    This is not my area of expertise, but some of the accidents I have seen on Air Crash Investigations on TV look avoidable like the one where the pilot let his kid fly the plane. When the co-pilot pulled it out of the spiral dive he just keeps hauling back on the stick until it stalls, it seems like some times with out the auto pilot they cannot cope. Actually I think the co-pilot may have stalled it twice wouldn't you think a look at the AH might be the way to go?.

    I feel it has been more luck than good management that one has not ended up in a back yard, which is probably exactly what CASA thinks.

    Climate change? yes of course it will what else would you expect? On the news the story went some thing like this 'we just had the hottest November in 103 years' meaning 103 years ago it was hotter.

    I have met Lee Ungermann, Mick Poole and Zane Tully and considered them to be of average intelligence certainly not as stupid as some of the posts on here.

    Yeah well Kevin Rudd was dealt with in an appropriate manner for doing stuff like that. The real cause of Jabiru's problems is Jabiru themselves. Anybody who thinks CASA reads these forums and then makes decisions based on various posts people have made is nuts.

    Wouldn't that be a tiny very light one? Much less of a risk than a 2 kilo one. It should not be flown where aircraft are on final, doing stuff like that will attract unwanted attention.

    Those cheap ones are unlikely to be the problem, the ones that are GPS guided and have FPV (First Person View) capabilities are the worry. We have model pilots doing the wrong thing as well, one way or another it will be sorted out.

    Maybe someone did see one but I don't know how. I was not having a go at you but who ever reckons they saw it. Most small drones are about a foot square and usually white and are hard to spot any more than about 50 meters away. How could you spot one as it flashed past at about 150 kts? I would have thought it would be close to impossible.

    Yes I understand your concern it is only a matter of time before something goes wrong.

    I was talking to a RC pilot yesterday who was proud to tell me his 1/4 scale glider soars at 1000 ft, yeah someone will screw it up for you but it might just be one of your own mob. Just saying.

    OK Nev every time I go in a Jabiru I have less confidence than most other types, I feel there is a unacceptable degree of risk the flight could end with the occupants hanging upside down in their seat belts. To me a properly maintained and operated Rotax two stroke would be a better proposition. I imagine CASA could be nervous about the fallout if a Jabiru goes down in a built up area and because there are so many of them the degree of risk is increased. There may be worse engines out there but they won't be certified and in the same numbers as Jabirus.
