  4. Thanks everyone, sure feels bigger and heavier! Tomo its a 172 p, 1999, 180 hp Fuel inj.. VH-BAC. I do agree, speeds, trim, never had to trim so much!! lol. Easier to land i think, Jabs so much lighter! Like them both for their own reasons! Mick, spacious all right.
  5. Hey all, Yesterday was another first, solo in C172 at Bathurst, after 2 years of flying Jab 230 and 160, have moved onto GA for my PPL.! Basically a conversion ,after 3 hours instruction, instructor was happy to let me solo after completing relevant theory exams etc.! It was a great day for it also, not a breath of air, pretty good day! CW Flying at Bathurst now teach GA as well as RAA, using Bathurst Aeroclubs C172. A little different to the Jab, but fun all the same! Dave
  6. As much as your possibly nervous, try and think of it as another flight, not a test.. relax the best you can, pretend he/she not even there! Im sure you will pass with flying colours!
  7. OWI... glad you liked the video mate.. Will be very busy with the DA approvement of airpark.. oops, you are correct, i did forget of the vacate call of strip.. I was concentrating where to park , side of strip was wet. Luckily not a busy airport the day i flew. IM normally spot on with calls, first one missed.. good pick up. Cheers
  8. Tomo, yes camera is mounted slighty higher , always a good aspect though! I try and get the best perception! The 230 is a great plane, i learnt in the 160, but only flown twice in 5 months.. Love the speed and stability. Longer wings is great for this plane! I want to try the P2008 soon, or even the Bristell.. Ive heard both are fantastic.
  9. Thanks Tomo, was full flap in Jab 230, pretty well 70 knots... Usually only one stage if a good x wind..

  17. What a broad range of careers, yet we all come back to Aviation! Ive been an electrician for over 20 years, working at large commercial sites, Lithgow jail when built in 1990, apprentice with energy company back in 1987.. moved through many different smaller companies wiring houses, general electrical work, maintenance work. Joined Clyde engineering in 1991 and wired many locomotives for state rail and then Qld Railways, keep and eye on those Blue and white, Yellow locos, stating with 81- , possibly worked on them all! Moved back into energy company from 1998, been a dispatcher from 2003 , renamed Essential Energy as of last year, we cover a large area of NSW for electrical blackouts, also planned outages . Some people say its like working in Air traffic control, at some stages , just as busy and adrenalin rush when shit hits the fan! (storms ) . My love of flying goes back to young child, father always had me in planes , only began flying training in 2010, finally completing Nav endorsement in Jan.. Will be starting flying instructors course this month.. hopefully one day , will purchase my own plane! Dave
  18. Mark, i got my camera from Mendolsons , or ozpilot.com in Melbourne, $640 postage worth ringing, or i might be able to get cheaper via CW flying, as they buy from them all the time, let me find out! A good camera, you setup via software, then can also control camera via Blue tooth if camera outside plane. Amazing, also has GPS built in! The camera is 1080p, many different settings as well! Photos, 720 p, 360 mode, low light, audio levels! Very happy, i do have Go Pro HD, but doesnt have the audio socket to plug into cockpit audio.. winsor 68, i have another vid which isnt uploaded, has the finish of the taxiing on grass and shut down .. I certainly enjoyed the experience . Surprising how busy the traffic was, but really how easy it was to fit in and land with plenty of separation, hearing Unicom talking was a blessing, great work everyone! Dave
  19. After many hours of this uploading last night, its now done! This is the last part ..Dave
  20. Hey all, I made my first trip to Natfly from Bathurst along with many others.. I was very impressed with how organised everything was! Temora Unicom, fantastic! Not forgetting Temora ground! I flew in Jab 7525 a 230D. I recorded the inbound flight along with Audio from cockpit, have a listen ,Some of you might hear your callsigns.. My inbound call was at approx 945am on 7th April. Approach and landing phase Clip is currently uploading, will post link when complete. David
  21. Had a great flight down , arriving in Jab 7525 at 945am, nice headwind when departing bathurst, although dropped back after Cowra! Took 1 hr 15min, pretty smooth the whole way also, approach was quite easy using 23 , very well orgnised for my first fly in! Love the day, wind on ground was suprising, wife never bought jacket, bit cold, warmed up nicely later though. Love the selection of aircraft around, wish had more $$$$$$ The Lightning , very nice, Tecman 2008 took my eye also. So many i could easily take home! Flight home was a little quicker with a nice tailwind, departing 2pm, home by 303.. tracked via Wyangala Dam back to YBTH. Look forward to next year! Dave
  22. Sounds like a great turn up this year! All Jabs from Central West Flying (Bathurst ) are all doing the trip, one on Friday, all others on Sat morning! Looking forward to meeting some peeps..
