  1. Circuits in the Husky with the crosswind at the maximum demonstrated.
  2. Training must be done by a Part 141/142 school therefore it does limit the registration etc - read the Ops Manual of the school. The training must be done per a syllabus in that CASA-accepted Ops Manual. Part 61 is very specific as to the registration of aircraft it applies to. (just my opinion from having spent much time looking at these rules a while back so relying on my faulty memory too)
  3. Its all I do. Plenty of time for you after you get your RPC.I recall a couple of years ago that guys at YWOL organised a group training day with Red Baron.
  4. See this for how Class D is played at Moorabbin MOORABBIN CLASS D RADIO PHRASEOLOGY AND PROCEDURES - Melbourne Flight Training it should answer your question.
  5. I'd be interested in what your mechanic will say about the prop installation.
  6. Suggest that you have a good look for part numbers on your spinner bits. I've used one of these kits on a homebuilt aeroplane, a bit of work to fit it neatly Spinners from Aircraft Spruce
  7. I can recommend Tony at Horsham Aviation Services-About Us he was my mechanic when he was at Moorabbin.
  8. We often practice aerobatics over registered airfields as well as unregistered ones, I rarely go below 1500 ft these days but some of the guys work much lower. May or may not be a NOTAM. Contests normally have a NOTAM because of the intensity of operations and locals often turn up to watch because they know about it from news reports - not a public display although we do position the "box" to provide separation from where any visitors stop to watch. We occasionally get invited to practice aerobatics at an airfield where someone is organising a BBQ so we take an interest in what info is made public. There have been some where we don't show up after seeing general invites to view aerobatic displays.
  9. There have been videos of spins in a Robin/Alpha - instructor from Australian Aerobatic Academy in NSW and another with instructor from Sunshine Coasr Aero Club. Try searching the forum.
  10. I'd recommend Flying lessons in Bankstown, Sydney | Flying School | AAA RPL Course
  11. Basic principle is that the maximum L/D ratio is a constant so being heavier the glide angle is the same but at a higher airspeed so you get there faster. Sink rate is higher of course hence the need for strong conditions overall.
  12. Been happy with Aero Refuellers but they recently lost BP so I also now have a Skyfuels account. I use BP at my home field, Moorabbin.
  13. I get a carton of Shell oil from Tysons at Moorabbin Airport every now and then - they are Mobil fuel but the Shell agent next door doesn't stock oil (or at least doesn't sell it to people like me). The BP agent gets his Shell oil from Aviall but you need an account there.
  14. I use Mike Jorgensen - actionairimages.com | Facebook Mike is based in Qld however consider calling him as he would be happy to do it if visiting for another reason. The guys at Red Baron Welcome are always doing that sort of stuff - give Joel a call.
  15. Yep, a very long, hard walk to civilisation.
  16. Thanks for that, beautiful part of the world - I lived in the Salt River Ranges, in a valley through which the Salt River ran. Not really tiger country - mountain lion, moose and bear common however.
  17. FAA reviews AOPA medical course - AOPA
  18. We must do some formation stuff next.
  19. Your comment is quite a bit different than that reference which states: "Elevator authority will be reduced with no power so the flare will take longer to execute and speed will bleed off faster with no residual idle thrust from the prop." That and the associated text is consistent with the airplanes that I normally fly, looks normal to me. When teaching people in the Decathlon I alert them to the reduced height needed to commence the flare during a "glide" approach. In a Pitts the best glide speed is higher than normal approach speed so, like that reference, it is important to maintain that speed right down to the flare. I see many people letting the speed decay at 100 ft or so as warned about in that article. I have very little time in an RV, just interested. http://www.jasonbeaver.com/rv7/articles/How%20To%20Land%20An%20RV.pdf has similar statements to the reference above.
  20. Hard to answer that without knowing what you want to do with the aeroplane? Others have mentioned a J-3 - I'd get a Clipped Wing J-3 myself and keep it on the US register. But that's not as useful as a 7ECA. My 8KCAB is even more useful.
  21. I just keep it on my phone.
