  1. Must give those brakes a hard time on landing!
  2. On another note, does anyone know if or when applications for GYFTS 2012 open?
  3. Now this looks like a fun use of cloud: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbRTLLLhPCM
  4. I was referring to passive noise cancelling not active, although it didn't seem like it. I have a set of headphones that are the full foam cup design and while they work great for listening to music and blocking out general background noise I don't think I'd like to try something like that in an aircraft for fear of going death... It is surprising how much noise the gel cups on most aviation headsets block out though, foam probably wouldn't be as absorbent.
  5. I was inspired to choose this username after flying right under a lone, perfectly white and small cloud the other day, was the first time I'd actually flown with any cloud around at all.
  6. To add to the list above I got out the W&B form for the Foxbat. Assuming total weight of Pilot and instructor was less than or equal to 200kg, that leaves enough 'space' for the full 89 litres of usable fuel. At 20lph that gives 267 minutes endurance, or 222 minutes including the 45 min fixed reserves. So if you can find a Foxbat around the place you should be good.
  7. Yes I think that I would have been better making the name StayAwayFromTheClouds....
  8. I wonder how they would go competing against engine noise then...
  9. Do they have any form of noise cancelling at all? Might go have a look and possibly pick one up... couldn't go wrong for $24!
  10. Hey, I'm 18 and I probably should have mentioned I can also be known as Jake.... I'll leave where I fly from a mystery for the time being for a few personal reasons, but it is in NSW.
  11. Hey all, Decided to join up here as it seems like a great place. Currently I have 6.3 hours towards my certificate in a Foxbat and should be getting stuck into circuits soon on my way to solo level Decided to start to learn to fly earlier this year after I received a TIF for a present, funnily enough I used to be scared of flying... clearly I am not anymore!! My goal is to get my RAA cert. (Restricted) next year and maybe start on Navs, all I really want to do is fly for fun, would love to be able to take friends flying as well! Someday when I get a proper job I will probably get my PPL, but at this stage it's RAA all the way! Got to love paying half the price for lessons... Anyway thats me, probably should stop procrastinating and get back to my HSC study for the exams next week
