    Aircraft travelling at 60kn downwind. ' 80 kn ground speed ) Turning at normal rate into headwind , the ground speedwell drop to 40 kn . Any windshear will drop your wing fast . ( according to my instructor ( always add airspeed when turning slow,). spacesailor

    Is the " minimum stall speed " set too low , so pilots think they can Still manoeuvre, while flying too slow . 60 kn in a straight line will be so near the minimum, they could stall when turning . spacesailor

    I went to grab a photo of my last " Subaru " can of upper-engine cleaner. But either I hid it too well . Or , the grandies have used it . There is a video on Google. ' Subaru upper-engine cleaner sa459 ' To show the ease of decoding the " boxer " motor . spacesailor

    The branded ' decarb ' rattle can , is sprayed into the inlet of a hot engine. My Hummel-Bird only gets half an hour run . Starting on the choke . Being small, it soon gets to it's normal operating temperature. But of course not for long . Three litres of fuel for the monthly run . Makes me wonder if the choke is too much . spacesailor

    Some ' car ' makers have their own branded , ' rattle can ' decode cleaner . Tried it on a few engines , without any problems. How many hours to get a decent carbon deposit. ( on my Hummel-Bird ) . spacesailor

    Has any one tried a piece of silver glare shield. ( most cars use black ) . I had a cut piece behind the Delica mirror, were the sun blinds don't meet . It will take that hot glare off your SE . spacesailor

    It is agreed . W&b in balance. From Max forward on take off . Then on that flare you are at minimum w&b . Not when you need that suddenly tail heavy . It seems safer to be the other way around . spacesailor

    moneybags. How does your w&b work. when your full fuel has correct correct w&b. Then when at minimum, the w&b will have moved Nose heavy with rear tank. Tail heavy with ' over your knees ' tank . (Similar to the HummelBird) . I always wonder if it leads to stalls on the Landing flare . spacesailor

    One bad " solder " joint . ( spot weld ) It will take forever to fix it. I had an Akai vcr with crook solder joints . After the third atempt the warranty would not cover it again . I had to fight tooth & nail to get a replacement, & only after agreeing for the dud to be returned to maker . spacesailor PS. : was given a dead Battery pack .opened it up & two weld tabs were not done .it should have been returned, but too much hassle, so I chopped it up to resize for my use .

    Old post now ! . But . Now the talk in on ' batteries' . I checked my original ' used ' forktruck 72 volt at under a couple of thousand dollars. Today they have a 24 volt battery for $ 1,475 with 2 years warranty. It seems the government have rewarded all their wealthy friends. And the rebate is deleted! except the original 44c . spacesailor

    Marine always said to use the old way . But , after dropping a $ 1,500 sextant. I would rather drop a $500 gps unit . That sextant had a lanyard that parted , when I Had to grab a handhold . spacesailor PS. : sextant was ( out of alignment ) repairable for over $ 500 .

    Almost crashed . Motor pulling 3g revs , pulled back on the controls. And I was looking at the roof not the garage door . What a shock , just the air pressure from the prop making the elevator work. Fixed that smartly , a ' stand ' under the rear fuselage and removel of the joystick . spacesailor

    There once was . 18 Hummel Bird builders on my " builders list " . untill RaA took over AUF . one got to the new 10-19- registered. That's a fair amount of missing ' pilots/ members ' of RAA . spacesailor PS. : low powered aircraft with good performance .
