  1. How long did it take to get your endorsement done? Is there a max weight limit for pilots on this aircraft?
  2. I am thinking of buying a tail dragger. Unfortunately it is seemingly impossible to get a tail dragger endorsement in or around SA. I know Aldinga do them but I am hoping not to pay $375/hour to get it. Can anyone help around SA with advice. I am also hoping it is only around 1 hour to get provided I prove competent.
  3. YGAW has a 3000 ltr Mogas tank. It got drained one weekend and no one owned up. Wont be getting filled again. We have also had incidents lately of Avgas being taken and not recorded. If it keeps up we may loose all of our fuel facility.
  4. YGAW $2.20 ltr
  5. Yes Gnarly. You cross above the restricted area. Only a few minutes and at 4500 you can glide across.
  6. The problem I have is I can't de register to 19 my 24 Jabiru 170c. I have no options. I have my engine currently in pieces after 400 hrs. I had a problem with no compression in number 2 cylinder when cold. The compression became normal once the engine was warm. My LAME tried everything to fix this issue but had no luck. 4 weeks ago I did a cross country from Gawler to Corny Point and return. On the return from Corny Point I lost oil pressure into the yellow. I diverted to a country strip near by and landed. It turned out the oil reserve was full and the engine took 300ml of oil till it was normal on the dip. I flew back to Gawler looking for paddocks all the way. I watched the gauges all the way home but everything read in the green. On landing another pilot commented that my engine smelt very hot. When the engine cooled it had no compression in any cylinders. The engine had cooked. My LAME is now having to rebuild the top end. I have totally lost all confidence in the engine now and no longer enjoy my flying waiting for it to fail. If I could I would fit anything other than a Jabiru engine.
  7. Congratulations. What an awesome looking aircraft.
  8. My rego renewal took almost 4 weeks. Got it back before it expired. I found the staff very eager to help when I rang. If you know it is due get the renewal in early. Don't sit back and wait for RA AUS to send the renewal. The person I dealt with went out of her way to be helpfull.
  9. Happy to be of any help i can Maj
  10. A great trip away with Aeroscene to Rawnsley Park in the Flinders ranges. Around 12 aircraft flew up from YGAW on the Saturday and stayed overnight. Flew back Sunday in cloudy skies. Great weekend away.
  11. Went to 6500 to 7000 feet over the weekend flying to Wilpena Pound. Lots of turbulence over the ranges as well. RAM mount never faultered.
  12. I have a RAM mount for my ipad mini. Never had a problem with it coming off. Works fantastically on my Jab.
  13. Thanks Peter008. Appreciate the help.
  14. No worries Steve. I am sure Mick would rather fly the Bulldog. Busy Saturday and the weather isn't looking great Sunday so no real hurry. Just need her ready for the Rawnsley Park trip in 3 weeks.
  15. Charged the battery and it is holding charge. So now it must be the electrical system. No pressure Mick if you are busy I can wait. Steve I haven't seen the Bulldog fly lately. Great aircraft.
  16. Thanks Mick. Wasn't sure when you got back. I will call later in the week.
  17. Thanks Phil. Nearly came over to Loxton today. Where would I go to get a new battery. Someone said the battery man on Hanson rd might have something.
  18. I was flying a 3 hr cross country today in my Jab170c. Everything was going great until I noticed the voltmeter had dropped below 12 volt and obviously not charging. By the time I got to my home field YGAW I didn't have enough battery left to make radio calls. I figure the battery is probably fine and I have got it at home on charge. I expect the alternator is not charging. I have no experience with aircraft alternators and was hoping for some advice on where to start. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I noticed my oil pressure gauge needle was not steady. All help appreciated.
  19. What settings do you use on the GoPro? I just can't seem to get a good picture without waves going through it.
  20. Thanks DWF. Much appreciated.
  21. My wife has full control of the remote. More than my life is worth to try and take it from her.
  22. Just wondered If anyone knows the strip at Rawnsley Park. Cost of fuel? Tips for approaches and landing?
  23. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for sharing. Watching that sitting in Adelaide on a cold and dreary day.
  24. I have a Jab 170c. Before the knockers start I love my aircraft. The only frustration I have is knowing how much fuel is in the tanks. I dont even look at the electric gauges. I check the wing gauges but even these are no where near right. i put 80 ltrs in yesterday and after take off the guages showed empty on the right and full on the left. I cant use a dip stick in flight so if I am venting fuel i have no way of knowing. i am starting to do some trips now and need to know what is in the wings. do any Jab owners have anything they have done to help.
  25. She looks amazing Gareth. Can't wait for the flying videos.
