  1. '' I would hate to think how much all those robots and CNC machines would be worth. '' . Unilever spent $5 .2 Million , to replace 3 shift workers. with a Robot . And it only lasted 3 years , then Scraped . Plus two technicians at $ 500,00 each on 24 hour call-out . And they said they can't afford to pay the wage rise for three shift workers . that only came to a total $ 36, 000 PA , per worker for three years . OR a total for the life of that Automatic rubbish . wait for it !!!!! $ 108,000 spacesailor PS, I didn't count the cost of flying the Big ceo , from the UK. to sign off on the check ,
  2. NO. It's not the weight or how tricky it is ! . In my case 7 years of lifting 35 kls 100s of times a day did my back in. ( collapsed vertebrae ) . Strong as an ox .but thick as a bull . I could & did many times , throw a full size oxygen cylinder onto my shoulder to replace an empty one . ( now thats heavy 85 klgms ) . spacesailor
  3. YES BUT ,. My poor thing is electrical FREE , not a cent for an AA battery . Ignition is magneto, so it has problems with HT wire replacement, No ' carbon ' leads allowed . Were do you buy copper HT leads . spacesailor
  4. No cholesterol in Roo meat !. And it tastes good . But It's more expensive than beef or lamb , for us city folk. spacesailor
  5. I did say it was " jumped started " . So there was your ' power ' to the alternator! . No crap . I've even had motors out of vehicles, on the ground , 'jump started ' to show prospective ( wreaking yard ) customers, " it works " . With that same alternator run to earth through an old headlight , to show It works too . spacesailor
  6. Mine was " a mob of kangaroos jumped acrooss the road into my bullbar " . Only five dead , I'm lucky it wasn't people jumping in front of my car , on the notorious Mitchell hwy . ( between Burke & Dubbo ) . No queries from the insurance over that claim. spacesailor
  7. It can't be Just a battery !, as the running power comes from the alternator. We often ran cars without the battery, only used a jump start to get the motor going & the positive alternator wire through a globe to earth to keep the alternator happy . spacesailor
  8. " sticky rubber " I use ' baby powder ' . Put it on the hand then rub into the rubber-grip . It still remains it's rubber quality but is a little slippier & not sticky. spacesailor
  9. I Have been asked to Loan lead weights to glider members for getting the c g optimally correct . I believe it Is normal practise. A much better idea would be to ' use ' something like " baggage ", or even a small reserve of fuel to get that C G under your control . The idea of using " elevator " trim to offset a heavey tailend seems a waste of fuel, with that extra Induced drag . spacesailor
  10. Or have a half kilo of lead to slde on a pole from as far rearwards as necessary , to as far forward as necessary! . After all we know the aircraft managed before. But it's all a guessedtimste ?. spacesailor
  11. In reality, a lot of sircraft will have the C G changing during the flight , due to fuel use . My H B is nose heavey on takeoff , and as the flight proceeds, the fuel tank over my legs ( between firewall & instrument panel ). Gets lighter moving the C G rearwards , making ' stall's ' on landing more possible . spacesailor
  12. I bought a set of two ' hand crimpers ' , that were expensive marine grade . ( a metre & a half long ). Same as those cheap electrical hand crimpers , only squeezed oposite sides of the ferrule. Lots of room for corrosion. spacesailor
  13. A little more !. I have just seen a '' crimping '' device made from an appropriate size nut , cut into two . the halves put around the crimpee then squeezed in a vice . It gave a fantastic ridged crimped finish , It looked as good as professional product . ( as compered to a two sided crimp ) . spacesailor
  14. Instructing from the ground is when the instructor cannot sit beside the pilot , due to the aircraft only having One seat . Student will have a proven flight record in a dual seat aircraft . spacesailor
  15. Observe the fact '' the shortest length '' has less loss . so you need less thickness , for the same amperage . spacesailor
  16. And here's a modern twist!. 330 px Barlow Acapela 100 N455 CB Originally a Bede BD-5 design. spacesailor
  17. And dip / solder the terminals with GOLD ! . None corrosive and no electrolysis. Aluminium cables at there best. spacesailor
  18. Not many Jets are good at the speed our light aircraft tend to achieve . Our smallest aircraft has moved from a prop to a jet, & now has all but disappeared . '' The Bede BD-5 Micro is a series of small, single-seat home-built aircraft '' . spacesailor
  19. The advantage to ' Hire'rs ' is Hobs adds more hours than flight time, When held for longer than normal time on taxiway . Just a student waiting to '' soar like an eagle '' . spacesailor
  20. I never trusted ' crimp t ' joints , as there is Always an air gap between the copper strands . Solder fills All the air spaces . ( and some crimpers only squeeze opposite sides ). But why , do ( some ) manufacturers put batteries in with the leads going the LONG way around to the starter . You should be able to BUY the correct sized cable for whatever the needs are , then the end fittings to suit . BUT Why do you always insist on cable . a lot of trucks use a solid ' strap ' , especially on the ' preheater ' , were that strap has holes to suit the location of the heater plugs . spacesailor
  21. Sorry I missed the T key . A four pot aircraft motor . IF people were happy with '' what they have now '' WHY Advertise their aircraft in a for sale magazine .Are they just ' trying it on ' to find how much it really is worth . After they spent a ridiculous amount to get it . I spent a normal price for my None flying aircraft . & I'm still Happy with it . Pity It's the only aircraft that has a '' wing load rule '' . still it doesn't apply to V H registration . spacesailor
  22. They'r not selling !. There's half a dozen on FB maket place, even a four poy motor . spacesailor
  23. FACEBOOK . Is the worlds most ' practical ' way of " communication! . Every year ( before FB ) we paid excessive amounts of money to the " telecommunications " and " postal services . Ended with $ 5 calender + $ 3 envelope + $7 postage for our ten closest relatives in Europe . Every phone call to them , was in the tens of dollars per minute . Add to that every bithday / wedding or baby's arrival was an expensive affair . SO F B a big thankyou . We can see & speak to our relo's , so far away , spacesailor Ps ( post Australia is now in the ' red ' with the decline of letter writer's. While our ' telecommunications sold out to China 's Singtele corp .) .
  24. Yes ! , But. If you ' catch 'the " morning glory " , heading west from Weipa, Cape York to Darwin , you could turn off your motor & coast the 745 mile trip . But to answer your question , Ask the 'ballooning ' fraternity. They Will know . As that's their specialty. Three days Perth WA to the east coast ! . Faster than a speeding Jabiru . LoL And , Propane powered . spacesailor
  25. " Queens " . A female cat that's desexed , before having kittens is called a , QUEEN really, google it ! . spacesailor
