Yes they do, I can’t speak for Australian ATC as I haven’t flown commercially here this century but in Asia it was very common to be a given a 3-5nm right offset by ATC, it was never pleasant in RVSM airspace being 1,000 below opposite direction traffic especially when it was a wide body, the 777 was the worst in coping dirty air when the conditions were unfavorable, ie wind direction.

I hear you, I’m onto my 10th logbook, that’s in nearly 41 years of flying, recently resigned & opted for early retirement, once I get out of hotel quarantine I’m looking forward to more pen entries logging my Foxbat time. PS when I was in the RAAF some of our guys did the combined logbook option, leather bound with gold embossed name & wings on the cover & it looked stunning, I did a google search for you & saw that there are 7 bookbinders located in Brisbane.
  3. Easy, you buy 3 standard logbooks & take them to a bookbinder & they’ll do the magic, leather cover with your name & wings etc, finished product looks great.
  4. GPS altitude measures your absolute altitude off several satellites not the same as a rad alt that measures height above the ground below the a/c ie used during low visual approaches eg CAT2/CAT3.
  5. Remember safety is paramount, declare a PAN & climb as required, you & the authorities have to remain FLEXIBLE.
  6. According to RAAUS news letter Airservices required TWO independent fitted vhf radios, hand held not acceptable.

So as my Foxbat is fitted with a mode S transponder & a dual frequency monitoring vhf (I have a valid PPL) I would have to maintain 1500’ till class C airspace, then legally enter & climb as requested to any altitude to below transition altitude but make then make sure I get a clearance prior to exiting class C to be at 1500’ to re enter class E, what well thought out concept, mmmmmm.
  9. I’m guessing that rather than physically having two separate VHF radio’s having for an example the Macair VHF radio that can monitor two frequencies at the same time would fit the requirements, and yes if it fails you can sqwak 7600.
  10. Well I’ve just looked through the AIP & there is NO requirement to have dual VHF radios to legally operate in ANY airspace in Australia, looks like Airservices is just making things up as they go along.

So I’ve just read the latest from RAAUS, not only do Airsevices want mode S transponders fitted in Class E airspace they apparently will require dual VHF radio’s, wow the radio requirement not even currently required to operate in Class C airspace, what next? 2 x autopilots or perhaps GPWS. Unbelievable 😡

It’s a Clayton’s fail, “the fail you’re having when you’re not having a fail” as you don’t have the privileges of your licence/certificate removed, you could legally jump into your a/c & fly after being disappointed in a BFR until it expires, as mentioned it’s legal but wouldn’t pass the “pub test.”
  14. I resigned & took early retirement a few days ago, so unless the weather is bad I’ll be there camping ⛺️ under the wing of the Foxbat 🤞🤞
  15. Mate I’m so sorry that you were treated so poorly, there’s always a few bad apples, people with egos, an agenda or a shortfall of character that slip through the cracks, it’s never too late to start again, wish you well. ✊
  16. What an absolute WANKER, I’d definitely be taking my money elsewhere, that’s totally unacceptable behavior for an instructor & I’d recommend you put in a formal complaint.
  17. As a soon to be retiree for once in over 40 years I can say with complete confidence that I’ll be there too, no need to request leave. ⛺️ Under the wing, can’t wait.
  18. Having heard many stories especially night carrier deck landings from our US navy exchange pilots back in my RAAF days I can say that last comment is 💯% correct, the most difficult & frightening event an aviator could experience & never enjoy, respect✊.
  19. Initially I always start on the fullest tank when flying my Foxbat, then I use my wrist watch i.e. the minute hand, from 01-30 I feed from the right tank & 31-60 the left tank, works well for me but you obviously need some fuel awareness/discipline in the first place.
  20. The reason is the same as RAAUS a/c you don’t need it. Power + attitude = performance, plus we shouldn’t be flying in less the VFR conditions anyway. Attached a photo of the flight instruments I choose when I ordered my Foxbat.
  21. She flys well empty, no ballast required, but yes a later flare required that’s about it, stunning a/c, but I rather be flying my Foxbat.

Well I’m lucky to still have a flying job but I’ve just completed a flight I’ll never forget, it started in Hamburg at the Airbus factory to test fly & deliver an A321NEO, with a crew of 3, that’s 2 pilots & a riding engineer we set off to Dubai for an overnight stop, next day to Hong Kong, flight itself was very enjoyable. After a compulsory 24 hours quarantine waiting for COVID test results we found out that the engineer tested positive, so instead of heading home & then Toulouse on Friday for the next a/c we find ourselves locked up in a government quarantine camp for 14 days, the hardest part is the food is 🤢🤮.
  23. Correct, hence the importance of confirming the ZFW C of G is within limits.
  24. On the plastic card in brackets it says “Must be fixed to the aircraft” but as mentioned above in various posts it’s legally not required, authority RAAUS.
