Never enough hours in the Jab, my wife used to treat it like a station wagon. Lately lockdown doesn't help and I can't even get to the airport at all. I saw there is an airport at Mallacoota. Anyway, the screen doesn't really matter, I only use it for basic setup before switching to VR. I set a shortcut in X-Plane to turn on vr and off. Funny, last night the cable for headphones normally unplugged coming from the headset was interfering with the sensors and made for stuttered images. Glad I worked that out. I understand about the PC, way too many options. Take a look at youtube https://www.youtube.com/user/col2mab As for the headset, Oculus is owned by Facebook if that's not an issue. I heard HP are pretty good but I'm going to stick with HTC for the moment if I had to upgrade. One final thing, you can tell if you need to adjust the graphics settings in VR if you are getting sick from the jitters in the graphaics. I tried everything max and got sick.

You can fly RAAUS without one and just can't go to certain airports. Security Controlled ones I think.

Just be careful, they can fail.

It’s not easy to drain, do you think they used the drain points? When I’m flying to another airport, not sure how I could use a camera when I cover my plane.

Since I've a glass cockpit, I always take a photo of my display for the hobs and fuel so I know how much fuel I need when I go to the airport next. Sorry to hear about being bone dry. Glad you have a chance to fly though.

I test flew the 170 and 230 with Sue at Narromine ages ago and loved the 230. I stretched my finances to get it but after 11 years I still love it. Just a pity I can’t fly at the moment, hence a lot of VR.

I know your area. I used to do windsurfing wave comps there in the 80’s. I don’t mind helping, you can get MWave to make a ready made machine for you. As for the plane, I could only see a J160 and because this isn’t real, I preferred flying something I can’t afford and faster. I wouldn’t wait for apple, they did do something a few years ago then lost interest. You needed a high end Mac and they were too expensive. You really do need high end otherwise you’ll get sick. I can’t even turn everything to its highest settings on my setup. I forgot to mention but make sure you also get 321 of ram. The next version of x-plane is going up a next level for graphics but I don’t know how much grunt that will need. I think they might announce something in a couple of weeks at an expo. It’s already on their website with visuals.

Recently I purchased a way overpriced knobster because that's the only bad thing about VR is it's difficult to turn knobs. I use AirServer so I can use AirPlay and use my iPad in the VR. To get it to appear in X-Plane I use MoveVR. Expect to take a few minutes setting up before flight till you get used to the procedure of loading things up. Hope that helps.

I eneded up buying a PeeCee for the VR. Using HTC Vive and and I can't go back to a normal flight sim now. Still use the mac for all real work, PC just for sim.

I can't wait till the tech starts coming to aircraft, this is one of the reasons I prefer mogas to avgas. Maybe I'm wrong but minus the lead and I assume cleaner burning. Rotax has been trying to improve their current line up if you can afford the newer engines but one day they need to change, we all need to change.

There is only one direction EV's are going at the moment around the world. Australia, thanks to the govt is a laggard. Likely because of this Australia might become a dumping ground of ICE cars. That's a different setup than mine. Mine covers the cowling and the bottom half. I can't find a photo with mine on.

Katoomba is where I always seem to get closest to other aircraft. One time my ADSB picked up an aircraft, even Sydney Centre called out the other aircraft who did not change his path or speed at all. I did both. Another time a RPT was inbound to Dubbo and it gave me plenty of time to plan and prepare. The radio was my only other means for lookout. Having aircraft appear on my EFB adds to the prep. I still see planes outside the window but more often I see them on my EFB.

Haven't tried that since I now have a solar panel plugged into the plane in the hanger. Maybe I should test it since winter is coming and the Jabiru isn't great to start in the cold.

My radio isn't great first thing, for me if the battery is low the Jabiru doesn't provide enough power.

But the early adopters help fund the better technology in the future. It's still early days, cars are starting to see major changes. Aircraft will be slower to change but I'm sure it will happen.

Also, he doesn't say the duration with 2 batteries which is the default installation. I assume 1 hour is 4 batteries.

I would get rid of the chute and add more batteries.
