    Hey Lewis. Have you found a flight school yet? I've just started training at Coominya. It's a bit of a drive for me too(1hr from Springfield) but John is a great instructor and he has three hangars with about 15-20 planes there and was talking about building another if you wanted to get hangarage.

    Thanks Everyone for your support. This site is such an invaluable resource that this afternoon I joined the "First Class" club. I now have the money for lessons and textbooks so why not help Ian and the Team at Recreationalflying to support other would-be pilots like myself. Don: my cfi said he'll go over Straight & Level again in the rough stuff when I've progressed a bit. There was hardly any turbulence thismorning. Pete:Next week I'm doing Thursday morning so I can go to Bundy but the week after ive booked Sunday and will probably keep going each Sunday morning.

    I just wanted to share the excitement of my first lesson. I've chosen John Walmsley from Coominya Flight Training to be my CFI. He is really friendly and knows his stuff. We started with about half an hour of theory going threw some basics which was good and he was impressed with how much I already knew, thanks to the past year and a half of reading everything I could get my hands on and the wonderful, thought provoking threads on this forum. Today's lesson was straight AND level. Knowing the theory and having the stick in your hand are two very different things. After I got the hang of the gentle touch we started with some 30* turns. The first few where a bit messy and I kept overshooting the mark on the angle and heading, and the difference between turning left and right was confusing aswell but by the end I was flying the aircraft almost like a pilot. I've booked in my next few lessons already and look forward to working hard towards my Pilots Certificate and beyond. Chris Kent.

    In my grand knowledgable experience(0.8 hrs on two TIF's) I was told to lead with the rudder. The CFI I'm about to start training with went as far as showing me a 'hands off' turn, as a demonstration, where he rolled the wings with rudders secondary effect, conducted a balanced turn, then rolled out with rudder. I know this isn't the way to turn but showed the power and importance of the rudder. Also, isn't the secondary effect of the elevator to change the airspeed? Or is that not classed as 'secondary effect'

    It moved to Caboulture because Watts Bridge wasn't big enough for the amount of people last year.

    I went last year when it was a Watts Bridge. Im definitely going this year. I hope caboulture has as much (car) parking space as Watts Bridge.

    Craig Lowndes is doing flight training at Cabouture. The article didn't say if it was RAA but it would be great if it was.

    I went up today with John in the nose wheel. He was doing circuits with another student in the tail dragger when I got there. It was great fun and John was really nice. Im going to start doing lessons next Sunday. It has a great atmosphere at the BBQ area and I was there for about an hour after my lesson having a cuppa and a chat. I'll probably see you around.

    Hey Pete. Im going for a TIF at Coominya tomorrow. Do they change the gear on the Sport2000? Or is there more than one plane? I'm not sure if I'm going up with John or Kent but im sure it will be a great day.

    The description says "ready to fly" so any defect that makes it un-airworthy would void the sale contract. The auctions finished so it's up to the buyer now.

    Is this the Red one on eBay? I would suggest reading the "Sharks in Aviation" thread and seriously consider the advice. Im not saying its a scam but could cost a bit to get airworthy if there is some unknown problems.

    I was an Automotive Detailer for 8 years. Working for toyota then Mercedes Benz. Now working as a Toolmaker(2nd year apprentice) for an Automotive OEM Manufacturer and loving the technical stuff. I would realy like doing that. My work doesnt have a metrology lab and neither does the tafe i go to.

    The last "GA Flying" magazine I bought was the one with the 'learning to fly' centre booklet. It pretty much said don't bother going Raa,cause your not aloud to do this that and the other, so I didn't bother buying it again.

    G'day Redoz, Did you do two different courses? Tafe and the FTF? Do you think the Ground School has helped with your training, eg. saved flight time and/or made you a better pilot? Chris Kent.

    Two minutes was an over statement. It was 20 seconds, for a good cause. Everyone can spare 20 seconds!

    What's wrong with the word Recreational? Obviously it can't be 'Recreational Flying' but what about 'Recreational Pilot'?

    Let's call it 'Pacific Flyer'. They have the same stories (and ad's) anyway.

    "If" I was going to buy one I'd get the basic GPS. All the 'bells and whistles' would be better on the 10 inch screen EFB.

    I know it's not written as a reg. But CASAs Flight Instructor Manual says in the Chapter on Stalling, "Before carrying out any advanced stalling exercise it is important that sufficient height is gained to ensure recovery by 3000 feet above ground level and that the aeroplane is in the appropriate training area."
