    Windsor I have to say I admire the fact he will stand up for his mate even though it appears his mate may have been caught in a situation of his own making. Just a real pity he had no where to go snd resulted in death and injury.

    What are the figures on a leak down test ? ?/80 psi then see what the rotax manual says is the limit. Manual says max leak 25% ie 60 psi. Always perform leak down on warmed up engine.

    I only have about 200 however I have worked on many rotaxes, I doubt you will find any glazing. Not difficult to remove head and cylinder to replace rings, have a look in the maintenance manual(heavy). I really like my rotax 914 powered jab! What plane is your 914 in? I have a 80 hp that I plan to install a small turbo then fit to a fox type aircraft, looking at 110-120hp.

    When you did the leak down where was it leaking? Exhaust or sump? Should not be difficult to rectify. What was the leak down figure? Perhaps best to rectify rather than keep flying it

    From the look of prop not producing much horsepower at impact. Hope they are alright.

    Rotax not a proper engine? Time to take the blinkers off.

    The scraper may damage the boom! You can try placing cloth soaked with thinners then wrapping plastic ( to slow the evaporation of thinners) over the cloth, leave for an hour then clean off. Don't try this over a painted surface or on fabric skins. Don't use heat gun near thinners, dispose of thinner soaked rag by placing in bucket of water 1st( and don't leave in the hangar or shed) to prevent spontaneous combustion.

    We don't generally pull heads just to have a fiddle. Only because they need to come off for a reason. If you can go 1000 hrs without pulling heads off I take my hat off to you.

    Sounds like a cap. Temps are a bit on the high side though. What aircraft?

    No problems running rotax on avgas for what you are planning. Rotax recommend oil change every 25 when using avgas

    I don't think the manual will tell you that information. I will have a look on mine and let you know.
