  1. Nev, I am not arguing with that. But! Speculating on the events: Ok, Solo XC. No problems. Departed ...... 09:00? He gets caught by the weather. No problems. "Diverts" to Khancoban. Ok, landing not the best. Time? 13:00? Now, in THIS time line that if FOUR HOURS later - very generous for times. He walks to the house and calls. What that would be about 14:00 at the latest?? 1 hour walk to the house? He calls. "Oops, got stuck....... " etc etc etc. WHY WAS THE RESCUE HELICOPTER BROUGHT INTO THE EQUATION? He had rung and was at a known location and the situation was told. There is a HUGE HOLE in the explanation of what happened and what happened there after and WHY.
  2. Ok, ELB out. Mobile phone? The time line on the news seemed a bit ....... long. Ok, the landing, etc. No worries. (Nothing against the poster but:) The region's rescue helicopter was called in to help search for the boy, who was found just before 7:00pm What exactly does that statement mean? He was on a flight. XC? "We had a report of an aircraft overdue between Dalgety and Jindabyne just after 5:00pm," he said. His departure time would not have been that close to "EOD" (sunset/EndOfDaylight) So he got lost, landed etc. And it took until 19:00 (or "just before") before he was FOUND? He would have got to the house and called WAY BEFORE 17:00, so why was the helicopter called? Ok, maybe just the wording, but...... Is there a problem with THE SEQUENCE OF things happened after the landing?
  3. Just wondering: Would that landing/situation warranted use of the ELB? Why would he have needed to walk to the house and used a mobile phone? Hey, just asking.
  4. For my two cents worth, The whole process was flawed. Sure, he tried to start it many times and it didn't start. Get out, give it a squirt then get back in the seat and try again. Leaving it to a NON PILOT is dangerous. Some have speculated that maybe the throttle was used instead of the break..... who knows. But it wasn't the best decision made. At least he got to LEARN from it and share it, rather than being killed. Just my thoughts.
  5. Maybe not 100% applicable, but some of the points fit in this thread: Number 5 is interesting reading. Number 10 Life is sexually transmitted. Number 9 Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die. Number 8 Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich . Number 7 Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day, teach a person to use the internet and they won ' t bother you for weeks. Number 6 Some people are like a Slinky. Not really good for anything, but you still can ' t help but smile when you shove them down the stairs. Number 5 Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing. Number 4 All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism. Number 3 Why does a slight tax increase cost you $200.00 and a substantial tax cut saves you $30.00? Number 2 In the 60 ' s, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal. And The Number 1 Thought For 2009: We know exactly where one cow with Mad-cow-disease is located among millions and millions of cows in America but we haven ' t got a clue where millions of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of Immigration. Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers. What you do today, might Burn Your Ass Tomorrow"
  6. Yeah, it is an offspring of TIGER AIRWAYS!
  7. There is also the story of some English person who made a plane/glider and got his butler/man servant to fly in it down a hill.
  8. Hey folks, Just came into the thread 9 pages in. It started with what was GOING to happen to what WILL NOW happen. Ok: Tangent: Ticketek are advertising "Topgear" on Oz soon. What's going to happen there? If Gezza isn't coming, will people be able to cancel their tickets because the show isn't as advertised?
  9. Ah, you may be right Daz. However, I think if they could roll a 707 I am sure they could roll a 74. It is just they would possibly need a bit of time to get it right.
  10. And who heard the cow as the Co Pilot? A few times you hear the moooo sound.
  11. Interesting. I wonder how real it is. ANY imbalance with the spin and it would go crazy.
  12. Some one said it is impossible to roll a jumbo. You had better not tell Bob Hoover and his mates. I really seem to remember them doing it to "demonstrate" the 747 when it was first released.
  13. In today's SMH an article about a school girl and flying. http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/teenage-pilot-holly-adams-lands-test-flight-to-macquarie-anglican-grammar-school-20150313-143b88.html
  14. 10,000!!?? Not 1000? Gee you must have good ears!
  15. Um, Dean, you know this has already been shown here?
  16. Nobody, I was near you! Maybe a wee bit further north. Small world.
  17. Wow! Thanks. What a small world. That isn't far from where I live!
  18. Quick piccie from me:
  19. Hey folks. I think I have asked before, but here goes again. Last night I was in bed at 21:30. I could just make out the noise from the city, when a BIG helicopter came into range. It buzzed around and went away, but not out of range of hearing it. This went on for about half an hour. I got up and checked with radar but there wasn't anything flying - with an ADSB anyway. Eventually it went away but I was wondering what it was doing. It wasn't over a specific suburb looking for someone/thing and not following a stolen car. From what I could make out, it was anywhere from Sydenham to Leichhardt to Burwood.
  20. And what is going to happen here (NSW) with the state elections just around the corner an the "sell off" of the wires and poles of the electricity network? I wonder?
  21. On the "killing of birds". I can't give links, but have seen the show QI. They mentioned this and it is the local pressure pulses which kill small "birds" like bats because it destroys their lungs. I am sure youtube and a quick search can yield information.
  22. That was my first suggestion. Well he said the engines were BIG and 340's don't have that big an engine.
  23. A person I know who is a bit of a plane person asked me about a plane he saw recently. He lives down near Minto and saw a UAE plane fly over but it had 4 BIG engines like a 777. But 777's have only 2 engines. He knows what a 380 looks like and he says it wasn't one of them. Just wondering if anyone knows what he saw.
  24. 'BE STRONG HONEY I LOVE YOU !!!' A man escapes from a prison where he's been locked up for 15 years. He breaks into a house to look for money and guns. Inside, he finds a young couple in bed. He orders the guy out of bed and ties him to a chair. While tying the homeowner's wife to the bed, the convict gets on top of her, APPEARS TO kiss her neck, then gets up and goes into the bathroom. While he's in there, the husband whispers over to his wife: "Listen, this guy is an escaped convict. Look at his clothes! He's probably spent a lot of time in jail and hasn't seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don't resist, don't complain... do whatever he tells you. Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you. This guy is obviously very dangerous. If he gets angry, he'll kill us both. Be strong, honey. I love you.” His wife responds: "He wasn't kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me that he's gay, thinks you're cute, and asked if we had any Vaseline. I told him it was in the bathroom. Be strong honey. I love you, too...”
