  2. G`Day from Deeral, North Queensland, Australia! wishardjefrey.....
  3. I`ve just had a good look at the Sydney Morning Herald video and it appears, I repeat appears to me that the lines pylon500 is referring to are the leading edge of the wing! If that is correct, the aircraft has impacted the ground with a very steep nose down attitude. Frank.
  4. I`m lucky to have had a life at all, let alone the ability to fly ( I`ve just got back from a magic flight in my Drifter)!!! My Father dreamed of flying! In his teens he would write letters to his girl friend (My mother) describing his flying...As I said earlier, WW2 destroyed those dreams. This particular day, some German soldiers came into the town he and my Mum lived in, lined up a row of civilians, counted to the tenth person and that person was shot on the spot, my fathers friend who was beside him, panicked, ran and was shot in the back! I`m here simply because my Father didn`t panic and wasn`t the tenth person. On another day German soldiers came into his town and took away all the men they could find, my Father survived because the soldiers didn`t find him, on yet another day, German soldiers burnt down my Mum`s parents house. It`s been a great privilege to have taken flying, Mum, Dad, my mother-in-law and the hundreds of others, over the years. Franco, Ps, In no way is this post intended to discredit the German people! It`s just the way it happened then.....
  5. At 17 years of age, I met my wife Frances and here mother! At 18 years of age Fran and I married...I never got to meet Frans father because, four years earlier he`d had a severe stroke and had passed away a couple of months before I met Fran! He was 56 years of age...Money was scarce for Frans family and they hadn`t even owned a car. Years went by and one day I decided to build an Ultralight aircraft! I wanted to fly but couldn`t afford to any other way...Frans mother, Peg (everyone called her Peg) Maloney, had never been near an aircraft, let alone a home built Ultralight, yet she helped me sew the skins for it and when the time was right, Peg, my mother-in-aw, had the courage to be my first passenger! More years went by and I now had the Drifter....As a young man my Father had a desire to fly but WW2 in Europe killed any hope of that happening... Both of my parents, who had never been near an aircraft, got to experience their first flight, in the Drifter, with me and several more, over the years. To date, in the Drifter, I have taken flying our three Children, eight Grand Children and one Great Grand Daughter and hopefully, it won`t be long before I get to take up our second Great Grand Daughter...Hopefully! I`ll still be flying the Drifter when our two Great Grand Sons are old enough to fly. Peg, Mum and Dad, Deceased....R.I.P. Franco.

  7. Hello Grey83 ..........
  8. Have you had a discussion with all of your neighbours?...Regardless of what the law states, it will be extremely dfficult for you to fly from there, if you don`t have a good relationship with your neighbours. Frank.
  9. Goodonya, scre! I hope you have many safe and joyful flights, I`ve just got back from a very pleasant flight in my Drifter...Don`t forget to stop in and say G`Day, if you get up to the Cairns area of Nth Qld. Frank.

  12. From Left, Ryan, Jonas, Delia and Nico, backpacking Australia...... Unfortunately, the weather didn`t want to play the game today and only Delia, got to fly, hopefully, Ryan, Jonas and Nico will get a fly tomorrow...Jonas has flown twice with me. Delia is from Spain! It was her first flight in an Ultralight!...Photo says it all! Frank.
  13. G`Day Jayke! Frank.
  14. The simple fact is, like many things in the wrong hands, small planes are dangerous and in my opinion, there`s no benefit in trying to deny it, but I very much doubt that is the reason, young people are put off! Frank.
  15. G`Day David, You need the Grey wire that is part of the bundle of wires that come from the Stator Coil. Your Taco, should have two terminals! one goes to earth and the Grey wire goes to the other. Frank.
  16. Corporate Jet Charter – Hire Private Jet Charter & Aircraft Jet Charter
  17. Hi BP ...Goodonya! I`d love to be there, bit far away though......Biggest stumbling block is Liability and I sincerely hope you can be covered, but at what cost...You`ll most likely find that those who want to take part, won`t want to put some $$$ towards it, but if they do, it will then present other issues for you. The Devil is in the Fine Print. Frank.
  18. My Pleasure....Forgot to add I`m Franco (Frank)...Cheers.
  19. G`Day Jef Irick from Oak Ridge, ....
  20. My first attempt at flying was with a Wheeler Scout...I got it about three feet off the ground for about 100 mts and I was absolutely over the moon about it...Years later, I flew Jack Stewart`s Wheeler Scout a couple of times. Jack had his own way of testing if the wind was ok to fly the Scout, he`d take out his hanky, hold it at head height and let it go, if it landed within a certain distance, away he`d go...He was always happy to let anyone fly it and I recall an experienced pilot flying it up on the Atherton Tablelands and ending up in Lake Tinaroo with it...He was injured and very lucky to have survived. Thank you Ricard but I was asking about the one that SSCBD is sitting in...I flew the MX QuickSilver a couple of times... I`ve got a story about the MX also...A guy and his lady had an MX and they were trying to teach themselves to fly it but weren`t finding it easy! The lady had to go away for a while and gave the guy strict instructions not to touch the AC while she was away! The moment she was gone he jumped in it, got it off the ground and carried out a "Collision With Terrain", as they say! They re-built it but came to me to get their AUF certificate before successfully attempting to fly it. Jason, I recall being the first guy to give a CAA approved flying demonstration, in the Drifter, at an airshow at Donnington Airpark! Don`t recall the year though...Late eighties early nineties???...I do recall, on the day,a military helicopter landing too nose high after it`s display and hitting the ground with the main rotor. Frank
  21. G`Day Henry and Frank,
  22. How much pilot protection do you want?......Crash an Ultralight aircraft and the chance of survival is very slim, regardless of pilot protection. Frank.
