Normally you could be right ,but the information i was given by witnesses at the airfield all state an attempt to return was made and the aircraft stalled at around 200 ft after almost completing a 360% turnback, this is fact not conjecture and as you say no matter what the cause, it is a very very sad event........

Thanks all, Dylan Brady is safely at the ferry waiting to go to melbourne tonight thence on to Adelaide to park the kitfox , then the poor bugger has to fly with his mum to perth to sort out his dad,s affairs. Bugger me you could not write a sadder story for bloody fiction.....within 24 hrs a bloke go,s from ecstatic new plane owner, to a gutted shell. My guts is still like a void DO not want to EVER have to go through that again....RIP Darren Brady......................

  6. Thanks to all for the advice, you are totally right Jerry ! Life is so unfair at times ,i feel so devestated by this event, as he had just arrived down here to pick up his "first plane" to take home to rebuild with his dad,we where at the Kitfox talking about how much fun he was going to have with his dad and how stoked he was ,,and the phone rings and 10minutes later his life is shattered...This young bloke has broad shoulders and is handling this a lot better then me....................

Thanks Mike,the phones are running hot still here and i,m at a loss what to say , i,m going to travel with him back to Devonport tomorrow so he can catch the ferry to Melbourne with kitfox in tow,i think that would be best to just keep on eye on him ,,,,,sounds like a very similar incident to Majors.

To all concerned , this accident is very close to my situation at the moment ,,,,the pilot in question is the father of a friend of mine who has just came over to tassie to pick up the kitfox 1 i found for him and he was taking back to his father to get him to work on it . I,m bloody shattered and this poor bloke is staying at my place tonight....what does one do or say in this situation????? From what i have been told the pilot died instantly as he had engine failure on takeoff and tried the impossible turn back and failed and spun in and evidently was a fully developed spin ,and just happened to land nose first on that fence.....fark i dont know what to do????

So using your logic would be like telling your 17 yr old son or daughter who want to get their drivers licence and only want to drive a car, that they MUST learn to drive a truck at great expense first. Then pay a driving instructor to relearn how to drive a honda jazz???????does this make sense to you??? As both have vastly different operating regimes,The same as flying a loehle single seat 95,10 is vastly different to flying a morgan cheeter etc.......

And for all the plastic fantastic pilots out there that will scream ,,,OH but they are so unsafe etc,well personally when my engine fails ,[because it is not if ,it IS when be it the latest fantastic plastic or a little loehle ]i ,d much prefer a stall speed under 30 knots and a weight that if i go into trees i,m more and likely to be stuck up in the branches and have to climb down , where as plastic fantastic hitting trees at 60 kts will penetrate and smash into trunks etc or explode into flames ,,NO thanks Also if you look at historic records Yes there was a lot of outlandings, in fact you where trained to do them, and the death rate per accidents is way lower then todays parrot brigades. The records show that your chances of surviving and outlanding back then where far better then the same scenario today as the planes are heavier faster and beside jabiru,s most are low wing with a very high chance of a turnover in an outlanding and subsequent entrapment here are some examples, i know which one i,d rather be in ...lol....................
