  1. A wing will stall at its particular AofAttack. We use the ASI as a guide only to what the AofA is. Eg at 1g in wings level flight at a particular wt the stall AofA will be reached at a certain airspeed ( eg 62kts) change any of those factors, wt, g loading, or banking the aircraft and the stall speed will change but not the stallAofA. So if you add a passenger the wt increases therefore the stall speed also increases as the stall AofA needs to provide more lift, however the stall AofA still remains the same ( in your example 16') the ASI is only a guide to the actual AofA, a crude AofA meter if you will.
  2. I like his style!
  3. No real difference, have a repair shop look at it and make up a quote for making the parts, cost of metal, time to cut and bend, fitting and finishing, etc, plus fudge factor(to allow for unseen or things that take longer than 1st thought. Where are you located? Tom
  4. Oh now I can see it, 100hp rotax. Good stuff. All the best with the test flying. Tom
  5. Very nice looking aircraft Rod. Well done. What engine ? Tom
  6. Seems a lot your parts can be easily made out of the correct aluminium sheet. Why not make the parts using the damaged parts for templates? Or have some one do it for you.
  7. I think he found a limit to the capabilities. Probably should not be done at air show. Safe flying first. I am sure he could put on an impressive display without taking it to the limit.
  8. A bit of pride damaged too I'd say. Glad he is ok. A bit of a twist to the smack down landing. It certainly was short.
  9. John I have an electric trim tab fitted to my j400 jabiru. Works well. Tom
  10. Ever heard of telephone briefing? Or fax?
  11. Ac Actually Nev the engine returns oil to the tank all the time while running so speed had nothing to do with it. I would be quite concerned if my rotax had that much blow by. But of course you can disagree.
  12. I always build pressure before I start it. After oil Change and also b4 1st flight of the day. Rotax 914
  13. We use ours everyday but don't use the recipes in the supplied book. Also make it the oven sometimes too( use bread maker to mix it).
  14. Lycoming 233 a bit heavy! A jab with rotax is an option if you are prepared to build. It makes a great combination. Tom
  15. When my elderly mum moved from her unit I took her freezer home. Several weeks later I discovered a loaf of Helga's in it(the freezer was off), the bread looked and felt like it was cooked that day! How much preservative is in it? Not good!
  16. We add sunflour & linseed seeds. Occasionally cheese & herbs. Fresh corn is nice too. We put the butter after it's cooked lol. Tom
  17. I haven't bought bread for several years, make our own, much nicer and only 90 cents a loaf including electricity! My wife said about the milk, if it's not fresh who wants it? Tom
  18. Actually I don't think fitting an electric trim this way is a good idea, it will change the control feel and may also limit control deflection. Is it 19 registered?
  19. You will need to check that if you hold trim lever fixed in both extreme up and down that there is still full control movement and that you can overpower the springs. Now if you move control full deflection the trim lever will be overpowered and will move on the friction washers. Tom
  20. Do you want to add an actuator to control existing trim mechanism or actuate a trim tab on elevator?
  21. Shorter wing much easier in a tight hangar too:)
  22. Difference between j2/400 & j2/430 is the longer wings 8m & 10m respecectively. If you have a j200 361kg sounds right with lots of stuff. My j400 is 345kg, friend has j400 and his is 335kg. The longer wings add about 15kg/wing. I have seen j230 at 385kg. A great aeroplane you would have to agree? Very happy with performance.
  23. A major supermarket chain has this printed on the label. "Fresh or it's Free!"
  24. 360kg empty seems a bit optimistic to me, probably closer to 380kg. Considered a j400 around 35 kg lighter with the smaller wings. Very happy with mine, family on board a few hours of fuel, esky of food, stroller, TO wt around 650 kg at the forward limit! I must add the constant speed prop is a great benefit. Tom
  25. Can I ask what is a forward aft? They are the same aircraft. Some early j200 had riveted struts whereas the j400 had bolts. Tom
