  1. For those that have not already done so, punch in Tucson Arizona in Google earth.

I have just done exactly that, and the views of the thousands of aircraft stored there are amazing.

You can then zoom right in till you are at ground level and move all around the site.

    It's well worth a look.

  2. That's a very serious breach, hope they adopt the Qantas way of doing things.

The Air France A330 which came down in the Atlantic due to ice crystals in the pitot tubes thus disconnecting the auto-pilot, indicates what catastrophic conditions can arise if they are not working correctly.

Not sure how they even managed to get it airborne, yet alone land it in one piece.(maybe Lady Luck was on board?)

  3. I was thinking JetStar must have had it in for the poor fellah, but then I remembered that they stuffed me up big time on 3 out of 4 trips with them, so now I wouldn't touch them with a 10ft barge pole.

In my view they are a total disgrace, which reflects badly on the good name of Qantas.

Tigerair used to be Australia's worst airline, but since being bought by Virgin, they have really turned things around, and for a discount airline I have found their service quite acceptable on numerous occasions.

  4.

My nephew went flying with this guy last weekend. Not in the Reliant Robin, but in his Calidus Gyro.

He's a character for sure, and has lots of other flying toys, including hot-air balloon, several paragliders and a modifed jet-ski for higher performance on those water jet thingy's IMG-20180717-WA0006.jpg.e13de63dc34400c94668891bcfeba4e9.jpg

The castle is Leeds Castle if anyone's interested, and obviously The White Cliffs of Dover.

  5. British Eagle flights to Australia were charter flights, most likely via Cairo, Sri Lanka, Singapore. Below is a photo of a British Eagle Britannia.

I flew on "Liberty" a couple of times. Found it quite luxurious after the DC3's and 4's I was used to. Though there was one occasion that I didn't think we going to make it climbing out of Perpignan in the Pyranees on a stinking hot day. Cleared the mountain top by probably not much more than 100ft or so.

  6. Thanks for posting that content Camel, that second video was so interesting. Quite an eye opener in fact.

I found the CASA "waffle" unbelievable, which did precious little to inspire confidence in their rash decisions.

At a meeting like that, I would at least have expected them to be better informed to back the actions they took.

To my mind, they came across as totally incompetent.
