  2. Not sure what happened there, but this was the link. http://archive.pooleflyingboats.com/10 A Flying Boat Finale at Poole from 1953.pdf
  3. Just found this on Google for anyone inthttp://archive.pooleflyingboats.com/10%20A%20Flying%20Boat%20Finale%20at%20Poole%20from%201953.pdferested in the old flying boats. It was interesting to me, hope it is to others.
  4. When I was a kid, my uncle who was pretty wealthy and who owned one of the Islands in Poole Harbour, took us out on his boat and we came right alongside a couple of flying boats moored there. I was too young to know exactly what type they were, but we were allowed on board and had a look around. Sadly they were moored there temporarily before going to be scrapped. I'd guess that would have been around 1952 or 3?
  5. Hi Phil, Thought you might like the giant photo that adorns my lounge room wall. (Sorry mate, should have called it the sitting room) VH-BRF landing at Lord Howe Island back in 1974. Kind Regards, Planey.
  6. Came across this one on Youtube today. Thought i'd post it for our mate Nev 1@facthunter[/uSER] to bring back a few memories. Rgds Planey.
  7. You're being a bit cruel to us seniors. Stop chuckling you bugger!
  8. OMG Peter. I'm so sure I know what it is. But as we all get older
  9. One of the members on here has a strip on his property that he refers to as Heathrow Airport. Not sure that he'd need the terminal though for when some of his mates fly in.
  10. , there should be plenty of places on the east coast where you can get the time you require.
  11. So sorry that i missed it, as my partner and I were in Queenstown and nearby Arrowtown only two weeks ago. Next time, i'll pick the dates we travel.. Grrrr!
  12. And for once the media got the aircraft type correct.
  13. , good to have you on board, Look forward to hearing more from you. At least in RAA you wont get so many trying to twist your arm for a ride in the jump seat. Sadly that's now a thing of the past, it seems.
  14. Just arrived back from a holiday in NZ a couple of hours ago and caught up with this story. All I can say at this stage is "Well Done" and so happy that you are in a position to relate the events from your point of view, all in one piece. That's the main thing
  15. Hope you got Nobags medicare number, so you at least get paid for the consultation Bex:cheezy grin:

  19. No apology needed mate , your aviation posts are more accurate which I enjoy. Just glad I don't have to pay for the damage to the Astor. That would knock a hole in my pension for sure.
  20. Your photo was actually of the MV Seabourn Encore though the Jewel was in port the same day (Still bloody ugly)!
  21. This is the Pacific Jewel Peter, which i've sailed on, though not my favorite ship. Maybe you got the name wrong. Rgds. Planey
  22. Never mind Doug, at least it's making some progress. Just think, when it's finished, you may have to change your forum name.
  23. Reminder for anyone interested. It's on Ch 1 Sydney now. I missed it it last week..
  24. Tell me about it Riley. If you drive a Riley Brooklands as in your avitar, i'm envious (just a bit before my time, but only just) I once owned an Alvis TD21. Wish I owned it now, it might make my pension stretch a bit further with or without the masking tape, as would the Aston Martin DB2-4 which I sold after a week of owning it to make a mammoth 120 quid profit at the time. Forsight would have been a wonderful thing. Rgds Planey Sorry guys! enough of the thread drift.
  25. Thought Nightmare was only a young-un, so he may not be interested in restoring old pram's and bikes, and false teeth etc during the week:cheezy grin:
