war crime. The same can be said of the fire bombing of cities in Germany especially Dresden- of no strategic importance but the mass murder of people. To purposely kill civilians is evil and a war crime. It was completely different to the bombing of London which was small scale in comparison and designed to damage morale. Not complete death for all- even the bomb shelters in Germany were no refuge as the fire bombing removed all oxygen from the city. And that was by design- not a accident. Bomber Harris was very keen to kill as many as civilians as possible. This does not excuse the war crimes by the Japanese or Germans, but must be put into perspective. The US, British and Russians were guilty of many war crimes as well. They all had a lot of civilian blood on there hands and with full knowledge- not by some accident. If we look at the pacific war in context- Pearl harbour was possibly the most morally carried out battle. But the outrage and vengeance is all out of proportion.
  25. I have no experience with them, but it should be fine for parts and service. They are made here in Australia, and given the price of a rotax rebuild, I would be surprised if they were anything as expensive to fix or rebuild.
