  1. I,very often noticed the clouds moving in a circular pattern over the city . Could the rising heat , from the city, be making the rising air revolve, like the " bath water " gurgling down the plug-hole . spacesailor
  2. The frame of ' cabanas ' can withstand lots more wind than the canopy !. Which of course can be jettisoned, by using weak ties onto said frame . The frame Needs substantial lashings & tie-downs , to keep it were it is supposed to Stay . spacesailor
  3. Cheapest ' lightweight ' shelter is undoubtedly, a " wedding cabana " , or a pair of cheaper standard cabanas. Perhaps , you could put three together. Two over the wings plus one for the tail area . Light enough to lift off your air raft when needed. Good anchored tiedowns essential. A 12X6 is less than a $ 1,000. Amozen of course. spacesailor
  4. Not quite !. He provided the information to Re- register , the already registered " 10-1103 " , As a 19- xxxx aircraft . Also VHE XXX ( experimental ) . No one has found a way to keep it's original category 10 designation. IF I put the wing of a " pegasus trike " on the Hummel. It CAN still stay in the 10 category. But ! . being SO blooody ugly , I loath to put my name on that register. spacesailor
  5. There Was talk years ago of building a large hanger . I saw some frames in the rough grass there . spacesailor
  6. O M E Thank you ! . It was close though. I tried to google it , and that was the only one ( I thought) recognisable. Such a small rule , that if you said " I flew a test circuit " , that rule didn't apply. ' Grandfathers rule ' . SO It Is an ' iniquitous ' rule that targets ( seemingly) one aircraft , out of all the models , they are changing rules , to accommodate , G A aircraft . spacesailor
  7. Cheap to. Build , Cheap to fly, Cheap to hangar . Then insurance, but it's not a $ million aircraft so it ' should be cheap .. Then , I'm told " It's Fun to fly " . spacesailor
  8. Perhaps , that could be Why the " Hummel bird " was singled-out to be grounded by that innocuous " wing loading rule " . The specs for most aircraft are nowhere, as good for a " home- build " single seat , all metal monoplane. At 6 lph cruising at 100 mph. It say heaps for the design. spacesailor
  9. A little off topic ,. BUT IS a curly cord , any better than a straight cord ? . And who puts wires together , red to blue and blue to red . spacesailor
  10. I tried to get the Vixxen price from their Web sites. Not much good for price comparisons. spacesailor
  11. My 40 mph against an oncoming vehicle doing 40 mph . Headon smash of two vehicles, both doing the same 40 mph = 80 mph . Better I hope
  12. I had a ' Super Sabre ' given to me , when I worked for a ' scrap metal company ' . Bit of a joke on me, the boss knowing I couldn't do anything with it . Fully fuelled And ARMED . It could have been flown away , that day. Those " canons " I spent day's pulling them apart . spacesailor
  13. Taping alloy is not good , as it binds in the tap thread's. BEST To get' HEX ' BAR ,then you don't have ' galvanic problems. spacesailor Oops read that last post after I hit send . Make them all alloy .
  14. Let me look again ! . To buy & build a Hangar-Home $ 150,000 ., ( someone said ). A brand new Aeroprakt Vixxen , ?. ( I will have to let someone fill that price in ) . But less than $ 250,000 . ( I hope ). How much to get it delivered ? $ 95,350 ! Seems awfully steep . So , only half a $ million , I would still feel like a millionaire. spacesailor PS the wife would have something to say about the house !. LoL
  15. Yes !. I agree about my' dream-machine being too much for recreational flying. Did you see the garage bill ?. ( hangaridge ) , $ 15,000 Insurance only $ 50,000 , delivery cost , $ 95,000 . Management cost ,WEEE !. $ 163,650 , For twelve months , UNBELIEVABLE . spacesailor
  16. Something I have no knowledge about . But VH aircraft fly ( weekends ) at Richmond airbase . Were do they hanger those plane's ? . spacesailor
  17. The ' brain hitting the skull , was what dr's have said , would happen a over 80 mph bikes hitting a wall. Or 40 mph in a heading smash , against a 40 mph vehicle. But the mashed brain greymatter will be contained. All those years ago ! . spacesailor
  18. So go buy a m22 tap set. Drill your correct hole in the thickness required, in a piece of metal, cut the HEX shape, then make your 1.5 tpi . oops I said " per inch " . Anyway get the correct tap to suit your job . And hay presto ! , that next job gets easier. Now I just had to get my neighbour out of strife . He brought a packet of rivets, but alast too short. In my box they're all LONG . WHY . I just knock out the mandrel & saw the rivet to the length required. He had Never seen anything so simple ever.. spacesailor
  19. WILL ,. The new. Owner give All the runner's-up a trip in that " free fuel " .Dream machine . I know I will , as it has more seats than I need . LoL spacesailor
  20. I'm hoping for a CHEAP brand- new SR22 , Many thanks to . ANGEL FLIGHT Not long to wait now . spacesailor
  21. You could have Had them all done by now ! . spacesailor
  22. Surprisingly, newer car's, seem to be prone to multiple problems. My neighbours CX7 and his brother same model car , have had $ thousands spent trying to find " engine warning light " ON problems. Just google the dozens of people trying to fix their faults. ' spark-plugs- coils-O2 sensor's ( two )-fuels-caps- catalytic converter ,' the list of parts that the mechanic's replaced is endless . This problem ' damaged battery terminal ' that gave intermittent fault signals. I hope they ( the neighbour's ) are HAPPY with the " backyard " mechanic two, hour repair job !. LoL PS ' I do have a " engine diagnosis tool '' . spacesailor
  23. Why don't you cut a standard nut to your ' thickness ' requirement . I OFTEN CUT " NEEDED " PARTS WITH MY TRUST'Y HACKSAW ,. ( even sparkplugs, for one way valves ) . spacesailor
  24. '' I must say I detest the State telling me I can only go 110kmh on highways when I'm personally convinced I could happily do 200kmh without any problems. '' BUT You Can do your 200 plus K P H . ON the right road , were the OPEN road is Not limited . surprised ! . A Bentley Continental Sports car , did over 300 K P H . on the Stuart Highway . a 12 day, 3978km journey . ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2sDKUjSOic ). I did 140 in my Holden Jackaroo . spacesailor
  25. Especially if it goes Against, What you want or. What you need . spacesailor
