  1. And I thought those . High Intensity Discharge , lights were brightest. My garden L E D lights , don't last long . But are cheap enough to throw away . Light Emitting Diode headlights don't seem such a good idea , When Halogen 130 watt Is so bright . spacesailor
  2. What do you write in the " Airframe '' Logbook. Would I need to put an " accident " , were , while bolted onto trailer. I pulled back the joystick, ( motor running 3000 rpm ) , which lifted the motor off it's it's rest-bed . Now have rear support to stop the take-off " rotate " . Plus , I have remove the joystick. spacesailor
  3. RAA No longer small ULP powered aircraft. spacesailor
  4. 61 mile per gallon us . And can go 100 mph . spacesailor
  5. I have one, I think . Oh .wer's my enthusiasm. I remember , lost it , in those bad blue years . Now I'll have to find those scraps of paper , I wrote the hours on . LoL spacesailor
  6. Health & weight . Plus I don't think I could ever get my certificate . Now ' I'm older ' but healthier. Weight down by 19 klgms & new hip . So, one klgm to go before I could sit in the plane & have fuel in the tank . Shortly I will have My driving licence taken away , without which I cannot have a RAA certificertificate . ( age limits ). spacesailor
  7. ' Natural gas ' Must be terrible As the Victorian government wants it banned from all new houses. But ' why ' change ' . The cost of conversion will take any " fuel cost " savings away . Almost anybody can afford three ltrs of super petrol a month . And that biannual oil change , with ' motor oil . As opposed to aviation oil. Is " give-away " cheap . Lets pretend. 4 hours flying a week . 24 ltrs @ $ 2.00 , $ 48 a week fuel cost. Could you fly for less . anywhere. spacesailor
  8. Hand-proping shows. Just how tight a motor is , even before putting the plugs in to fire it up . The poh says 30 revolution's to make certain oil pressure is good . Then put the plugs in to go . ' Hopefully ' It all went to plan . & my weight is getting good. 105 down to 86 kgms. spacesailor
  9. It was trialed in the " NorthSea gas " . Pipeline welding . I almost had a job there . But it wasn't taken up . spacesailor
  10. A very economical motor . Two litrs engine oil . And 3 litrs fuel for 30 minutes flying . ( dreaming of " soaring like an eagle " ). No tyre wear at all , disk brakes hanging along side the undercarriage. No wear there also. And less than 15 hours on the " New " motor .( very tight for the first 5/6 hours ). my dream machine . spacesailor
  11. I have that 205 ltrs drum to go . Any takers . spacesailor
  12. To inhibit the Hummel-Bird motor . IS a huge waste of my enjoyment , as my demise will mean it's trip to the ' scrapyard ' . Such a wast with only one granddaughter ,with a love of flying . Alas , no way to pay those flying lessons cost . With two sons & a nursing career , Just started . spacesailor
  13. what Miss my enjoyment ! . I would rather inhibit my lawnmower . I could, live without starting that work maker . LoL spacesailor
  14. Low heat welding was tried in the sixty's . Tested and discarded. ( Eutectic ) . But I did like their super hard overlay, with a different weld to the base , then the hard weld onto. Tested against a " cold " chisel . the HHS hard-weld . split the chisel a quarter way down it shank . Used to rebuild bulldozer teeth . spacesailor
  15. I'll second your objection. As most on here , fly only one seat filled . Insurance against losing your house & assets . spacesailor
  16. I'll have check !. I have changed the oil twice . First was running in oil. Second was hours . take offs nill. no blooody certificate . Just dreams with that motor running . As per monthly run . spacesailor
  17. But those ' lower ' educated wan-a-be's . Will still have big problems getting through their test's. Not just a safe pilot . Pass that " basic " then more & more ,tests keep coming. Is the ads-b .proficiency test on the cards yet . We can't have uneducated usage. Like radio , must pass a stringent test . Even tho you have other radio transmitting licenses. & still not from ground to air . Like my CFI told me " I'm wasting his time " . ' netflix ' cheaper than a couple of hours gasoline. And I don't upset the CFI .LoL spacesailor
  18. Welcome. To my world . Love flying. But can't do that bureaucracy. Education isn't good enough to pass those tests . spacesailor
  19. Yes . I got that one some time ago . Then was asked for more " hands on " information. That was from an administration officer, who only has ' big ' plane dealings. He wanted a " look-see ' at were he/they shouldn't tie a pull rope , W7hen dragging a ' wreak ' to safety. A little out of the loop nowadays, So, wondered if at an airshow , could an invite to SES / fireless, spacesailor
  20. And ' at a particular time ' of year you will pay their demand . Not a cent less or a day late . So spoke god (ATO) . spacesailor
  21. As an aside!. The SES & Fieries have asked for , information plus training to deal with those, Ballistic Emergency Parachutes . I never heard anything being done . spacesailor
  22. That's were the Aussie Tax people . Are wrong . They grab their tax & force the struggling company into bankruptcy. The only entity that forces you to. 'prove your Innocence '. In court . spacesailor
  23. Is there a minimum hight to deploy the chute . spacesailor
  24. The Hummel Was designed to collapse in a segmented way . As one survivor put it, " it seemed to collapse around me " . After an almost Vertical crash into a parking lot . ( https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theledger.com%2Fstory%2Fnews%2F2007%2F04%2F19%2Fman-crashes-plane-in-geico-parking-lot%2F25775409007%2F&psig=AOvVaw3RjsJqMgcYvwuZFrOwbkaG&ust=1712402161941000&source=images&cd=vfe&opi=89978449&ved=0CBIQjRxqFwoTCMCZiL_5qoUDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE ) There seems to be quite a few ' Walkaway ' crashes documented. Even one in Western Australia. Were I asked after the health of that pilot. spacesailor
  25. Well here you go . A brand new E-5000 Messerschmit . A perfect city car With it's 70 klmrs range . on one battery . $ 15,550 ( it didn't say Aus/Us ) . Cheaper than a second hand banger . spacesailor
