  1. Grammar Turbs, grammar. "coming together" surely? Dazza! You dozing on the job again?
  2. Big call there FT, Big call!
  3. 26% of those surveyed said they would prefer to reduce spending on public broadcasting rather than cut spending on health, education or pensions. WOW! Certainly no bias in the way that was reported. Really?? Note to Ian: can we please have a "Really?" button?
  4. You don't like, get up and leave!
  5. Sure GG and should we be asked where each and every dollar of our taxes gets spent as well? Really?? Why don't we all just collect our own income tax and then spend it on what we see fit? I'm sure that would be fair and equitable. Really???? Do you tithe a proportion your income? Do you get to say what it gets spent on?
  6. Saw a great bumper sticker the other day: " Are those facts, or is your News Ltd?"
  7. That's easy Frank, just ask someone (anyone) on a forum somewhere....
  8. I agree with some of that SDQDI particularly your 2nd & 3rd paras. I've met Dafydd and he has a formidable intellect and the credentials to back up his opinions. I suspect that his years of battling the "0.5 wits" in CASA and it's predecessors have caused him to not suffer fools gladly, and some here didn't take kindly to that. You're also correct, it is Ian's site, but isn't a site like this devalued when the people who know quite a lot give up and leave, and the people who know it all stay? Happily there are still quite a few here (and in the naughty corner) who don't know everything and who's contributions are much valued and appreciated. But it could be so much better.
  9. Quite a bit more to it than that I suspect.
  10. O.K. I hear that both are doing things that are very useful. We know what happened to Oscar, that was made public here, but I would be very interested to hear the "official" reason why Dafydd no longer contributes here.
  11. Please Bex, when you use facts to support your argument, please present all the relevant facts. Jochen Rindt was killed when his car swerved under braking and ran at high speed into a crash barrier at Monza. His car was fitted with a 5 point harness but Jochen chose not to wear the crotch harness. When he hit the barrier his body submarined under the harness and he suffered serious fatal injuries. Did the seatbelt kill him? Did Colin Chapman's engineering kill him? Did the crash kill him? Did his decision not to use the racing harness correctly kill him? All were factors in his death. To attribute hi death to just one of those factors is oversimplification at its worst. An Italian court later found that the accident was initiated by a failure of the car's right front brake shaft but that Rindt's death was caused by poorly installed crash barriers. 12. Turbopop, you labelled my post #17 as optimistic. I wonder, which did you find optimistic?
  13. Sort of a jabatabbott and a digatdazza.
  14. Canberra's interpretation of a Skywhale: I think FT's looks better.
  15. What in blazes is going on here!? NewZulland appears on the webpage before Australia. This just won't do! Those bleedin' upstart vowel transposers are usurping our position in the world heirarchy. Rise up! Rise up I say!
  16. I've often wondered of Bex was high, I guess this is the proof. Suffering the effects of vapourware Bex??? .
  17. On their conscience? Surely someone who claims that they've had (past tense) a good run is giving an opinion validated by their experience. WTF does their conscience have to do with that? I regret sounding like Bimbo of Brisbane, Pauline, but: Please explain.
  18. Your comment about cylinders being prone to rust struck a resonant chord with me. My Jab engine has been rebuilt; test run then inhibited and closed up for storage until the airframe is ready for it. I have used the inhibiting oil recommended by CAMit and the general opinion is that once inhibited the engine should NOT be turned as the rings would remove the inhibiting oil from the cylinder walls. I recalled an earlier thread about dehydrator plugs for engines not being used. Being a bit of a belts and braces bloke I decided to hunt down some of these plugs for my Jab. Couldn’t find them anywhere! They’re available for Lyconentals but not for engines that use a 12 mm spark plug. I discussed this problem with a colleague who has a small engineering shop and he offered (after a bit of gentle hinting and some blatant bribery) to make some up. The upshot is that he’s made me a set of 4 plus the couple of prototypes and I’ve fitted to my engine. I’ve also plugged the inlet and exhaust breather pipe. The desiccant in the plugs turned from bright blue to pink after a month or so of humid summer so I disassembled the plugs, heated the desiccant until the beads turned blue again and reinstalled the plugs. Overall I’m pretty happy with the result so far. A bore inspection prior to the re-commissioning of the engine will tell the full story but until then I’ll just keep the plugs installed and dry them out as required. As a side bar to this, I had to buy in a reasonable quantity Acrylic tube, aluminium & silica gel for him, (couldn’t buy just the minimum needed for my job) and so he has enough stuff left over to make up several more sets if anyone is interested. It occurs to me that with winter setting in – in the southern parts of Australia anyway- people might be laying up their planes till the weather improves. If anyone is interested in having a set made up drop me a PM
  19. Vapourware? Bex, are you planning to build better Tupperware too?
  20. The daily Telegraph today reported a new policy announced by the Prime Minister Tony Abbott. Mr Abbott plans to dramatically increase sales of Jabiru's announcing today his new " No Jab, No pay " policy. Rod stiff was not available for comment. Details are as yet unclear but it would appear that recreational flyers who don't have or soon get a Jab will be denied government payments. Mak, Dazza and Merv could not be contacted for comment. Oscar scheduled a press conference but he was banned from making any comment or offering an opinion by media Chiefs.
  21. No, that wasn't humour, just a gentle poke about hypocrisy. The Jab is coming along really well thanks.
  22. Hello Pot, have you met Kettle?
