  1. Thanks guys sometimes I think I am the only one that gets these issues. It certainly helps us newbies to know we are not alone dealing with issues. I once used to teach Scuba diving and most students once sent out on their own never dived again. I formed a club and took people diving in groups on Sundays to help support them through the initial nervous stage until they formed diving friends and went out on their own. Problem with most of us men is we don't want to share emotions for fear of looking weak.
  2. Can I ask? The longer it took to get your certificate did it make you less nervous after you got your certificate. I find I am extremely nervous at the moment flying solo after getting my certificate. Is this normal?
  3. See you up there one day when I can fly the 170 in.
  4. I'm with you Thirsty. I thought about flares but no. Had a great flight with Ian on Sunday to James Town. That is what started this thread.
  5. Great footage and music. Imagine flying like that. Wow.
  6. I don't care you won't get me in one. LOL.
  7. I was actually a conversion but took 26 hrs. Then again I am probably a slow learner.
  8. I like mine just the way they are. Work great for me. i flew 3 hrs last weekend and didn't even know I was wearing them except for airline pilots calling Adelaide all day. I would urge everyone to support Ian and the shop when ever possible.
  9. On boats we carry a plastic V sheet which is bright orange with a big black V. I will carry one of these. Good suggestions Old Man.
  10. Flew my Jab to James Town on Sunday. Or should I say one of my friends flew my Jab I just enjoyed the flight and played naviguesser. Great trip.

    Oil

Hi Chris. Can you give me your opinion on this. I intend to try to do some testing on my Jab next week end.

    Oil

Can Jabiru owners with 2200 engines tell me how much oil per hour your aircraft uses. I am trying to get an idea of an average. I intend to fill up to half of the full mark then fly for an hour let it all settle then check the use.
  13. Congratulations Bigfella. It is a great time. Next is the flight exam. Don't rush yourself be confident and ready when you go for your exam. I was too focused on doing everything in a set time frame and it is was a mistake. It takes the joy out of it and leads to frustration. It will all happen soon enough. Again congrats and safe flying.
  14. I have put my Navs on hold for a while. I need to go out in my 25nm area and get used to everything on my own. I need to consolidate my flying and get more confidence solo before doing anything else. I will revisit Navs after October when I get back from holidays. Good luck to all of you about to do your exam.
  15. Ok all you knowledgeable people out there I need you wisdom. I am about to embark on Navs and flying out of my security blanket (airfield). What should I carry in the aircraft as far as safety and survival gear?(Already learnt to carry spare oil the hard way). What tips and hints can you give me to fly safely and navigate successfully? All help and hints greatly appreciated.
  16. The young lady was at Gawler on Sunday. She said because of the response on here that she will come down on the 28th October for the come fly day. So everyone is welcome to come to Gawler to meet Sherrie.
  17. Hi Mardy. Sunday is looking great. Why not follow me around for 200nm. A friend will be PIC inmy aircraft for the trip.
  18. All the best Nathan. Best thing I did was go for a 1hr flight with an Instructor before I went up with the CFI. This helpedmynervesbut also got me ready. Now I have to do my Navs which I am looking forward to. My wife is pushing me to get my passenger rating.
  19. If you are talking about the nice young lady flying, advertising an event at Gawler then I can say i have not seen her at the airfield. We do have some very nice ladies flying at Gawler and I don't mean that in a sexist way either. One of our Instructors Sue is fantastic to fly with and a very good Senior instructor.
  20. J170 I was just wondering the same thing. Do I now have to take the cowl off every morning before flying?
  21. Hey Thirsty. I hope to bring the 170 up one day soon on a Sunday to say hello. First Navthis weekend weather permitting.
  22. Great stuff flyerme. Never let anyone put you down for not meeting their expectations. I am glad Thirsty helped you out. They are a great bunch of guys at Murray Bridge. I look forward to buzzing your strip and then landing at MB for a coffee with the guys. Start my first Nav Saturday. Fly safe and I look forward to meeting you one day.
  23. Very funny. You buy them give me one and I will pay you back. MAYBE.
  24. God I miss those airbrakes. The Jab170 just floats and floats. I know before you all crucify me I need to keep my approach speed around 65knots over the fence. Airbrakes are still really nice to have.
  25. Welcome. Great wealth of knowledge and very helpful people on this site.
