  1. Thanks for that.... How is 11 then? I HAD MSFS ... version 9 - I think - way back in 2000. And had/have a heap of stuff that plugs into it (Hardware / instruments) that would be nice to be able to use on the NEW setup I am making. Be it XP or MS.
  2. I am trying to use the DEMO version and am getting no end of grief when I use/start it. I have a FFB USB (Saitek) joystick. It has 4 axis. Pitch, roll, rudder, and throttle. When XP-12 starts and I calibrate the joystick, three are 5 axis shown. The people who write XP-12 aren't being much help blaming the fact the joystick is 20 years old. But if I open the windows calibrate setting, there is only 4 axis shown. So this extra axis is being created by XP-12 to my best guess. And - another annoyance: EVERY TIME I load XP-12 ALL/ANY calibrations are LOST and I have to re-calibrate the joystick. I have rudders and other stuff, but haven't got to doing them yet. Anyone here have any ideas what is going on?
  3. Yes, I get that IAS and GS are two different animals. But I got the speed from the app - which I believe shows IAS. Anyway.... Seems it happens/happened.
  4. YSSY - "Fivedock" Not very far. I'll say less than 15 miles as the crow flies. It had just taken off - or was doing a very weird "fly by" to YSSY. So I don't get what you mean. And - yeah - I can only relay what the app said. But it was scooting along and I know that they don't usually go that fast over where I was. Which is why I noticed it.
  5. A couple of days back I was watching a plane taking off/flying over me. Gee, that looks fast. Open the app and look. Philippine airlines. BELOW 10,000. 266 knots! And getting faster. I think it was about 5,000 when I saw it. But can't be sure. It WAS below 10,00 as I was in FIVEDOCK (Sydney) and if it was above 10,000 by there, it's VSI would have to be off the charts.
  6. Don't you lot think this has gone a bit off topic?
  7. It was broadcast a few days ago. BLACK BOX. 2021. French. Probably about the time of the 777-800 problems. There is a plane flying from (somewhere) to (somewhere) Europe and it crashes. The BEA investigate the crash. Yes, there is a bit of "Hollywood" license in it but it is worth watching.

  9. Thanks. I feel I am becoming a dinosaur with all these modern thingies.
  10. Ok, thanks. That link is a rabbit hole. Belgium?
  11. Sorry, but As I said: The second post is only a URL to google's map.
  12. The second post is a URL to google maps. Or did I miss something? Not sure anyone has notcied this bit: New details: Peter Davis. Yalcowinna. The first name I posted is because the names of the properties don't line with what google says. (Remember: Googles isn't always right) I got the name from what was shown. After a bit of asking/digging I got the person's name and property name.
  13. So no one here knows of the strip I mentioned or the person? Strange. I have been told they are a pilot and have a few hours up their sleeve.
  14. I understood that is active. Or: was. A few years back I met some people at Tumut and I believe they were from that strip. I've been to a strip with a power line "across" it. You just keep the plane on the ground until you are past said power line then climb. (Not that strip. Another one.)
  15. That is Bunyan though isn't it? Do you know the one I mentioned above? (My last/latest reply/post with the name shown.)
  16. Could be. I'm just going on the very poor description I was given by a local down there. New details: Peter Davis. Yalcowinna.
  17. Thanks. I'll try to catch their attention. (Seems he can't accept Private messages) 😞
  18. Well, I was given FEW details. Just "north of the pumping station". And that is the only one I could find. So I thought I would ask and see if I could find the owner.
  19. I was talking to someone and they mentioned a private strip around that part of the world. They did some work at the house. Just wondering if the person who owns the strip is a member here?
  20. Thanks. Sorry for slow reply. Been busy.
  21. Yes, but..... GQ-1? And it said JUMBO.... Not C5 Galaxy. And..... Today (the next time I thought to load the tracker) that flight had gone to Singapore. Ok once clear of Sydney it could have "hidden" or what ever. Just the time for me to see/find QF-1 departing Sydney throws a spanner in my works. And I shall stand corrected there are/were C-17's shown in Sydney on the late news. AND I am not sure if it was a C-5 or C-17. It was Military. High wing and 4 engines. Sorry for saying C-5 and not 4 engine high wing military jet.
  22. "Yesterday" (Thursday 11 May) I was in Newtown (Sydney) and looked up at a plane taking off. My hands were dirty as I was eating food at the time. Approximately 15:30 C-5 Galaxy taking off 34 L. Started turning West. After a few minutes and when my hands were clean I loaded my flight tracker. Expanded from Sydney and went NW. The ONLY heavy I could see, coming from Sydney. Clicked on it. QF-1 I thought QF-1 was the first morning flight out of Sydney. Anyone?
  23. The big thing there is the word IF. How about we wait for truths to be revealed? Yes, it would be better if we can learn from it but first we have to know if that is/was the cause.
  24. Shame that it got to that. I know no one is perfect, but gee it is not nice when pilots - who are supposed to be just a bit better than most others at blame assignation - are doing that.
  25. Maybe not, but it is PUBLIC and not based on facts. I want to be clear I am not trying to assign blame. But the "picture" as painted is still too vague to know the real story of what happened to start guessing the cause.
