  1. I remember it well, weather turned crappy, but lovely company. It was a race to get the tent closed up before it all blew away with us still hanging on. Not the best place to be with all the lightning.
  2. I found that so interesting FT. I love seeing developments like this. This is what progress in design is all about. I have no doubt that in a few years time many of our LSA's will be electric powered. Having worked for 19yrs with the pioneers of the photoelectric industry prior to coming to Oz, I can see that not only the wings, but the majority of the airframe itself becoming one large solar panel would be very achievable to give even greater range. All this stuff gets my old development brain working overtime. If I don't sleep tonight, i'll know who to blame.
  3. Many years ago with only about 4hrs up my sleeve, I mentioned to my instructor that I had taken the family to Australia's Wonderland the previous day, but they didn't get me to go on the Bush Beast rollercoaster. He replied "I have a cure for that". Later out in the training area, he got me to climb to 3500 feet, reduce airspeed, pull on first stage of flap and trim for straight and level flight. The same procedure followed with carby-heat on another couple of times, until we were hanging in the air on full flap at a much reduced speed, and the bugger then threw the flap lever to the floor. The PA28 dropped like brick with no sky in the windscreen and wings out of level. With a wicked grin on his face, he talked me through restoring it to normal flight, then said "now go and try that roller coaster you chicken". Not quite the lesson I was expecting, but I did learn how much lift the flaps provide.
  4. I thought i saw that same picture in "Trade-a-Hubby" The ad said something along the lines of "Good looking gentleman with personality, interested in aviation, moviemaking, and a real man of the land with property:thumb up:. In pretty good nick for the vintage, and very well maintained. New hips, new teeth, new clothes and above all, a flash set of new boots as modeled in photo which should last a lifetime. Low maintenance with a good service life remaining. Looking to meet lady of means with appropriate property. Please send photo and dimensions of the hangar".
  5. You should have ducked next door to Bunning's for a cordless screwdriver dutch, and given it to them on the house, but the bastar*rds would have probably still hit you for $200 bucks for the charger! but at least you might have saved $100 towards a few of your enjoyable aero's.
  6. Sorry red! I try again. SNL.mp4
  7. If you were considering going electric with your car, here’s an option that you might consider: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0KtnWtajUVwcEtabVZlaDhTMW8/view
  8. Thanks for posting those videos Dominic. I miss Biggin Hill, as I used to be a regular there when I lived nearby in Selsdon. Occasionally, a pilot would do a fast low-level run heading west along the runway, cross the road, and drop out of view into the valley. Everyone's heart was in their mouth, waiting for the bang and puff of smoke to appear, but they'd swing around out of sight and to much relief reappear again from the other end of the runway. Got a short ride in a Lancaster at Biggin which was being restored many decades ago. Bloody noisy thing inside, thought it was going to shake itself apart.
  9. Good one Doug! Get your A**se into gear mate, once it's fixed up, you'll have to think up a new avitar. Looks like fun times and hopefully minimal frustrations ahead. Kind Regards Planey
  10. In my early days working and having recently started smoking, a fellow worker thought I was a soft touch, and in a very persuasive manner started bumming smokes off me several times a day. The firm's van driver who came from a gypsy family gave me a horse hair and said pass it through the cigarette with a fine needle an save it for him, which I did. It smelt crook when he lit it up. He was soon heard making unusual noises in the toilet and took the rest of the day off. Sorry! Too much thread drift. Back to topic.
  11. A man and his ever-nagging wife went on vacation in Jerusalem . While they were there, the wife passed away . The undertaker told the husband, "You can have her buried here in the Holy Land for $150 or we can have her shipped back home for $5,000. The husband thought about it and told the undertaker he would have her shipped back home. The undertaker asked him, "why would you spend $5,000 to have her shipped home when you could have a beautiful burial here, and it would only cost $150????" The husband replied, "Long ago, a man died here, was buried here, and three days later, rose from the dead. I just can’t take that chance!"

  12. Amongst other traders in their midst , it seems they also might need an experienced Baker as well, who knows how to use his loaf:wink:
  13. For all you Spitfire lovers, here is a collection of great photo's which I hope you enjoy. Kind regards, Planey. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3598540/The-Photographer-captures-pin-sharp-images-final-55-airworthy-Spitfires-using-just-handheld-camera.html

  14. Welcome JC. Do you run that trike on UP or OP Bundy?
  15. My ex-wife was a hairdresser and she'd normally curl up dye for anyone. Didn't happen when we going through settlement though, not that I would have wanted that anyway. We are still good friends, which is the best way to be.
  16. Of course I meant astrologer, but you're too much of a gentleman to give me a hard time over my mistake. Thank you.
  17. Sorry! That was a typo, I knew it was IFR because I looked it up on Google. Nice looking aircraft and instrument panel for those with the necessary knowledge to use what's available.
  18. Success, is often measured not by the number of times you tried but failed to your own satisfaction, but by the number of times you tried again until it did. Good luck mate, we are sure you will get there, and love to read about your ambitions.
  19. Reminds me of the one time in my life when I bumped into an astronomer and she said "hello, what's your name"? I thought to myself, if your any bloody good at what you do, you would have worked that out already.
  20. Congratulations on your 2nd solo Debbie. You must be happy with the progress you've made, after all it's not a race, more of a milestone. Well done!
  21. Wait for the real estate ad....................."Renovators Dream"
  22. A photo I took in Chippenham. In those days there was "A little less conversation, a bit more action" as the song goes. That's my photo for the heck of it!
  23. I wondered about that too, Phil, having been on the 14th deck of a cruise ship in very heavy seas and wild winds. The wind loading on structures that big would be enormous.
  24. That's too big for my liking. Bet they've got a shoe shop on board as you'd wear them out just walking around the thing. What they need is a number of slides to get passengers off quickly for shore excursions, as that can be a nightmare.
