  1. Tower did a great job, as did the student. No injuries and the aircraft can be used again, which is also a good thing. Hope the instructor is OK, and I can't help wondering whether his wife might put the mockers on his flying after such a scare, which having three kids would be a natural reaction. I feel he must have had a bit of instruction in the past, which would have given him a few clues, thankfully. Well done all round.
  2. I'm with Thruster88 on this one, and wonder how The Wright Bros would view it if they were still around. Whilst they appear to be larrikins enjoying their achievement in a typical-Aussie jovial way, it was at least well way from others over the relative safety of water with one passenger who was prepared to take a risk. Development of so many things carry an element of risk in the initial stages, but that normally changes in time with design progress and some form of regulation. Try nothing, and that's the same as what you'll ever achieve. Fly-fishing now takes on a new meaning
  3. Planedrivel recommended an upgrade using the new 997cc 105E OHV bangers to overcome the embarrassment of being passed by cyclist out for their Sunday ride. Having been involved building some of the new robot welding equipment for the Dagenham Plant, he was confident it could handle the increase in power. He was experienced in such matters and used to teach a girl who lived up the street how to service a her car. She was the daughter of a chorus girl without too many morals and got excited when told her nipples looked a bit short of grease. and so... PS sorry hihosland got out of step there due to unexpected delivery.
  4. To throw a spanner in the works, does this help with the dreaded jet-lag we sometimes suffer?
  5. Large scale model of "Little Nellie" Brilliant!
  6. I'd be happy with just one dollar for every passenger Franks taken flying over the years. The bank manager would love me too! Or, even a few phone numbers, he takes up a heap of good looking sorts. then posts the photo's to make us envious. Such a happy man! No wonder!
  7. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-49226128 Very sad outcome for all concerned, as Sling 4 being flown by students from Cape to Cairo crashes.
  8. was trying to get the attention of the driver from Starlight Dairies as they needed a an extra couple of pints of gold top milk....
  9. Edison screw (ES) screws to the right, so does SES (Small Edison Screw, MES. (Memory Edison Screw is different). I'm too old to remember, but do wake up in the middle of the night sometimes with a smile on my face. Must be thinking I remembered something impotent!
  10. dictating the chosen new national style to which all males must conform. Those that abstain, may never be seen with their original style again. However....
  11. Of course! Short grass for faster take-offs Longer grass on landing strip Makes sense dunnit?
  12. it reminds him of a going nowhere fast Ford Mondeo with a stuffed tranny (read that as auto-transmission you politically corrects). Poor bugger probably regrets flogging off his Ford Prefect ?, but as Admin you have to try to maintain an admirable image, otherwise....
  13. I'd be hesitant putting my backside in the seat of one without full confidence in the pilot. They were very high performance for their type, but required good training to operate them safely and quite a high number have met their demise in them. Specific training for type mandated by FAA improved improved the statistics. Interesting read on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_MU-2
  14. It's a pity they don't also run water through pipes to the agricultural areas where it's needed most. This would also create income from exports as well as producing an income for farmers that supply the local markets. An interesting post. Thanks!
  15. While Admin can earn one for simply choosing to fly Sh*tstar, who now offer discounted blood-pressure monitors to their regular customers.........
  16. And for further good advice, there's always Graham Ross's Gardening Show on Radio 2GB 873am on Saturday mornings.
  17. Oh no! not another airport sale like Hoxton Park etc; etc; Maybe they should sell the airports pollie's use for commuting to Canberra until they find someone in government with a bit of vision Just don't hold your breath on that one.
  18. Not much restoration done yet methinks----overalls too clean!
  19. Don't worry about the seat pitch red, rumour has it that the seats are being redesigned with deep recesses for ones kneecaps. But the airfares may get a little cheaper:wink:
  20. Forgetting to put in the drain plugs before launching proves what seems to be a strange scientific fact. Water goes in faster than it comes out:wink: They also get very, very heavy in no time at all. Trust me!
  21. It looks like the conditions kept you very busy, but not a sick bag in sight:thumb up:. That's a bonus!
  22. I nearly put a reference to Sammy Davis Junior in my original post PMC, but refrained because these are respectable forums.

  24. Facthunter (Nev) is not on line at the moment, as a believe he may have ducked down to the bottle shop to get something to celebrate with? If he gets back before drinking the contents, he should tick over the 20,000 post's mark this evening, which currently stands at 19,995. What an achievment! and may it continue for many moons to come.. I for one, would like to pass on my sincere thanks to you Nev for all the knowledgable tips and wise contributions that you've posted over the years, which help us be a safer community and better pilots. I can assure you it is very much appreciated. Good on you mate, your efforts are worthy of some recognition. Well done! Kind regards Planey
  25. Great post and some brilliant photo's. Looks like a wonderful trip which may inspire others to replicate. Thanks for posting it.
