  1. My bad!!! (as they say these days). My card and paperwork arrived today in the mail. The other 'paperwork' is the email I received and printed out. I hate getting old....
  2. Well ,here we are in 2016 and I got my rego certificate but no card. Have I missed a memo or something? I'll ring them later today (Tues 6th Sept 2016) to find out what's happening.
  3. I end up with a sore neck watching the same thing that one sees at all airshows. Na, I don't particularly go out of my way to attend. Did Oshkosh in 1990 and a few at Mangalore in the eighties. Maybe a few hundred naked (female) skydivers might get me back for a look.
  4. What version of Autocad did you use here? :-)
  5. Apart from accidents the VAST majority of back problems is caused by carrying a fat gut. Try telling folks that!
  6. Let's say you had a steady output from a sensor of around 1 volt RMS when attached to your smooth running engine. Then something goes wrong and the vibration increases. If that causes a sudden change in output level, could that not be a trigger to warn you? I think it's worth some investigation.
  7. perhaps this might be of use..... Vibration Meter - Android Apps on Google Play It's an Android app used to turn the phone into a vibration meter.
  8. Have you wound the radio squelch so far back it picks up all noise? That's a common mistake. You adjust squelch with the motor running so only your voice gets through. Start with the simple sh*t first. Is a hand-held radio close by picking up the noise? Disconnect the antenna - if the noise goes then the interference is coming via the power cable. Hard to help when I'm not there...
  9. There are a few here that fly out of Gawler. Welcome to the gang...
  10. Don't hang your bum out the door no matter how desperate. I did once and heard a guy in a passing plane call over the radio "Hey you with the fat cheeks and cigar, get your head back in the cabin!".
  11. You can't take your money with you so, if you're not struggling to pay the bills and put food on the table then spend the money on flying. Once you ditch the instructor the costs should be a lot less. I spend $50 or so week just owning a Jab, that does not include flying it. Great video, you're doing well.
  12. Controllers can get a bollocking if they do not take into account pilots that are 'struggling'. My brother was an ATC officer for many years and it's part of their training (human factors). ATC that make soothing noises can save lives while those who are impatient and aggressive can get people killed. The ATC seemed to be doing the right thing in this sad case....
  13. Thankyou for that. Coming out with only an ankle injury is pretty good!
  14. Can't access it as I don't do Facebook. Never will.
  15. Great news. I know of a young lass who now flies AWACS and she started her flying training at the Adelaide Soaring Club flying Jabirus.
  16. Excellent video. Is the gauge closest to the Garmin GPS, right hand side reading outside the green zone? And, are you doing your downwind checks? I do mine out loud and tend to point to the gauges and stuff etc. as I check them off.
  17. this link is acting strange to me...
  18. Simply increase the squelch setting a little and see what happens. Your radios receiver may be 'at its best' on this frequency.
  19. The whirring sound is to impress passengers that have no knowledge of aircraft or flying. Like all the flashing lights and beeping sounds that early computers had, just to impress the whuffos.
  20. What do Jabiru have to say about this? My concern is that people do 'these sorts of things' and then when things go wrong Jabiru engines get blamed and CASA slaps their BS on them. We're not tinkering with hot rods and motor bikes here.
  21. I don't put daily inspections in my maintenance log. I have a running sheet that states I have performed a daily inspection and deem the aircraft safe to fly for that day. All that's in my maintenance log are the 25, 50, 75, 100, yearly services and any service bulletins that come out from time to time. Like you, mine could be a little hard to read.
  22. Well, I sent the copies of the last two pages of my maintenance log off today, as requested. I'll sit back and wait and see what happens. As far as I can tell I have been doing the right thing. If I get a beating, I shall wear the lace and they can wear the leather.
  23. No, try to get into the habit of turning it off and on as required because you'll possibly start flying other aircraft other than Jabirus. Should be part of the downwind checks. Remember, it's a backup pump in case the engine fuel pump dies.
  24. I never turn the fuel pump off on my Jabiru which has about 130 hours on the clock. In fact, the manual says it does no harm. (Might wear out prematurely).
