  1. I was the same though by the time I finished my certificate they had a 2nd aircraft which I could hire. I only rang one place to start learning.
  2. I have a flight line in my aircraft, it doesn't have a monitor freq and Jabiru put it in because the were having difficulties with the Dynon Skyview and noise with the Microair. I find it hard to read at times and wish I had a monitor frequency.

  4. Just did my BFR on Saturday and it's a reminder of the need to keep up the training, not just every 2 years. My execution was still good but not quite rote.

  8. Is it possible to show the start up sequence when you do your videos please? I enjoy when these turbines or large scale start up. Also love watching the landings.

  11. I heard it as well, I'm near Haberfield and it felt like it was directly over the top. Saw on an app saying it was a Cessna 206 but that's all. Was up there for about an hour. I saw something like this flying the same area on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago doing steep turns. I thought it was weird since it's restricted airspace and when it went the planes started coming in again for Sydney Airport. Must be some sort of surveillance.

  13. The same can be said about the skyview dynon radio, it's not TSO'd so I can't use it. I found that strange when I was asking about purchasing one. Secondly, sending out AVPLAN and Ozrunways data, you would have to cancel out data at ground level as a few times I have driven home after a flight and I'm still being tracked.
  14. I thought during the video he said only 2 seats. As far as I know you don't automatically get an increase to the MTOW. I know my Jab 230 can take more but I guess it will have to be re-certified and I guess I will need an endorsement as well. Would be nice to take full fuel and a passenger, especially some heavier passengers.
  15. What I did was buy a GoPro Camera, a GoPro Combo Cable so I can charge the GoPro with USB and get audio to it. You just need a cable to plug into your intercom, I bought one that plugs into the end of the headset and into the aircraft. The other plug into the GoPro combo. Just can't find the cable online at the moment. No dubbing needed, sounds pretty clear as well. You pick up all the radio traffic which is handy as well. One more thing, I had to change the housing so it wasn't the waterproof one so I could plug cables in the side.
  16. If you use an external GPS it uses less power. I also bought a fireproof lipo bag from hobby king for emergencies. Search results for: 'battery bag'
  17. Pretty sure they can fly solo but once you have your RA certificate you can't fly in Class D. Exemption only allows training.

  21. I don't fly enough so I use check lists. I wrote my own database after having played with others on the iPad and preferred mine. This is using FileMaker and runs on the iPad. I probably went over the top with the info there but I was on a roll.

  24. If my battery is low and I have turned on everything (I have a Dynon sky view as well), idling can cause my radio to be incoherent on transmit so I turn off the transponder and what ever I can or I guess which I haven't tried, rev the engine a bit.
  25. Nothing sudden, we monitored the situation and had a cut off if things got worse. To me the engine was sounding perfect, even when I did my BFR the instructor liked the sound, maybe too used to a 4 cylinder. About 3 cylinder heads were seaping oil after 25 hours and this was happening but there was a lot of oil the last 25 hourly.
