  2. Liz & Dave See <[email protected]> Hi Folks…. Attached is the flyer for Annual Fly In. 13/14 July Peter has just let me know that there are a couple of single beds still available for the asking but you MUST bring your own bedding. (Cattle mustering kicks off shortly after we all vacate Rockybar so there will be no time or spare hands to wash sheets etc after you have gone) Would you please take the time to let me know if you plan to be at Rockybar for all or part of the weekend? ie….which meals???? ….SAT LUNCH? …..SAT DINNER?....SUN BREAKFAST? Calculating the food requirements is so much easier when we have ‘heads up’ on the meals you will be there for and it is a long way to the shops if we should run out of anything. Look forward to your replies and much appreciation to those who have already let me know. Cheers Liz See (for and on behalf of) Callide Dawson Flying Group Inc Eidvold Fly In 2013.pdf Eidvold Fly In 2013.pdf Eidvold Fly In 2013.pdf
  3. A great day for the approx 18 aircraft who participated, having the choice of 3 Airfields to pick up our poker cards being Kilcoy, Mc Carron's Airfield, Bradfield's and Gatton Airpark. We overflew Kilcoy and Mc Carron's at 9am due to low fog. We proceeded on to Bradfield's and Gatton Park to pick up our cards and we had a chat to a few participating pilots before heading back to Mc Carrons airfield just East of Somerset Dam, minus the fog, a interesting approach and caught up with 5 other pilots watching everyone's landings. Arrived at Watts Bridge and registered our cards and enjoyed meeting everyone and a barbecue. Many thanks to Richard Faint and his Crew for a great day of flying and get together. Graham & Val
  4. Just a suggestion, but check the nose wheel bearings for correct adjustment/preload. Had similar minor shimmy in my Savannah recently and just had its 100hourly completed which revealed the nose wheel bearings needed a slight adjustment. The shimmy has since disappeared. Graham Puk.
  5. Hi Doug, both Val and I are in the early stages of planning a Island holiday experience in Our Savvy (Savannah) in approx September from Caboolture to Orchid Beach for say 1-2 days and then up the coast possibly stopping over either at Old Station during a Kintiki tour visit or somewhere enroute that you may suggest and then onto Great Keppel for at least 2 days, all weather permitting. We were then possibly returning home coming down the west route via Dingo, then possibly Cracow,Wondoan and finally Murgon for their breakfast weekend before coming home to Caboolture. It has been some 8 years since I have flown passengers into Great Keppel for a holiday/honeymoon and like you both loved it, at that time it was in the resort. I am open to any suggestions, ideas you may have in assisting us planning this trip and of course invite you both to join us, I see you suggest the Eco Lodge which is very close to the airfield and sounds and looks good etc. Regards Graham and Val.
  6. Another great breakfast, 8/6/13 this time with 26 aircraft which had the cooks going flat out, a great credit to Ralph, Deb and their team for bringing everyone together at the grass roots level of anything flying. Everyone appreciates the hard work you all put in with breathing life into Historic Anglefield Airfield.
  7. The strut was installed incorrectly by original builder 4 years ago eg main strut body to the bottom. I was told that you normally get a few recharges before the strut seals have had it if installed correctly. The pressure check was ok and I suppose the worst case scenario will be that I will need to buy a new item for $30.00. Will keep you posted.
