  1. Came across this, thought someone might be interested, wasn`t sure where to post it, so here it is! Light-Sport Aircraft News: Oshkosh? E-Fan Ends! 1Q20 Numbers, Sling Academy, Fractal EMS - ByDanJohnson.com
  2. My MTOW dropped substantially as I`ve only been flying solo since socially distancing came into force! seriously though! for my wife Frances and Me life has not changed much at all. I`m holding steady at 70kg and believe it or not, I`ve been around that weight most of my adult life... I`m 72 years of age now and I don`t want or need to be any heavier and there`s not much chance of that happening as I get plenty of physical activity just maintaining our property, then there`s the voluntary work I do for a neighbor and our eldest daughter and her Husband so in total I mow around 5 ha of lawn every week and a fair bit of that is with the Victa push mower, I also try to do a minimum of 5 k on my push-bike each day...Life`s good. Franco.
  3. These days, the only reason I need to fly is that I still want to. Though I`ve been flying since the mid-eighties, I`ve never lost the desire or the passion, if anything, it has grown stronger, in fact, I flew this afternoon. I don`t need to fly far, I did plenty of that in the early days, I just need to be up there and enjoy the magic of it all, an experience I find difficult to put into words. Franco.
  4. COVID-19 hasn`t stopped me flying and no one has tried to stop me either, I only fly solo, though...I went flying again this afternoon. Franco.
  5. Virus? What Virus?........... ...........No Virus here!!! Franco.
  6. I fly from my own property and have been paying AUF/RAA fees since the mid-eighties! I don`t like the ever-increasing fees any more than anyone else but if I want to fly legally, and I do, I have to pay the fee! as far as I can see, at this time, there is no reason for me to stop flying so I will continue. Franco.
  7. Hasn`t stopped me flying and I`m 12 years older than you! ............. Yesterday afternoon. Franco.
  8. Social distancing at it`s best... From the Drifter, yesterday afternoon. Franco.

  17. Some days the humidity is over 90% and the temp is in the high thirties, but compared to what`s happening in so many other parts of the country, home here is paradise! we won`t be out of the Cyclone season until the end of April, though, so anything could happen before then. We havn`t had any serious rain yet but more than enough to keep the grass growing at an alarming rate! the clouds in the photos I posted yesterday, were the remains of the thunder storm that occurred on Tuesday night and went on into yesterday morning, by afternoon, perfect flying weather! a real magic carpet ride! well, for me anyway. Franco.
  18. From the Drifter, this afternoon! Over the years, I`ve had some amazing flights in the Drifter! this one`s right up there with the best of them. Franco.
  19. You`re on! All you have to do is get up here! I love it!!! Brilliant!!!
  20. I met Robert a few weeks ago at the Mulgrave Landcare AGM! we got chatting, one thing led to another and I told him a bit about recreational aviation and Drifter flying! I offered to take him for a fly and yesterday morning he took up the offer!!! I took this photo for the Mulgrave Land-care group on their last day of tree planting for 2019! Later that afternoon I attended their AGM and met Robert there...Expand the photos for a better image. Franco.
  21. I went for a solo flight this morning and as I was putting the Drifter away a car turned up! a lady just up the road ( have taken her flying ) had a friend from another state staying with her for the day and leaving tomorrow morning, saw me flying and came over to see if I`d take her friend for a fly! the wind was picking up and I didn`t think it suitable for a first time Ultralight flight so I told them to give me a call around 4.30. ..About half an hour later the wind really picked up gusting 25/30 kts for most of the afternoon! 4.30 was still no good so I told them to come over at 5! by 5.30 we were ready to fly and what a great fly it was!!! Franco.
  22. Yes it is Bob! thank you........72 years and glad to have made it as I havn`t exactly lived my life on the safe side! I often say to people, flying has been one of the safest things I`ve done! Gees Bob, I worked with fire for many years, in the sugar cane industry before we went to green cane harvesting, had to fight many when they got away from us but these bush-fires are a completely different animal, makes Frances and Me appreciate more the area we live in... Sincerely hope it all ends well for you all. Franco.
  23. A start to 2020 new years day, my way.............. Well!, I made it through 2019, accident free in the Drifter so here`s hoping I can do the same for 2020... HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!! Franco, Ps, Now Frances and Me are of to the Atherton Tablelands, to share some quality time with some of our family!
