  1. No 3. If the investigation reveals a negative G break to the leading edge/s that would indicate a tumble. Also, damage to the base bar from impact with the front strut of the trike would support this scenario.
  2. Next time I'm at the hangar with the cowls off will take photos outlining what I've done. The balance scat hose between the cooling ducts sounds like a good idea too. The main thing I did was reduce the pressurising of the lower cowl be moving the oil cooler to the rear of the engine, ducting air to it from another vaca duct on the right hand side of cowl. I can control this air to the oil cooler from the cockpit - monitoring oil temperature.
  3. I made quite a few changes to my cowls and oil cooler position which have resulted in cool CHTs. CHT on number 4 (generally the hottest) gets to about 130C on taxi then drops to about 105 or less in the air. I climb out at 80-85 knots @ 700fpm or better. Laurie
  4. Trike wings are very strong - I can only think of a couple of reasons why they might fail: 1. base bar pin/bolt not secured properly 2. damaged leading edge tube (spar) or cross bar 3. exceeding pitch limits resulting in a tumble - no indication of tumble by witness 4. failure of side wires (unlikely as these are duplicated in all certified trike wings I'm aware of
  5. You're digging way too deep.
  6. My low flying takes place each take off and landing - probably a bit cryptic but that's how my head works....
  7. Or take off and landing- low flight x 2.
  8. Yep, I do it at least twice every flight...... ?
  9. I used Poly products when rebuilding the Corby Starlet (21-3381). I used the Stewart water born system for painting my Jabiru.
  10. Exactly. From my observations there is no washout built into my Jabiru's wings. The washout is created by the rigging of the ailerons and increases with application of flaps. That said, it's stall characteristics are very good, a tribute to the design.
  11. Your idea sounds interesting Bruce. My Jabiru is the long winged SP (U/L). The flaps on it are really long and ailerons pretty short. I have the port flap slightly reflexed to compensate for the roll tendency caused by my weight in the pilot's seat - 90% of my flying is solo. I don't think there would be much to gain from raising or lowering the ailerons for me.
  12. Sorry folks but I'm feeling a little angry about this 'accident'.
  13. Or one paramotor and one appropriate paramotor wing for the farm!
  14. Pretty standard practice for those who play the 'museum' card.
  15. How did you go with squeezing the crimps, keeping tension on the bungee etc?
  16. I've replace one on my Edge X 582. From Airborne, advised that zip ties are ok. This is what I did then covered the join in heat shrink.
  17. At this time of the year in cool humid conditions I often experience carb ice with my Jabiru. It doesn't behave the same as my (ex) C-150 which had a Continental 0-200. Clearing ice with the 0-200 resulted in very rough running followed by an rpm increase. The Jabiru just gently increases rpm by 100 to 200 but remains running smooth.
  18. Pretty happy with my Jabbie aircraft and engine. In response to the title of the post, I have been using a mixture control on my Bing carby for almost 200 hours now. Very happy with the way it works.
  19. Many learning hang glider and Paraglider pilots manage to hit the only tree in a paddock. You tend to go where you look. That applies to motorbike riders too.
  20. I've got a mate with a Wiz wing who might be interested. Is the Streak still available?
  21. Concorde was an airliner and pretty fast.
  22. I’m confident with this device. Oil looks good. The original catch can gets the muck. According to Rod S at Jabiru the top dipstick device is more a muffler to smooth out the crank case pulses that pushes the oil out.
  23. I’ve been using the Jabiru top of dipstick condenser for a while now. It works. It no longer dumps oil. Recommend.
  24. The humble Jabiru gets another thumbs up from me in this topic.
