    Hi Linda, Great idea. My wife and I have a lot of sea miles together and now we want to get some air miles behind us. My wife also loves photography. Help with Nav is a good idea. I also thought about getting my wife to do some basic flying lessons just incase she ever needs to land the aircraft. Better just get her in the air first. LOL

    Once switched on the beacon should last a long time and wouldn't switch off unless switched off or flat.

    J170 didn't see you at Gawler today or yesterday. Went up for 2 hrs this morning. Very nice except some idiot forgot to grade the highway again. Full of bloody bumps. lOL

    Having a good time thanks Gareth. Might have to get the engine rebuilt as Jabiru believe mine is one of the ones with the circlip issue. L2 can do it while we are away. Aircraft is a joy to fly. I have put off the x country until we get back in November. Trying to get my passenger endorsement so my wife can fly with me. Just trying to really get to know and get comfortable with the Jab.

    Hi Eric, get rid of that compass and buy a card compass with the aircraft on it. Works a lot better in MHO. Keep up the reports i am learning a lot from them before I do my Navs. Concentrating on getting my hours up for a passenger rating. My wife is getting on my case about taking her up.

    Can anyone put me onto a free flight log available. I was told of one on RAAUS but can't seem to find it. I want to log engine hours oil fuel and landings etc.

    I went to an OzRunways presentation last night at Gawler with Bazz. I was amazed at what i didn't know the program could do. Well worth the time to attend these talks. Fantastic program IMHO. Ian I assume i can mention OzRunways as there is already tons of threads regarding this.

    Off Sydney Heads during a Sydney to Hobart race I encountered Roll Cloud coming off the coast. It looked like a big black wave coming at us. In front of this cloud the wind hit 50+ knots. Then the lightening started. Bad enough on a boat but deadly if you where in the air.

    No offense to anyone but Gliders seem to have very poor radio transmissions and use. I can only speak for my flying area.

    Can you legally fit a single joystick to a Jab170 24 registered instead of the U shaped joystick?

    I went from oil clearly showing on the dipstick to nothing in 1.5 hrs. I have yet to fill up again this weekend and see what happens. L2 says no leaks or problems with the engine when serviced 10 hrs ago.
