  1. I love it!!! ...I was there and watched a few times also, !!! Remember? Frank.
  2. Flying the Drifter at sunset this afternoon. Frank.
  3. Absolutely terrible! keep in mind though! these days bystanders are encouraged to do nothing in case they harm themselves or the person they are trying help. This accident has just reminded me of a guy who was an AUF instructor, in his Drifter, back when I was instructing, as I recall it, he purchased a G.A aircraft and crashed it on take-off, on his first flight! he was fatally injured. Frank.
  4. Yep! I know all the beaches I`ve landed on over the years and a change of the tides and wind can change the surface of the beach in a couple of days! a good sharp eye and a knowledge of what is a suitable landing area and what is not is definitely required. If not all, most of the beaches in North Queensland are not much more than a wingspan wide and sloping down to the water, add a stiff onshore wind and it becomes a challenge, even to the experienced pilot. I`ll dare say most people start to lose their sharpness as they age, I try to maintain mine by flying regularly! I did more stupid things in the early days of my flying than I do now! I was able to learn from them, to give me the knowledge I have today. Callahan, thank you for your input! Frank.
  5. Not trying to tell anyone how to do it, just how I have always preferred to do it!....I`m now 70.5 years old and have done many beach landings in my 30 + years of flying Ultralights! I`ve only had a couple of rides as a passenger in Trikes, though. I would never land on soft sand! The landing may go well but you may not be able to get airborne again. After determining my landing spot, I would only come in on final, with a glide approach, then sideslip off excess height. Frank.
  6. G`Day Garry, Brilliant! Thank you!!! .........Frank.
  7. Goodonya Ron! Can`t keep a good man down!!!... Here`s a couple more I took when I took a local friend of mine for a fly along the coast, yesterday. Frank.
  8. Just got back from a solo Croc spotting flight up the Mulgrave River! No Crocs` today but as we have a very low tide I decided to fly out to the heads for a couple more photos of the inlet, for the locals...Someone on here might like them.
  9. G`Day Ron ( Tail Spin ), Is this what you mean? Frank.

G`Day Fred, No doubt! You are correct! What I meant was that I don`t see any end to the "BS", as you put it...I`ve been a member of the AUF now RAA since 1987 and I`m no more happy about it than anyone else. Frank.

Nope! Not that I can see!... I`ve just renewed mine, online, $245. I`ve copied from the RAA Website. Posted 16 June 2017 Why are fees going up?The RAAus Board is determined to get RAAus back into surplus and a fee increaseis one measure that has been introduced to achieve this... Membership fees will rise on 1 July from $215 to $235. Frank.
  12. G`Day Jack, If you havn`t already done so, take a look at the Drifter Aircraft Appreciation Society, on facebook! Jordan Slark has a WB Drifter for sale. https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=drifter aircraft appreciation society Franco.
  13. G`Day Mark, Thanks!... They keep coming, I`ll keep taking them!... I went up solo this afternoon, at low tide, to take a couple of photos of the sandbars in the mouth of the inlet at Russell Heads, for a couple of locals who use the inlet, I don`t charge and it keeps me in the good books with the locals...To stay as safe as possible, when I`m out over the ocean, I`m at 3500` amsl and I can quite easily glide back to my strip....I love it!
  14. Two years ago I had the pleasure of taking Ronald Rook for his first flight in a Drifter! Ronald is an Ultralight pilot, from way back and a J3 Kitten owner...Today I had the pleasure of taking Ronald`s son, Leonard, for his first flight in an Ultralight! Leonard has flown Gliders and his impression of our flight, " A fabulous experience".
  15. Hi Everyone, I`ve just come across this WB Drifter, advertised for sale, on Gumtree, 20 hours ago! https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-drifter/k0 https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/temora/miscellaneous-goods/ultralight-drifter-aircraft-wb-503dcdi/1185381347 Frank.

  20. Passenger enhancement ??? ...LOL.
  21. Not me, your sense of humor is great, I did wonder if you were fairdinkum though!
  22. I don`t know what you call a set! I made my own up years ago! A motorcycle shop should be able to make them up for you. Frank.
  23. I`ve had 4 Rotax 582 , all from new and currently running a Rotax 503 DCDI with E-type reduction gearbox. There`s no way I would use any additive, regardless of cost, to try and stop a seal from leaking...Keep in mind what the cost of an E.F.A.T.O. can be! Frank.
