  1. Gidday Karl & welcome - I hope you have a great relationship with this site Jake J - I fly out of Aldinga
  2. Sure - AircraftSpruce have it as Confor Foam Seat Cushion p/n 01-09300 @ $us74.95 - a bit of info, when it's cold it initially feels hard but as you warm it up it conforms beautifully. Except for the price, you will love it - I don't recommend products I wouldn't or haven't used myself . Jake J
  3. Jeff When you connect it to the Dynon there are some setups that need to be done, pm me if you need any help with that
  4. Phil You're spot on with the mpg - I did a comparison some time ago and the Jabby engine usses the same amount of fuel for a trip as an RV or Glasair (160hp) would use, however the Jabby just takes longer Re seats - are you guys using the Tempur (conformal foam - sort of like the foam in earplugs) for your seat cushions ? I've been using that stuff for 20 years & longest flight was 5 1/4 hrs - no numb bum See you at Lox in April or sooner. Jake J
  5. Come on guys, get over it. Whatever works for you is good. Next some will be saying that us left handers have got it wrong too :-)
  6. Hi Graham Can you advise the contact re avionics guy you used fir transponder installation.:-) Jake J

  7. Jeff That combo will work just fine
  8. Should have added - it has 3 jets
  9. You should hear the one I wired up at Waikerie - sweeeet !!
  10. Met - don't know if this applies in your case but will in others- try using the iPad without it's 12 volt charger, some chargers have/ or do cause real interference and other issues with radios and autopilots. Notice I said some, not all.
  11. Tom, the ignition switch is a common point for some aircraft eg the Acs key type - I wonder if the switch is the problem here ?
  12. Two things can feed a fire in an aircraft, fuel & battery ( electrical issues can cause one too) most aircraft (all ?) have a fuel tap but most rec aircraft don't have a battery switch ( master solenoid) at the best location, ie within 6-8 inches from battery. On the panel is not good enough IMO as any shorting of wires caused by say rubbing on a sharp edge of firewall pass through could cause an electrical fire that can't be stopped except by disconnection of the battery - a battery master cutoff very close to the battery would stop a fire in this situation .
  13. Y Yep !
  14. Andy We both know that & having diodes fitted is the norm for GA aircraft etc too but specifically the question is why Jabiru doesn't USE one on the starter solenoid & also why no battery master solenoid for that matter too ? JakeJ
  15. maybe I'm a heretic -- but is there something wrong with being responsible for our actions ? Jake J
  16. I guess there may be more homebuilt aircraft as a result of the changes and ... although Schedule 5 as we know it will disappear however, as I understand it, the content of Sched 5 can still be as your system of maintenance or you can make up your own. Jake J
  17. Pm me & I'll give you some contact details.
  18. Anyone know why the solenoids usedn on the Jabby don't have a diode fitted to prevent switch contacts from welding closed ?
  19. If bad fuel is the issue, are other engine makes having the same problems too ??
  20. Got my forms today too - reading this begs a question - if the board took immediate action after the Nov 2011 audit then why did we fail the OCT/Nov 2012 audit ??? Surely they can't blame past indiscretions for that too. Now they have an ex CASA person & an SAAA AP going over things. Too much denial going on here methinks.
  21. I know how you feel, mines due on the 7th, caught between a rock & a hard place. So, I won't be able to give a Proxy to anyone too as I was going to make a trip to CB just to attend the meeting & possibly combine it with a visit to a CASA person (re upcoming reg changes) but this is not happening now. My apologies to those who are & have supported RA Aus however, rightly or wrongly, I'll consider rejoining when I'm fairly sure the mess that is RA Aus is sorted. We can't afford the political garbage that is going on now, there's only one place that that happens (shouldn't) & that's in Parliament. We don't want or need secrecy & self interest in our boards management. Another thing - I haven't been in command of a RA Aus registered aircraft for at least 2 years but I thought my membership fees were doing something good in the meantime, it appears some on the board have wasted it. One thing that has always bothered me is the requirement to get endorsed to carry passengers & to do the Human Factors thing - PPL, NVFR, PIFR, Aeros, Formation & 3000 hrs obviously don't count.
  22. I knew that, all's good
  23. The strain (re 9th Feb) is showing Andy - read the regs, or take a breather, before shooting down the messenger. I haven't taken afence, just a pick et
  24. ...and the Altimeter in millibars.
