    Hi John, In our own plane we use Bose headsets and they are great, but I also have a set of rec flying headsets that I use when flying other peoples planes when I am servicing them or ferrying them around and they are a good tough headsdet that are comfortable enough to use for a few hours of flying at a time and won,t break the bank Brian

    Did you take the earth wires off the coils or just disconnected them from the switch as it might have chaffed and still be shorting out to earth, or cracked insulators under the coil mount ? Brian

    Pookemon, Thanks for the recommendation, will look into it. You were out and about on Thursday in Ballarat in the arvo? We were there, and saw the yellow canary doing circuits! We have a friend who has a J230 in the aviation hangar, and Brian was doing some maintenance on it. Next time we are up in Ballarat, we must catch up. -Linda

    Howard. The GoPro Hero 2 has this software that you download from the website: http://gopro.com/support/ There is a editing software called "GoPro cineform studio" This is what you use to download the video from the camera which converts it to windows live video maker, from there you can make it a movie. This is how we did it. It seemed to work well. Any questions please ask, and I will try and help where I can. -Linda

    Thanks guys for the input, it was filmed at 960p at 48fps which worked, we are still playing with the different settings and would welcome someone with more camera knowledge to suggest what settings we should have. We are more of a point and shoot, and if it works, that was good type of photographer. It was taken on thursday morning 10/5 and it was a great day for flying in Vic. Vev , if you look close in the middle of the film you should be able to see the ASI reading about 130, (top left of the dash) which isn't too shabby to get around at. Thanks everyone, soon as we get the outside mount done we will try and post some more. Brian and Linda:happy:

    Solid lifter motor will be fine Mardy, just keep the maintenance happening and you should have trouble free flying like most of us. Brian

Comments are most welcome as this is our first try with the GoPro. Next video will be outside of the aircraft. -Linda

    It was good to hear that you both got out unhurt from that accident, how many hours were on the aircraft and engine before this failure happened SF, it is not a common problem for the jab motors to have a loose circlip on the gudgeon pin, Brian

    I just ferried an aircraft from Bundaberg back to Victoria with the owner and when we were near Dalby at 6500 ft we looked out of the windscreen and about 2000 ft above us was a hang glider, it sounded like they were getting towed up and left to slowly make their way back home. It was a first for us to see a hang glider at that altitude. Brian

    I am not too familiar with the design of this aircraft but there looks to be no shrouding for the radiators and the air would take the path of least resistance and wash around the radiator instead of being forced through it ? Maybe leave the bottle where it is and slightly deflect the radiators inwards to get more airflow through them.

    Terry, Sounds like you are going on the right track with the guage, when you fitted the new sender do not use sealant if possible as it can insulate the sender and give bad readings also make sure the terminal connecting the sender wire is squeaky clean and tight on the terminal, then you can check the power and earth wires on the back of the guage to make sure of clean tight fittings, and failing all that maybe fit a diode on the back of the guage.
