  2. Welcome to the forum.. look forward to hearing your story , what your flying , why you like flying. ? always interested to hear other peoples experiences. I only joined 2 weeks ago and only have 2.5 hours up. Along way to go.. Dave
  3. Thanks planey, you are right, sure was re living the day! Sure is something to look forward too each week. The jab on FSX will not work, the files apparently are too old. I noticed the file was for FS 2004. I will keep looking or someone might create one . Just so you know, Bushpilot from these forums is my instructor!
  4. Have had my second lesson today and was basically allowed to take off .... great feeling, the Jab really is a great aircraft! Today was learning, slips, minor turns and basic control of the aircraft! I look forward to next Wednesday for round 3.
  5. That is some positive comments and re inforcement i will keep in my brain for my turn.. how many hours are you upto Rach? The gong airport was the one at Albion Park ? I was in a Cessna 208 for a skydive jump in March. One day will head down that way. Keep up the stories.. for newies its great. Dave
  6. I rather the saying " life is like a chox of bocolates""
  7. I have FSX and using a Dell Quad Core Q6600 chip with 4 gig ram and 768 mb Video card. Vista 32 bit is used at the moment, i can get upto 35 fps. Most of the time would be around 25 fps. I am looking at formatting HDD and going to Win 7 64 bit, which will give me better frame rates and then can also increase Ram to 8 gig if i wanted too. I also use a 22 inch monitor and a 19 inch monitor for the gauges separate to the cockpit view. Handy for GPS, ATC and Engine monitoring. I had a look at my FSX log and have completed 448 landings, heck of alot of flying, now i can look at doing the real thing with my training. How many people use Autopilot ILS/APP when approaching ILS cat 3 airports ? Found a great website for USA airports giving you all the required info for ILS, VOR or GPS Approaches. Will post it soon. Dave
  8. Some fantastic pointers here, i only live 10 min from airport, a guy i work with ( experienced pilot) advised doing 3 lessons a week to get you solo and then back off after that to maybe 1 lesson a week. It does come down to cash of course.. I will have a good think of what to do next. I have a week before my next lesson.
  9. Well Done Rach, congrats! I bet it felt great! I am yet to land once, so i am sure will feel just the same as you after one landing! Keep the fun going! Dave
