  1. If you where departing Gawler would you follow the Clare valley north then follow the barrier highway or would you go straight from Morgan to Broken Hill?
  2. Ok can anyone tell me how I go about getting a ASIC card. No doubt more hurdles to jump through. LOL
  3. Very good and SOOOOO true. LMAO
  4. Thinking of flying my J170 to Broken Hill from Gawler after I finish my Navs around new year. Any tips or advice? Information on flying into Broken Hill airport. How far to town from the airport and how can you get into town for accomodation? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
  5. I agree with ave8rr on this. I think it would be a mammoth task to start from scratch and get a second organization up and running.
  6. I once worked with a guy that always said it was better to rent than buy. He had never been married but visited the local massage parlor once a week. I always thought he was a fool but i have to say that now maybe he isn't the fool. I love my wife and have been with her for 20 yrs (second marriage) but if you rent and you get sick of the same old you just ask for another model. Try doing that with a wife and see how much it costs you. I am really lucky though because my wife sometimes drags me down to the airfield to go flying so I am not complaining.
  7. I have tobuy a 32 gig card for the camera. Not so easy to find. Office works have them but they where out.
  8. Hi Eric, I have my passenger endorsement now and I am doing my second and hopefully 3rd nav tomorrow. First one is with an instructor second one hopefully solo. I am trying to get my navs done by Christmas.
  9. Okay so I now have my GoPro 2. What is the best editing software to use? Add music and edit the footage. Hope to post myfirstvideo after this weekend.
  10. You can start as soon as you like. You have 1 month as a temp member to allow for paperwork. If you can afford it try to fly every week atleast to start and you will be learning really fast.
  11. Hi Camo. I am really glad you enjoyed your flight. Darrell is teaching me Navs. He is really fun to fly with. Look forward to meeting you soon at Gawler. My J170 is in the same hangar as the aircraft you flew. If you see 7314 on the Tarmac come over and say hello. Again really glad it went well.
  12. Hi Linda, I want to mount to the strut as well. Let me know if you work it out. I might also put a mount on the roof between the pilot and passenger.
  13. I have just ordered a GoPro camera for my J170. I have read that the suction cup mount works on a wing and will not come off. Can anyone give me advice on mounting a camera external to the cockpit. I have ordered the GoPro2
  14. I do my preflight then before getting into the aircraft i walk away around 10 feet and walk around the aircraft at that distance just to make sure I haven't missed a cover or something.
  15. Did I mention I get a commission on every new student I get to join. LMAO I have to pay for my new hangar some how.
  16. You are flying with our Chief Flying Instructor. You are in good hands. He is an extremely good pilot and Instructor and cannot do enough to help people. Bring your credit card to pay your membership once you are hooked. LOL
  17. What time are you flying Saturday? Weather looks good. I am at sea all weekend so no flying for me. The thermals will be working later in the morning but nothing too much as the heat hasn't really got going yet. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times to fly powered aircraft. Don't forget to post and tell us all how you get on.
  18. I first flew at Gawler 17 yrs ago in Gliders. I got my certificate, cross country and passenger endorsements and then gave it away after getting a scare. I started learning Light Sports after doing a TIF at RPA Murray Bridge around April this year. I flew at RPA for quite a while but the drive was getting a bit much so I moved my training to Gawler. I actually went to Gawler to buy their J170 to continue learning in. I did my solo at Gawler then my certificate and then passenger endorsement. I have just started my nav's so that my wife and I can go travelling. I am also in the process of building a hangar for my plane at Gawler. Be careful once you get hooked it is very hard to stop. Just ask my wife. LOL. I did my first nav last Saturday. We flew for 1 hr at around 3500 ft in smooth conditions and clear blue skies. Those flights just make you want more. A guy went solo last Saturday while i was on the field and his HUGE grin from ear to ear brings back great memories of me going solo not that long ago. Like i say be careful it is addictive once you do that TIF.
  19. Hi Camo. i have a J170 at Gawler. Good club and a good bunch of guys to talk c..p with after flying. Ignore J170 owner he hasnt got over 4 volunteers washing my plane for me the other weekend. i didnt even have to ask them. LOL. The instructors are good at Gawler and yes you will do your TIF in a J170. you might even get to go up in the clubs new J170d they just purchased. I bought their old J170 from them. Hope to meet you at Gawler soon. regards gibbo.
  20. I love my ipad and ozrunways but it is a little big in the cockpit. i too will wait for the second edition.
  21. The spring on the rudder pedal came off on a landing on that aircraft on Saturday. I hear they are having a few teething issues with that aircraft. People tell me 7314 was a handful when new but she fly's beautifully now for me. LOL
  22. Thanks Mick. No one at the club today would believe me.
  23. There seems to be an argument that if you have a 24 registered aircraft then you cannot re register it as a 19. Can anyone tell me if this is true.
  24. Hi Herm, Paperwork is now signed as of today. Richard will prepaire the site in 3 weeks then I wait for Olympic to build. I have a Tennant that gets his new Foxbat in March. Went up with an Instructor today for a check flight. It was a little bumpy and the light wind was coming from every where at once. Hope to go up tomorrow and possibly take my wife. If Sam doesn't want to fly I will go up as early as possible. Sorry to hear about your engine again.
  25. That works out at $82 per week. I have had a couple of people ask about useing half of my new Hangar and when I say $25 per week they roll their eyes and tell me that is too expensive. If I could have had the use of a Hangar for $100 a month I would not have borrowed all the money to build a Hangar.
