  1. Whoa! If Jabiru was able to make one of those for real it would be pretty exciting!!
  2. Hi all, I'm on the verge of completing the required hours before I can go for my passenger endorsement and I'm very much looking forward to it! I have been doing some reading in preparation for the test and noticed the RA-Aus Ops Manual Syllabus Section 3.04, Item 1.6 states: I'm having trouble finding what these legal requirements exactly are. Are they in the Ops Manual somewhere? I've looked and not found them as yet. I've also looked through John Brandon's tutorials - no luck there it seems. Am I missing something? Is it staring me in the face? Any help would be great, thanks in advance! Evan
  3. She's a clever one, indeed!
  4. They're looking great, Ian!
  5. Looks like fun, Ronny! I would love to visit Sweden one day. You're friend in the back seat certainly did get the ride of his life!
  6. I'm going to guess that it was something like this: http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-motorsports-hero-camera/ It has a 127° angle of view. Great stuff!
  7. Thanks Jake! Yeah, I saw that you're now following it - Cheers! It's a great idea about the blog announcements. You should let Ian know, I'm sure he'll be keen for it. I'm looking forward to reading about your training experiences.
  8. Ha! I think my Wife would tell me the same, however if I was to ever have a chance at owning a plane I'd have to build her a bedroom-sized walk in wardrobe! I believe they're great value for money, look nice and fly nicely. Have you considered a J160? There's plenty of them going at good prices now!
  9. Thanks Glassair! Much appreciated! Thanks David, I look forward to seeing yours! Gee that would suck! At least you had sizzling meats to make you feel a little better...
  10. Aviation is Awesome! I had an amazing morning flight the other day. Blankets of fog as far as the eye could see (but thankfully no where near the aerodrome!). Check it out with many more pictures and a short video here. Cheers!
  11. Hey Pete, Just for interests' sake, can I ask what reasons are making you look at the 170 presently?
  12. I love flying the J160. Haven't had a chance to fly the J170 yet, but I'd love to give it a go if the opportunity came up!
  13. I have said 2, because it's a foregone conclusion that my Dad will join RA-Aus. At the moment he's in the process of reinstating his PPL after a 30-odd year break. He's using a family friend's Cessna 210 (a very kind offer!) However, even though he's only paying for fuel (one very thirsty plane!) the costs are very high and the CASA red tape is crazy. So he's thinking of trying out a J-170. It would work out cheaper to pay for hire and fuel in the Jabiru than just fuel for the 210!
  14. Could it be because prolonging the hold off may cause problems if there are unpredictable winds present?
  15. Sorry Nev, didn't want to be a smarty-pants! I just wanted to make sure I understood it correctly. I'm quite used to very little float at the best of times in the J160 with it's stubby little wings. Although I haven't yet compared it to anything else, I'm told regularly that when I finally move to the J230 or the J170 to be prepared for a lot of float. Yep! As someone that was quite ground-shy during my training, I certainly will! Don't worry, I rekon you've sewn some powerful seeds regardless, Maj! I wish I was taken for a TIF when I was a teenager!
  16. That's what I would have thought, too...
  17. One day I'll fly a four seater! One day!
  18. After I've done with my mags, I give them to a friend of mine who is a GA student pilot. He hasn't been able to fly for ages because of the crippling GA costs, so I've been working on him to come visit our school and go for a TIF in a Jabiru. The magazines are helping to convince him, however I'm on the verge of my Pax endorsement, so I might be taking him up for a local scenic flight myself soon! That will really light a fire under him!
  19. Hehe... Yep! Been doing that. I'm trying to be as consistent as possible. I'm told that 'no two landings are the same', but I'm attempting to make the touchdowns as similar as I can each time. That sounds awesome, Nev. All I need is a grass strip! I'll give it a try one day when I get to fly from a true grass runway.
  20. Yes!!! That is also very true (for me at least!)
  21. Whenever you actually do that perfect 'greaser' landing, no one is watching!
  22. I noticed that too!

    New Jabiru

There's a TBM 700 that flies from our aerodrome. He has TCAS. He can move very fast. I like that he can see me before I can see him....

    New Jabiru

Even though I don't venture into controlled airspace, I like the small comfort of the faster commercial aircraft being able to 'see' me on their TCAS when I switch the transponder on.
