  1. There's a problem with the line of thinking that a businessman would make a good political leader. I refer you to the USA, 2016-2020...
  2. To all the Dads, Step-Dads, Granddads, and (in Spacey's case at least) Great-Granddads out there! Have a fantastic day and hope your family is nice to you.
  3. Thanks Bob! The push button for low fuel test is on the harness so left that off for now - there's a hole for it in the middle of the main 4 gauges. Haven't got a battery light but there is a gauge for it, middle top in the right cluster.
  4. Yours too Gareth! Three radios?
  5. *YAWN* I need sleep... Tired but happy.
  6. Starter motor lugs it is. I like your setup Mark but I think the Sav has a bit more panel space than the 701. I don't want to lose any legroom so won't put anything below it. Today I pulled the positive cable through to the battery, measured length and cut it. Works out to 2.28m which I'm fairly happy with, I was afraid it would go over 3m. I also drilled out the rivets at the front of the pilot's seat, will need to lift and get below that to fix cable holders etc, and also to join up the isolator switch. On the negative side, (not "bad", just negative!) - I put in another gland through the firewall and ran a short section of 14mm2 from the starter motor lug through the firewall and to the back of one of the bolts holding the regulator on. Will mount the negative bus bar close to that, and also run 14mm2 from that bolt alongside the positive cable until under the pilot seat, where it'll terminate at the isolator switch. Then from other switch terminal to the negative terminal of the battery. I believe that should give a nice solid earth return - happy to take on board any suggestions though! As far as running the cables along the cabin floor under the rudder cable - have others run anything to protect them (eg a cover of some sort) or just left them exposed? Thinking a "top hat" section length of aluminium riveted to the floor may not be a bad idea.
  7. If you have dope, and land in Nimbin, humans will chew your ear until you share.
  8. Precautionary landing due to the engine sounding a little rough? An intermittent problem that thankfully cleared up on a ground run (after you'd emptied your bladder).
  9. Do they have any Czech mates?
  10. Here's one for the anti-vaxxers. https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/health-problems/countless-antivaxxers-and-covid19-hoax-believers-dying-from-the-virus/news-story/081c41083f36cf121a495bafa243e7b5
  11. That was kind of my point. Amusing all the same though.
  12. It worked! 🤣
  13. If you want Dan to stop locking you down then go get vaccinated. Simple as that. If you believe that refusing to be vaccinated is going to open up your state, then you're the one in fairyland. Go ahead, give me a "caution". (Not sure what you think that achieves.)
  14. FAR 103 is it? I second everything the others have said Jay - good luck and don't give up on your dream!
  15. Everyone knows that this is not going away. No, total vaccination will not fix it, but unless we get the vaccination number up to a very high percentage then we can't open up. Yes, there will be variations just like there's variations to influenza every year, and every year the vaccine is modified to try to stop the most recent Northern Hemisphere strain. I would anticipate that the Covid vaccines will be the same. You get one every year that will give you a better chance of surviving the most recent or most dangerous variant. So there's 3 things causing this severe collateral damage to business and individuals that you talk of. The first 2 are the fault of the government - their handling of the vaccination rollout including not initially ordering Pfizer, the mixed messaging around AZ, and the rollout in general being poorly planned and executed; Then the reliance on hotel quarantine when Blind Freddy could see it was actually causing cases and they needed open-air purpose built quarantine centres. The third thing that will cause this damage is people who won't get vaccinated, either because they're down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theory or they're just "my freedom over all" individualists who don't see protecting others from the virus as their responsibility.
  16. I will when I can get some - Jaycar don't stock them. Might ask around the battery places / auto electricians.
  17. I decided to replace the long 10mm2 ICP-supplied battery lead with a 14mm2 - from reading up on this it seems that Rotaxes like to turn over quickly and a bigger cross-section cable assists this. Got some ring ends, heatshrink and other bits & bobs from Jaycar, then went home and ensured my big crimper would do the job. It did - I tested one by putting the ring in the vice and hauling on the cable, I couldn't shift it. Peter advised that cable glands would be better than the grommet recommended in the ICP instructions. Got a few from Jaycar and installed one in line with the Relay terminal to get a straight run with the positive battery cable, as shown in pic. I've put a 200A isolator switch on the seat front, will actually put the negative wire on that (Peter did give me the reason that this was better than positive, but I can't remember it!) - doesn't make any difference as far as breaking the circuit is concerned, as long as the negative battery terminal goes straight to the breaker.
  18. Mine arrived today - had a quick scan, but nothing has jumped out at me as being overly impressive. Will have to dive into the articles a bit more.
  19. If you feel sorry for nurses, then lessen their workload by getting vaccinated. This is kind of a no-brainer. It's like turning your lights out in the Blitz or driving safely - you're doing it not only to save your own life but also the lives of others.
  20. So you're a qualified doctor then? I could read a medical journal and be no better informed than before, because I haven't got the specialist training and the hands-on experience of treating people. So why don't you just talk to a doctor?
  21. Big thank you to @nomadpete who dropped in yesterday and helped out with the electrics. He sorted out the wiring for the ignition switch, put those funny long thin spade connectors on the magneto wires and gave some good advice about routing through firewall and battery wire size. We were discussing the earth bolting to the engine. Looked around the motor but couldn't see any perfect spots - eg a bolt close to the back of the motor. Except for the lugs on the starter motor case of course. Where have others mounted the earth wire to the block?
  22. Wow Mark, I'm exhausted just reading that!
  23. Ah Grosvenor House - I've seen her in the flesh, Shuttleworth Old Warden 2014.
  24. The percentage of the population who could read and write is vanishingly small (in England at least) as you go back through the centuries. So that lovely precision writing pre 1600 is probably because the only people who could write, and did regularly, were the priesthood (who were basically professional writers and copiers), some of the aristocracy and perhaps the occasional educated merchant. Plus, writing materials (paper and ink) were relatively expensive so you made damn sure you did a good job. No running to Big W for a ream of paper and a box of ball point pens.
  25. Book III of Odes, Horace circa 20 BC So for over 2000 years people have been complaining about declining standards of youth...
