Wellcamp international Airport Flyin, organised again by the Clifton Lone Eagle Flying Club proved to be a great event today. Perfect weather combined with a very welcoming active club set the stage for a great adventure flight from Clifton to Wellcamp Airport, just west of Toowoomba. With a very professional approach to this event ensured everyone had a great and safe flight, starting with a comprehensive briefing by Trevor Bange and Kevin. We all set off in our allocated time slots and arrived at Wellcamp Airport. The safety Officers offered a great radio service with incoming traffic and taxiing assistance to our allocated parking spots. We were all escorted to the Airport lounge where a huge lunch was waiting for us all and were then officially welcomed by the Airport Manager and staff. A huge thank you, must go to the Clifton Lone Eagle Flying Club for the massive and ever changing organisation of this event due to recent security upgrades this week throughout Australian Airports. See you again at your next Wellcamp Airport Event. As usual the photos say it all.

Regards Graham and Val. More Event info. Queensland Music Festival partners with Opera Queensland for this festival favourite, Opera at Jimbour. Now one of Queensland’s truly iconic musical performances, Opera at Jimbour attracts audiences in their thousands to the fantastic location of Jimbour Station. Where else can you picnic with a magnificent sandstone mansion in the background, listening to opera! In 2017, Opera at Jimbour will be a semi-staged presentation of Franz Lehár’s bubbly operetta The Merry Widow (Die Lustige Witwe) featuringthe irrepressible Emily Burke in the title role, and Australia’s favourite leading man David Hobson as Count Danilo. They will be joined by Hayley Sugars and Virgilio Marino as secret lovers Camille and Valencienne, and some of Queensland’s leading opera performers, with the Queensland Conservatorium Orchestra and Opera Queensland’s Toowoomba Community Chorus. The Merry Widow is the fabulously wealthy Hannah Glawari, a former commoner who has been left a huge fortune by her aristocratic, recently deceased husband. Now back in her impoverished home country, she finds herself the center of attention for dozens of suitors (but not the one she truly desires, her bad-boy ex, Count Danilo). Eventually Hannah makes Danilo bury his pride and admit he’s still in love with her, and on a magical night in Paris, the two fall into each other’s arms… The Merry Widow is full of romance and wonderful popular melodies including “Vilia”, “You’ll Find Me at Maxim’s”, and the haunting “Merry Widow Waltz”. And this year we want you all to sing! Be there for a pre – show rehearsal, learn the words and music, and join in the “Vilia” chorus. And following the success of Fledermaus in 2015, there’ll be another chance to waltz the afternoon away in the world’s biggest ballroom! Pack your picnic basket, warm up your vocal chords, put on your dancing shoes and enjoy your trip to the picturesque Western Downs. There’s no event quite like Opera at Jimbour. MARKET STALLS Gates open from 10am showcasing a huge array of local and visiting stallholders offering locally produced foods, wines and other beverages, handcrafted items and artisan wares. Please note this is a licensed event, so no BYO alcohol is permitted, but visitors may bring their own picnics. Roving performers will be entertaining the crowd throughout the day, and event-goers are free to take in the sights of the majestic Jimbour Homestead and surrounding gardens before the show. GETTING THERE Western Downs Regional Council are offering FREE bus transportation from Thomas Jack Park, Dalby to the Jimbour Amphitheatre. Bookings are limited and are essential either online here or contact the Dalby Visitor Information Centre on 4679 4461 to secure your return trip. Parking is also available onsite. If you’re interested in flying your plane in for the event, please call Karl on 0407763547 from 10 July. Opera at Jimbour - Queensland Music Festival Opera At Jimbour is presented by Queensland Music Festival, Western Downs Regional Council, Opera Queensland and Russell Pastoral.

Just returned from the Epic Wondai Winery Weekend, the photos say it all but highlight was the welcome and hospitality of the Barambah Aero Club from start to finish. The winery tour and lunch at the Dusty Hill Winery was most memorable with uncle Arthur as a our bus driver. We checked into the Up & Country B&B with our hosts, Pilot - Chris and his wife Donna who made our stay very comfortable indeed. We ventured back out the airfield to meet more of the gyro / flying community and enjoyed sunset drinks before we all headed off to the Wondai RSL. A great night of talking everything flying was enjoyed by all, special mention must be made about about the great meals that were huge and very cheap. Waking up to a crisp clear morning, we returned to the airport for the Barambah Aero Club Breakfast. 4 aircraft from Caboolture flew in this morning to support the club which was much appreciated, bringing visiting aircraft up 10. A huge Club effort was put in by all concerned with a great sumptuous breakfast in their very comfortable club house. We sadly said our goodbyes before departing back home, in perfect weather with a 20 Kt tailwind at 5,500. From all the flyers and people who drove in to this weekend, we thank the organisers from the Barambah Aero Club and Chris and Donna for a job well done. See you again

Looking for a seat around Brisbane
Graham Pukallus replied to MichaelM's topic in Trips/Events/Seats
Hi Michael, happy to help out, have spare seats in a few aircraft from time to time, will PM you with my contact details. Regards Graham -
Check this out, this has proven to be a very successful addition to my plane. Xeccon Spiker 1210 - Mtbr.com It is totally independent of the aircraft power and systems. I recharge the battery pack every 2-3 months after using it weekly but only in strobe mode and within 5-10 nautical miles depending on circuit traffic. I have received a lot of positive feedback from people flying with me of its effectivenesss and has encouraged others to buy the same or similar item. I bought mine after a lot of research and speaking with local top bike shop owners. Important to note that I suggest to buy the widest angle of beam and of course the high lumens rating you can afford. I have a video of light operation but the file is to large to send, so PM me and I will email it to you. See and be Seen.

Straddie Breakfast, another winning event today. 80 breakfasts were served at Dunwich this morning, nearly a record apparently. Winners are Grinners when the raffle was drawn. Over 40 aircraft flew into another great Flyin Breakie.
-
Watts Bridge Breakfast this morning was another great success, with a good roll up in picture perfect conditions. Big thanks to the many people who made us all a hearty Breakfast.

Murgon Breakfast was a big success with 25 planes attending and checked out the big improvements throughout the club facilities. We flew over to Wondai for an organised meet and greet with the local flyers who made us very welcome. The local business owner, of the Colonial Motel drove out to meet us and discussed what Wondai has to offer visitors and assured us they will provide transport to all pilots to and from the airport. The Colonial Motel is the preferred Motel by local flying schools and aero clubs. Wondai will be on the future suggested Flyaway Breakie and picnic destination list.
