  12. Come and enjoy a great weekend of flying and entertainment at the Equinox Skydiving Festival. As mentioned prior, I met up with the chief Pilot and discussed the plans for the local flying groups to attend on the Equinox Weekend 27th 28th Oct . He was very helpful with his recommendations for Aircraft Parking etc and informed me that they have a Unicom frequency 123.75. It was suggested that pilots call in at the 10 mile point and notify them of our position and circuit arrival time, I would be recommended that everyone enter circuit on a wide downwind leg and proceed as usual. It is intended that there will be VHF radio equipped taxi marshals for arriving aircraft. Runways are 06/24: length 908 Metres/ 2978 ft GPS position: 27.07314133, 152.37793168 For all accom options and bookings, check the Ramblers/ Toogoolawah website. Book early,so not to be disappointed and to have the accommodation that best suits you and your crew / family. Everyone is invited for a day trip, overnight in comfortable accomodation or fly in for breakfast on Sunday, approx 8.30. Any enquiries / ideas/ recommendations are welcomed. For all the latest photos and info of what to expect ,go to Ramblers website and check out the Equinox brochure info pack. re Equinox SDR8999_web.pdf Graham

  14. I use GoPro Cineform programme and Handbrake to edit and reduce the file sizes.
  15. Here is my first attempts at aerial photography from our Savvy, taking from the undercarriage leg mount. Have had a lot of success from kitesurfing shots and videos and can't recommend it enough, especially now that GoPro has the Wifi option and you can choose from a huge range of mounts. The quality from a novice is Great.
  16. Thanks Justin, much appreciated, look forward to your reply. Regards Graham.
  17. Have the same problem with my Savanah, can I order at least 6 or whatever you think is worth the trouble at one time, can pay by bank transfer, money order, whatever, let me know, mob 0437004225 . Great work. Ex Drifter pilot.Graham
  18. Val and I have been looking for the same thing, have checked out the very Informative section,Pub I want to fly to one day in the, Trips section and would like to go to, Dingo Roadhouse, Orchid Beach, Wondoan, and Cracrow, but not alone ! Would be interested in joining you in a trip to these spots which are in easy reach of YCAB.
  19. Thanks for all your help, dankia, I notified Reg Brost. Ultralights, great idea will see how new switch progresses and will incorporate your idea next time round re independant switch, and no ! the key did not jam but rotated and was removable as normal, but no connection. Mark - according to the log book the switch would not have exceeded 250 starts to date. Hayden Bell - the aircraft and equipment has shown no sign of corrosion but the auto elect informed me that failure of ignition switches is not that uncommon. Flew today with no problems.
  20. Went to start, when selected to switch power on, no go ! Went to next next start position which connected power to panel and thus pump and started engine but stopped providing no continueing power to panel on return to initial stage of switch position. Shut down and investigated fuses/circuit breakers and connections with multimeter and finally traced problem back to ignition switch. Replaced with new item, all good. Somewhat disappointing with only 140 hours and relieved it happened at home with appropriate tools etc. Graham.
  21. Is there still accom etc at Greenfields, Boreen Point ? And would you have his details to organise a weekend stay there ? Hope to be able to attend, Graham and Val.
  22. Mark, here are some photos taken today at the Bowen Areo Model Club of the model plastic canopies that we spoke about re cowl repair, a cheap and easy solution to streamline potrusions etc. Graham
  23. Patrick, This is the one most of us use, as recommended by the locals, I bought it online from Skyshop.com.au. DUAL UNIVERSAL XGPS150A RECEIVER WITH BLUETOOTH Product Code: XGPS150A Price : AUD$120.00 The XGPS150A is very simple to use. There is a quick set up process that includes pairing your device with the Receiver. Once this is done, the Receiver will automatically connect to the device it was last paired with, and you will be able to use it with hundreds of apps that require location information. Shipping cost australia wide $13 express. Hope this helps you out, comes with 12volt and USB charger etc Regards Graham
  24. Frank, I have set up like DJARO, Minus IPhone, just a stand alone 16GB IPad, we have a mico sim, 12 month prepaid $150.00 which does us fine but as JETJR suggests go for the latest 3G with internal GPS. Mark from Kyle communications informed me that the standard IPad uses the local network to give you a fix and will drop out when transiting out of mobile range so I purchased the external GPS as recommened. With the standard Ipad set up I did notice a difference in accuracy etc, when compared to a specific onboard aircraft GPS. It is good that everyone is giving so much help with this topic.
  25. Frank, go for it, recommend blue tooth GPS receiver for ultimate accuracy, agree with DJPacro that you need dead reckoning nav, chart as primary as have had experiences some years ago when the GPS lost satellite fixes or shut down on a top brand aviation GPS at of course the most inopportune time and never forget it. I have just return to flying and use the usual charts, Garmin 795 and OzRunways latest series as 3rd backup, partner (Val) keeps Ipad on her lap and follows our trip progress. The more safe you can make flying the better and enjoyable to boot. Enjoy! Graham & Val
