  1. Clement, from France, enjoying his first Ultralight flight, this morning. Franco.
  2. Goodonya Kev! Way to go. Franco.
  3. Assembling the prop and adjusting the pitch is fairly straight forward...If you havn`t already seen this, here`s some info that might help you. http://www.ivoprop.com/images/PDF%20Ultralight%20Quick%20Adjustment%20Instructions.pdf I`ve tried increasing and decreasing pitch on my prop and found the neutral position to give the best all round performance...I don`t have the lock nut on the "Turn Screw Adjuster" at all. Frank.
  4. G`Day Callahan! Can`t help with your question, interested in why a B-Box with 60 inch 2 blade Ivo prop though....I currently run a 503 DCDI with an E box, 2.62.1 reduction, 60 inch 3 blade, ground adjustable Ivo. Frank.
  5. Hi SSCBD, Now that would have frightened them away! . Couple of weeks ago, I spotted one a fair bit bigger than this one, on the sand, in the lagoon at Palmers Point, where Warren Hughs was taken a few months ago...I got down around 500` AGL and it jumped up, spun around and went into the water, like a rocket...I`ve been back 6 times since, to try and get a photo but no sight of it, I reckon it`s there, somewhere and I also reckon, it`s probably the one that got Warren. When we were informed Warren was missing, my son Michael, a friend of his and myself, went searching the area, with Michaels boat, from 9pm till 2 am the next morning and with the spotlights, we picked up the eyes of a huge Croc and a smaller one, in the lagoon...The lagoon is just 50 mts from the ocean, on the other side of the beach. In our area, the authorities are starting to take the situation a little more seriously...A couple of days after Warren was taken, they shot a 4 mt Croc, in the mouth of the Russell river and a couple of days ago, one was shot at the popular Ross and Lock picnic area in the Mulgrave river. This is the one shot, at night, after Warren was taken. It went to the bottom and floated to the surface, the next day. A local friend of mine and I found it floating, the next day...I took the photos...It measured 4050cm Franco.
  6. I`ve just got back from a quick Croc spotting flight,up the Mulgrave River: Didn`t need to go far to see two sunning themselves on the sand bars, about 500 mts appart... I guestimate both to be 5+ mts...Photo of the second one didn`t turn out. Franco.

Thanks Todd! It`s not only the cost of the floats it`s the added costs to be legal and it`s difficult to put a figure on those costs. Franco.
  8. G`Day Nev, As you know, I`d have to go through the log book to give you exact hours...When I was instructing, I held an L2 certificate, to maintain my own AC and I`ve refurbished the Drifter a couple of times over the years. Yes, I do put it to good use: I`ve always done so... Apart from the dual flights, weather permitting, I like to fly solo a couple of time a week. Franco.

Found this one here.Magnificent Men & their Flying Machines Years ago, I flew an Austflight Aviation,503 WB Drifter, on huge fiberglass floats, that to look at, you`d reckon you wouldn`t get it into the air, but it did quite easily and was very manoeuvrable....I loved it and I would love to have floats for mine. Frank.
  10. Finally getting some glorious weather, this weekend..This is Nikolai (Left) and Rorik, with their mum, Kirsten..First Ultralight flight, for Nikolai and Rorik. This was Steve`s first Ultralight flight, yesterday morning... Frank.
  11. Precisely!!! That`s the very first thing he needs to understand and maybe he does, but if he doesn`t, then we won`t be able to help much from here if we can`t communicate with him effectively, even then, we need him to want to communicate with us. This is a translation of Paen`s last post on his facebook page. "Different life, some people love to do somebody like sports, I like to make a plane". Does he intend to fly the plane or is he just interested in build it? Frank.
  12. Tried that, Paen, said he couldn`t understand it,he asked me if I could write in Khmer.
  13. I`ve asked Paen if the aircraft is finished and ready to fly but no reply yet....I`ve established he speaks Khmar....I`ve tried several online translators, but no success...Unless I can communicate with him in his language, I`m afraid, there`s not a lot I / we can do to help...If anyone can direct me to an English to Khmar...Khmar to English online translator, that actually does translate, please do so. Frank.
  14. Yeah! FT! There are so many scams on the internernet that for the small fee of $100, I will tell you how to avoid them.

  18. I`ve got some communication going with Paen Long, on facebook and he has said, "I do not know English" so it`s making it difficult...I asked if I could post some photos of his aircraft,on here and he sent me these...I`ve asked what language he speaks...No reply yet.
  19. :wave:Hi Mike, My Rainbow is the ability to continue taking people flying in the Drifter: I see it as a privilege, that they want to fly with me. Best Regards, Frank.

  23. G`Day Mark,... For a while, there was a Shadow based here on our property, I got to fly it and thought it was very nice and easy to fly, my only dislike was the difficulty getting into the back seat and the poor visibility, from there. Revisiting the 1988 ultralight flight from England to Australia Dalgety Flyer ultralight aircraft Frank.