  8. No, they removed the small end attachment fitting and placed it into a pressure chamber and re pressurised the init to the original value and checked unit on a mechanical tester after replacing the end fitting. All ready to reinstall into Savannah door. They quoted approx $30 .00 for a new item. If you need assistance pm me and I can either take your unit to them or purchase a new strut for you. Their contact no is 07-54281006. Regards Graham
  9. Ditto. Just got mine regased at out local Caboolture Strut Re-Gas near airfield for $15.00 took 10 mins. Graham
  10. Old Station, was certainly worth the fly up, smooth all the way except the fuel stopover at Childers, conditions were interesting wind wise but that's another story. Arrived Friday arvo at 2pm, the manned tower volunteers were very helpful, it was great to be greeted to a very well organised flyin which continued all weekend. A lot of Grey Nomads and general public attended as did a huge array of special interest groups with displays and stalls, a real carnival atmosphere. Met with Kim Rolph Smith and his family, who put on a great show with the Trojan and Yak-52, both were flat out all day Saturday with joy flights. Great to meet up with so many forum identities, sorry that I missed personally meeting Maj Millard but got some great shots of his plane, 65 aircraft counted, and had the pleasure to see the Cab Sav with owners Julie and Ian. I have put together this group of photos etc that speaks volumes of the weekend. Great night Saturday around the fires in the entertainment area after watching the non stop events, eg- air operations and ground activities all day. The organisers did themselves proud with great local entertainment and competitions which continued throughout the night in various shapes and form with the locals doing what they do best. Great, First Class , Country Hospitality and Professionally organised. See you next year Graham Puk
  11. Another great event at the Kilcoy Breakfast and Working Bee. The breakfast was a highlight. Many thanks to so many workers and to Mal Shipton and Team for the working bee re upgrade of the airfield with new airstrip/taxi way markers etc, well done it looks great. Yes Mark the trip home to YCAB was interesting. Here some photos of the day and the 25 + aircraft that attended. Graham & Val
  12. Once over the range west of Caboolture the weather opend up with blue skies and magnificent scenery all the way to Gatton Air Park. A large contingent of aircraft counting some 39 by the time I left at 10.30. Great breakfast and very well organised and attended by all. Some photos of the event.
  13. Visited Murgon this morning for breakfast, great hospitality and food, see you again. Here a few photos.
  14. Top shelf, great spread of very well done shots, going to Murgon Breakie Sat and Gatton Park Pancake Breakie on Sunday weather permitting, hope to catch up soon. Graham & Val.
  15. Childers Well Done, ditto on the trip home Mark, not sure of being the aircraft leaving first as the approaching cloud front/SE Change coming through after Gympie, good communications and great crew. Here are some photos of the Childers Flyinn.
  16. Can I order 6 bushes, PM me how to pay you and my address etc. Regards Graham & Val
  17. Although being aware of the Storm Chaser movement locally, I have just learned of the extent of available info from the official Australian Weathercam Network. Having high definition webcams set up around Australia to monitor up to date local weather conditions, with updated images every few minutes. There are also links to weather radar, forecasts etc etc in easy to understand language in (real time). http://webcams.bsch.au.com/index.html Check this out for yourself as I feel it is a invaluable tool to make Safer, Better informed decisions enroute while flying both locally and on cross country excursions.
  18. Sad times, I wonder how Wayne's drifter dream and legacy can continue so both his memory and dedication to a true ultralight live on ?
  19. Thanks, have commented on Facebook as suggested. Would like to help out his family with a donation, hope to get to the memorial service . A very sad time.
  20. What a absolute shock and distress to hear this news, history goes back to 70s when meeting Wayne at Lennox Head, Hang Gliding and watching him land and takeoff from a sign post on the ridge. Wayne helped me through my introduction to Hang Gliding for the following 10 years, then my initial and advanced training at Austflight on the Drifter, every afternoon at sunset after work we would go up and you could see his passion for flying, that was before I took on the flying School. Recently as of last year Val and I went down to place our order for a 912 Drifter but due to availability, Wayne showed me and recommended a Savannah in the next Hangar. the owner wanted to make room for his next project. Wayne delivered the Savannah to Caboolture where I fly out of now. I know that all the old school hang glider and Ultralight pilots will be devastated by this sad loss. A true gentleman and quiet achiever of the highest order. I say thank you Wayne for soooo many memories and being there for me and many others as our mentor and friend through our learning of flight in all its aspects.
  21. I too had problems initially, but found start proceedures on GA injected engines especialy the Bonanza, was to prime for 7 seconds with pump, switch off pump - go for start and slowly advance throttle, worked a treat for me. Hot or Cold.
  22. Been following your latest thread re new homebuilt that your designing. Great work. I for one would love to re live the old days and camp at fraser/straddie on the beach and hang out with a few coldies.
