  1. You can’t make this stuff up, it’s comical, just think “Yes Minister”
  2. It’s all going to be a personal choice, I’ve held a military equivalent to the class one ( A1G1Z1) & civilian class one for over 35 years, my current medical has been with a foreign authority for the last 20 years, I’m going to give the class two & CASA a very wide birth & will stick to the current self diagnose medical we have with RAAus. As I said it’s all going to come down to what suits the individual pilot, I suppose I’ll just have to remain OCTA.
  3. Congratulations & well done sir on an outstanding effort, my hat goes off to you.
  4. Capillatus, you sir are a LEGEND, -10 degrees & only a windscreen:yikes: I’m impressed.
  5. As they say, “you get what you pay for”.
  6. Let me guess the GAF contact went to the lowest bidder, you get what you pay for.
  7. Golden rule, never buy anything off the plan, wether it’s a house/apartment or aircraft, the prices initially quoted are ALWAYS unrealistic.
  8. Outstanding Peter, always enjoy reading your trip reports, thanks again for putting them online.
  9. Jeez Louise, unfortunately political correctness & treating people like idiots is out of control in Australia. See attached a few pictures from Oshkosh a few months ago, the F15 as well as every other military a/c has no fences, the F22 has a rope, ok plus an armed marine with a rifle. The crew of the B52 on the wing without dayglo vests or a safety harnesses, and they all survived without falling off, imagine that.
  10. Well just got back today after a 6 day trip where we logged 12.5 flying hours. Day 1 Caboolture-Chinchilla-Roma, day 2 & 3 Roma-Ingelara (stayed two nights at the Wildernesses Resort in the Cararvon Gorge which was outstanding & I would highly recommend it) day 4 Ingelara-Emerald-Old Station, lovely stay & hospitality offered by Ron & Helen Creed, again highly recommended dropping in here, day 5 Old Station-Bundy & stayed the night due to the strong winds in Brisbane, day 6 Bundy-Gympie-Caboolture. Looking forward to spreading our wings & traveling further afield on future trips.
  11. Just a quick post maintenance test flight today, Qld beautiful one day, perfect the next.
  12. No, they have an equivalent ID, only valid when flying an a/c registered in that duristriction to any destination in the world. As an example I can fly a HKG registered a/c anywhere in the world, but I can't operate a VH registered a/c unless I have an Australian license, medical & ASIC.
  13. Like I've mentioned before, I can't believe that with 10,000 members we don't have more political powers like EAA in the US. We should be telling these elected officials what WE require not the other way around.
  14. So as I was born overseas I need my original citizenship certificate plus my passport, even though to get a passport I needed to show them the certificate 40 years ago, as well as to join the RAAF, mmmm all very "Yes Minister" more red tape.
  15. It's really a personal choice, as for me my day job is following a green line on autopilot so I opted for the basic steam driven dials.
  16. Best option when dealing with the AIP is to download it in GoodReader then do a word search for what you are researching.
  17. This was my first Oshkosh, I have to say that it exceeded all my expectations, extremely well managed & outstanding flying displays, everyone was just so friendly, I can honestly understand how folks come here every year. My personal favorites were the Blue Angels, the Apollo astronauts, the light sport a/c & the home builds.
  18. There's a long list, this mob is at the top of my no fly list.
  19. Just looked at our (RAAus) web site, we have 9,657 members, all hard working tax payers & voters, I can't belie we don't have more political clout, like the NRA or EAA in the US.
  20. Political correctness & red tape seems to sum up Australia these days.
  21. Been planning this trip for a few years now, can't believe it's finally happening, going to be a boys trip with 3 mates, we have booked 2 RV's & camping on site. Can't believe my luck, I'm a bit of a Blue Angels tragic, wanting to see them for years & I have every Apollo book written, so when I found out that the Blues are there as well as all the surviving Apollo astronauts I couldn't believe my luck.
  22. Folks one word of advice, the definition of pprune=toxic. Avoid that site like the plague. Just my humble opinion.
  23. What an inspirational story, love it, well done sir.
