  1. Any good?
  2. Awesome day ! Started out with the hum of a light aircraft droning toward my hillbilly strip. Was amazed to see a neat little plane plant it perfectly on the 300 meters... Was an Auster built by taylorcraft . 1944 auster IV.i believe in civilian paint.?( don't really know ,don't really care because she was freaking beautiful. Really beautiful, I want it) After a coffee and chat I dragged out the lady(lightwing ) and followed in loose formation but my max cruise of 80 knts was no match. I then enjoyed a rough flight home. Later in the early afternoon I saddled up the war horse for a quick sortie for my visiting family. Then a late afternoon flight in the lady in perfect conditions with my young nephew enjoying his second flight. I love Mondays! Always living the dream. Couple of pics but sadly none of the auster( was to excited to think about pics when he landed and departed lol)

  6. Hi fellow enthusiasts , thought I'd share a little experience with generosity . Back in 2005 I was stuck between a rock and , well you know how it goes I was in desperate need of guidance requiring help in repairing my first ultralight. I put the call out for help in a mag asking for some one to help me or point me in the right direction , however I could not offer any financial reward , infact I was unemployed at the time spending 9 weeks in a plaster cast.. The repairs were minor however I couldn't afford to take it any where. Any way the ad went out and I didn't here from anyone until 6 weeks later. I received a letter from a gentleman whom was once in a similar situation and enclosed was a cheque for $500. I sent him a reply with my deepest gratitude however vowed to one day meet him and personally thank him .But as time past and life got in the way , couple of house moves later I had all but forgotten that kind hearted gentlemen's name. Today I was editing the credits to my book and clear as day I pictured his name printed on that envelope ... So if anyone knows " Eric Wenner. ACT." Please let me know . I would love to tell him the end result of his kindness
  7. I'll keep trying and let me know which one catches your eye?
  8. Hardshell publishing you forgot ,and play lead roll:gleam: Oops. My bad you covered that too..
  9. The Diary of "JACK FLYER" playing around with a video advertisement.
  10. Yes I have been considering selling the lightwing.. Unfortunately It's looking like my wife and pa both have put the brakes on my decision Because of it safety history( plus they love it's rugged good looks). I also know Doug Evens with 001 was also considering selling his? If and when I do sell it , it will be an honest ad, it has a MTOW of only 400 kgs and weighs EMPTY 230.kgs.- The gr582 I believe have a higher MTOW than the early LW1's. They are IMO one of ( if not) the best all purpose rag,n,tube aircraft ever built. And I love my 2 bangers . Good luck
  11. Lol my bad been hear 14 years and still get em confused

  13. There is no greater feeling than flying so low Adding less throttle and going real slow Watching the trees as they pass on bye Knowing full well that you should be high But in your head you really don't care For all you can think is your alone in the air The disregard you have for us all May one day bite when find the stall You won't be told of the danger that lurks Instead you claim were nothing but jerks So once again you skim the ground Darting through trees a bird you found The sound of cracking, breaking and tearing You now find your self like a trooper swearing You still have control but at 50 feet You realise now the maker you'll meet your prop has gone and there's no where to go And you know damn well what's hiding below You thought you were smart, skilled and cool Darting threw trees to line up the school Your son you think as you try to gain hight But all you can find is that talked about bite Your plane now stalls and the last thing you see Is your beautiful son waiving as you crash threw the screen A father now lost, and papers they write Of a man who flew low in a plane that did bite.
  14. Agree , I too have noticed it a couple times and still not flown Must be one of those static planes?
  15. Lol. I see you Used his pc screen saver pic ?
  16. Meeting with self publishing company in 2 weeks.... Final cover art ( a lot of hours) and I think I'm happy?
  17. Referring to the topic title, I have wondered this myself. 1/2 the aircraft I have bought were from dishonest sellers playing with my life! That's 3 out of 6 aircraft that turned out not so good- all advertised as ready to fly nothing to spend. 1. Told I can fly it home but opted for trailer, turned out alloywings severely cracked and x2 pod supports cracked right threw.( fixed up , flew, then eventually sold as wreck- plane never flew again) 2 . Whilst flying home ,engine failure( was due to old owner fitting incorrect fuel filter) and very nasty pitch issues(re- sold stating all the problems- plane never flew again) 3. After trailering home and a couple flights later, found a wing to be internally damaged requiring extensive work, investigation found plane had been involved in a crash , partially repaired and then sold to unsuspecting pilot ( me) cost extra $11k to rebuild . 2 out of the 3 came with condition reports. ( nothing noted). Also only 1 out of 6 planes I have owned came with log and POH! ( the lightwing). And that's just me! Unfortunately I know of a few stung worse than me ! I would be happy with mandatory sale inspections by nominated , qualified inspectors( not just any lvl 2 ). Like a roadworthy for cars. But for planes... Unless advertised as non-flying. Just my opinion P.s. Every plane I have sold came with log book that I started and kept up to date records. As I have nothing it hide!
  18. Wonder how many of all pilots that crash due to " low level" have actually done there low level coarse? As we all now know. , I completed my LL endo only to be denied ( due to CASA involvement- not allowing LL at the time 2011.) how ever I strongly believe the coarse made me a safer pilot . I understand all the factors involved and know how unforgiving it can be - . I don't need a couple of L's on my certificate anyway because the LL was really a massive beneficial learning aid... My old cfi still believes it should be part of the sylibis
